Pierre Huyghe in conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist

Serpentine Galleries and Artsy presented a conversation with Pierre Huyghe and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries to discuss Pierre Huyghe's exhibition UUmwelt, where the gallery has become a porous and contingent environment, housing different forms of cognition, emerging intelligence, biological reproduction and instinctual behaviours.

Pierre Huyghe is the most fascinating artist and his influence is not easily understood in UK. More than any other contemporary artist, he is dependent on chance and I feel he is the one most open to surrender any ownership to create a disruption in the fabric of social norms. He is a catalyst more than an instigator or maker. Understanding or empathy with his associated manifestations is the result of a personal and existential dilemma with the immediate and now. As a practicing contemporary artist, for me Huyghe is the most vital today and exists beyond even the most contemporary notions of the 'place' or identity of art. Thank you for posting. x
