Congratulation Maestro Lutz, you are at the top, with people such as Koopman, Gardiner and Herreweghe. Long live to you and St. Gallen! I heard Bach say very good things about you... :-)

Ächzen und erbärmlich Weinen one of Bach's most difficult arias, and quite satisfying.

my favrite bach tear jerker; better even than 'erbarme dich' from matty's pashion! Bach really outdid himself here, n how could he not outdo himself with his SDG epithet! Becos of his heartfeldt trust in God's providence, even amidst the grief & loss @ the death of 13 offspring who predeceased hymn!!! His music is truly heavenly, puts paid to despair & assigns all glory for this creation to a God who could allow him to suffer the loss of 13 kids & his first wife b4 he finally shuffled off our mortal coil @ the unripe by 21st cebntury stanrds, age of 65. Yet he recognized that his post human life heavenly reward would more than compensate him, even paling his grief into insignificance....
This has to be one of the best balanced opi muscia ever written...... Bachstiftung, even with their precocious babyfaced counter tenor give a fine interpretation of this inspiring opus. while presently 2 poverty stricken to contribue a donation2 stiftung I would encourage any well enuf blessed or flush with cash, illgotten or otherwise, to generously give to futher Bach Stiftungs interpretaions of Bach's Lutheran theology.........

9:43 The chorale with the alto singer (Jan Börner) and the recorders doing the cantus firmus is absolutely perfect:
    - choice of melody
    - instrumentation
    - crazy counterpoint by the continuo
    - perfection of interpretation. NO vibrato in sight, but perfect, solid unison.
    My goosebumps generators are overheating!cantus

Lutz has a way of getting great soloists. Rarely disappointed(though, prefer lady altos). Also, like the variety of arrangements. Keeps it fresh.

    • @martinbeach8459

yeah, cts r just basses who cant get a bass solo gig, so they misogynisticly rob aspiring altos of chances of a solo. There is no objectivity in this unless you hate women passionately. Y is the musical world so genderly unjust in their selection of men singing falsetto over women who can get the notes using their natural voice. Besides it used2B more pleasant4 a man to look at a woman singer rather than a ct trying to deny his manhood in singing alto scores in his head (castrato????) voice. Farinelli has a lot to answer for. Rise up scorned Altos of thje musical world!

I too prefer a lady alto. It sounds so much more beautiful and natural. Therefore I prefer Helmuth Rilling on this cantata.

it is not a show. It is a time for artistic contemplation and spiritual upliftment. Concern about externalization is just to please the aesthetics of third parties.

who plays the oboe? I couldn't find it on Bachipedia (BTW the in depth analysis there write oboe d'amore, not da caccia).

      @ghjk8024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

This is Ingo Müller playing the oboe da caccia.
