When I remove the oil filter I use an old piece of plastic guttering under the filter through the wheel arch to channel the oil away to a drip tray, saves messing up the undertray.
Thank you so much I've been searching everywhere to Try and find information about servicing my insignia, most garages wanted no less than £245, I'm going to Tey and source the parts you've listed hopefully be able to get them all from bullseye or somewhere similar, thank you again
i noticed that that the fuel filter gasket was the other way around when you removed it and you put new one in backwards. This caused a leak after a month in mine.
I learned to service my insignia by watching youtube videos. This is a good video to learn how NOT to service it. Why to make such a mess changing the oil filter?Put a piece of cardboard underneath the filterto drive out the oil. No need to remove the hose to change air filter. You can simply bend the plastics on the left and the air filter can be easily removed. Mesure the engine oil with a marked mug. 2.5 liters is more than enough. The air filter is not the same as the original. The new Bosch filter doesn't seem to be an activate pollen filter as the original, and i think he is installing it the upside down. My god!
I’ll gladly accept criticism but regardless of the cardboard there’s no clean way to do the oil change, it’s quite a reach up to the filter (I did this job again 2 weeks ago). In your comment I’m not sure when you say air filter if you’re referring to the engine air filter or the cabin air filter both times. Sometimes I remove more than necessary to make sure the job is visible, and cabin filters are available both as basic filters or the carbon filter you mention, that’s up to the vehicle owner’s preference. The cabin filter is the correct way up the arrow is direction of air flow not orientation. And if you’re only putting in 2.5 litres of oil when the capacity is 4.5 then you’re going to have problems. Great video, I'm servicing one at the weekend. And we'll said, I see Mr half an oil change didn't comment, his engine probably seized. There's always one or two in the comments so don't worry about them. Great video man, keep it up
I wouldn't give him my insignia for the service. He doesn't know how to replace filters. He destroyed almost everything, he doesn't even know about the drain plug in the fuel filter and he doesn't know that it is not allowed to vent the system like this. Just give the start to 2nd position several times without starting the starter because it kills the fuel pump
Because no one taught them how to work clean. And often you think you'll manage to do it clean but it splashes everywhere. If they were well organized they'd probably be enginers not mecanics.
They are not, but this guy certainly is. I had to stop watching this for that reason. I am not a trained mechanic but would never allow this sort of mess. This car will be dripping oil on his driveway for many weeks to come.
Oil filter location is absolutely stupid. Also diesel filter... Crazy expensive glow plugs... Might be a decent looking car but everything else is 💩💩💩💩💩💩

Great tip Steven, it’s not often I work on Vauxhalls so I just clean up after.
£50 for parts and your time, may as well give it to the garage, unless you want half a day doing it.....
I also find an empty 2l juice bottle, cut the bottom off.
Brilliant video
Everything covered
Cheers Pal
Be tackling this tomorrow.
Top Tutorial! Thanks for filming and editing!
Thank you for the feedback 👍
Your maf sensor securing clip positions have got my geometrics done in 😱😱
Have a suitable container to hand when draining the fuel filter, it holds more than you expect.
Very useful lesson on how to do it properly thank for posting it Mr Spanner. 👍
Always take the oil cap off before the sump plug so not to cause a vacuum to allow all the oil out

Good luck Danny, glad to help!

Hi, can you remember which way round you fitted yours? I’ve just done mine and put the groove part of the seal in first.
@@neilhopkins8673 I can remember that it was the opposite to what the video showed :D
Use a a bit of card board, make it into a chanel, shove it under oil filter housing crack it off let the oil run into something = no mess
Top tip 👍

There is always an idiot with a big mouth, on top of that doesn't know 💩💩💩
The oil filter I always do from above. Just found it easier
Are there any undertrays to remove first ?
10.25 that little collector did nothing 😂😂👍
I use a small funnel with a tube attached to a bottle for the removal of the oil filter it's a nightmare otherwise oil everywhere
very nice

You right mate , this is good example how DON'T DO IT SERVICE
The spanner on the fuel filter was painful to watch 😂😂
😂🙏
13mm too loose, half inch single hex socket better
Why are most mechanics dirty workers
Great question.
because they are HONKs (HONK translates to assistant without significant knowledge)
Because no one taught them how to work clean. And often you think you'll manage to do it clean but it splashes everywhere. If they were well organized they'd probably be enginers not mecanics.

What a mess...
Clueless, better videos on TH-cam that show you how to do job without the mess.
I've done on drive, it isn't difficult to do...
