Never heard of the movie "The Journey" I found it on Ebay. Bought it watched it loved it ! Yul Brynner's acting was superb ! Definitely should have been another Oscar for him there. His character eclipsed everyone's even Jason Robards Jr's. Deborah's prim & proper "oh, no no no" Lady Ashmore got a bit on the nerves but I have to remember this was made in 1959. And compared with todays films where nothing is left to the imagination in the full on sex scenes, this movie was pretty hot with only one real kiss scene in it. The ending was so............well, there was a couple of tears there for me.

It is not realistic that “ lady Ashmore” ( Deborah Kerr) would have been able continue her “ no, no” routine even in 1959.No woman would have been able to resist Yul Brynner, enemy or not.

I found it on Amazon. This was an excellent “ under the radar” movie, I was a young girl in Europe when this took place- still remember the desperate calls for help from the Hungarians. No western country US included,despite earlier promises , came to their rescue. It was chilling to me, because I had just seen their famous national soccer team beat Sweden in Stockholm. I was thinking of Puskas, Kocis and all the other excellent players during that time. Despite my sympathies for Hungary I fell head over heels for Major Surov ( Yul Brynner). Men like that are not around anymore!
I wish someone would post the original Russian folk song from this movie. No-one knows who wrote or performed it and it doesn't seem to exist anywhere else.Sugababes? Meh.

I feel Yul actually loved Deborah in real life. I know he was a brilliant actor but you can’t fake that look. They were perfect together.
