Original price was just under $200 shipped. I bought mine and absolutely love it. I run mine with a few ZMF’s and my LCDX 2021 sounds fantastic with the Piety.
I’d like to recommend an alternative to the Asgard 3, which is the Schiit Vali 2++. It’s ridiculously good for the $149 price. It has an immersive, relaxed, tube-like sound, but has the clarity, detail, and dynamics of a solid-state amplifier. I’m running the Vali with a Modi Multibit series 2 and HD58x modded phones. The overall sonic signature is enveloping, transparent, and nicely layered.
Yeah I mean, the Piety is going for a tube-like sound in the footprint of a Magni, and.... The Vali 2++ (likely) gives you ACTUAL tube sound in a Magni footprint, at the same price point. So yeah, good point Robert.
I just got one and it plays WAY ABOVE the 200 - 300 dollar range, after it has burned in. In the beginning I thought: "Yes, pretty nice, enjoyable". But now after 3 days of listening I say this one plays Asgard under the table (I have it too), especially in terms of holographic presentation and stereo image. It's a small miracle. I am mainly using it with Grado RS-1X in Low Gain mode.
I use the Heresy as a pre-amp for my turntable, and I tried getting the Piety as an alternative choice to suit my mood. I can't believe how much these are actually selling for. Thanks for the advice.
Good review, and your conclusions are right on. I got 1 on launch, and they are not hype, and it is NOT worth $300-$400. Those prices are ridiculous, pure price gouging. I have an Asgard 2 and Jot 2 in different setups, both are better than the Piety, but it is a great amp for its size at the $150 price point. The Piety is again available for $165 in limited quantities from Nitsch on their site.
It bugs me when a PS adapter takes up so much space on a power distribution block/strip. The JDS Labs stuff does this too, at least the Atom AMP/DAC I had did. Never thought about it much but now wonder it its less expensive that way.
Outing myself as the friend here, but I knew $300 wasn't the original price for those. I just couldn't remember what they sold for while they were in-stock.
hi, thx for the review 😎 i like the sound and sound profile of the Piety a lot. is the Lyr+ sounding similar in tube hybrid mode? is it a good upgrade path, or what amp would you suggest from that price category that has similar sound signature? thx
Lyr+ is fantastic and with some tubes will give you that warmer and thicker sound yes. Just be sure you have a DAC with a high quality SE output. Lyr+ may very well be the best $600 amp available right now but with many similarly priced DACs you'll never know it.
@@wavetheorysound thank you so much for the response 😊 i have Topping D70S and Chord Mojo now, plan to by one of my friends Mojo 2. is D70S or Mojo2 a good pairing, or what dac and tube would you suggest? thx
@@laszlokiss3578 nice. With a Chord you're likely in good shape. Lyr+ really sang with Hugo 2 and the Mojos should do similarly but not quite as high up performance. As far as tubes, I linked one I like in the description of my Lyr+ review video. I'm not a huge tube expert but there is lots of info out there a out how different brands tend to color sound.
You could get a 3.5 mm to RCA cable from the headphone jack of the GoXLR into the back of this. I did that with a different amo and it did work, but I don't know if it is ideal. I ended up adding a Beacn Mix Create and a USB DAC to my PC to drive the amp.
I would love to see review the new Erzetich Charybdis and the schiit RAGNAROK 2 For its headphone Amp performance and maybe the new HIFIMAN HE1K V2 stealth magnet edition 😀 😉 😄 😜 😁 you could have said this is some Nitsch Schiit you get 😉
I had serial number 14 Piety and sold it after hearing the Vali 2++. The Vali is more transparent, more layered, has a smoother top end, and zero glare.
I love mine, and I honestly think the market prices things accurately. I feel like this performs like my $300-400 amps. The opening price point was too low.
This thing was all hype. I ended up selling mine for more than what I paid then use the profit on a like new Asgard 3 purchase. I already have a Jot 2 so don’t need something that sounds like one.
The Asgard 3 is at whole different level of performance. I had the pure class -A Asgard 2, which sounded glorious and was hot enough to grill a hamburger.

I love mine too. Switched the stock tube to a JJ 6922 gold pin version and love how it sounds for the price.

A good suggestion. I haven't heard the Vali 2++ yet so I couldn't for sure rec it.

Absolutely love mine. Just need a source w/variable output. You have to leave it in high gain. Where it kicks ass and takes no prisoners. ❤
PS that's why I enjoy your group chats. Keep 'em coming.

How much are they selling for?
I'd love to see a review of the Burson Playmate 2 with comparisons to the EF400 and the other amps in that range. Maybe the Fiio K7, too.

Just wait until it has burned in and use some good cables... for me, after 3 days of playing, it has become a total surprise!
Watching this years later, and it’s available again on NITSCH and APOS for an increased price of $175 + shipping + taxes

Pietus Maximus review incoming?
Will you be reviewing the new Nitsh x Pietus Maximus? I'm curious how it would pair with a biofrost 2/64
Thanks...again. Sometimes it pays to bring in a new mind/idea, eh?

Hi, nice vid. Have you tried the Shiit Jotunheim 2?
Yes, I reviewed that in written form before I launched the YT channel: www.head-fi.org/showcase/schiit-jotunheim-2.25159/reviews#review-25865
