      Thanks bro I really appreciate the comment. Biggest thing you could do is stay organized and take pictures of each step or piece you take apart. Feel free to comment if you have any questions. Get yourself a manual as well.

      How much would a fair shop charge for this?

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ElSlickVic honestly bro I'm not sure I've never taken something to a shop in my life. But if I had to take a guess I'd say somewhere between $300 to $600 depending on what parts you choose (brand of timing chain and gaskets) probably would charge the hourly rate of the shop times the amount of hours plus parts.

      How are torquing down the nut for the timing chain gear without it spinning? Do you have a wrench on the other side of the bike where you check and rotate the nut to find top dead center?

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skittlesmodz2939 you can either do that or if the cylinder and piston is off you can put a pipe through the top of the rod and rest it against the case where the cylinder meets the case or use a clutch holding tool like in the video on the inner clutch boss

    Question I have I have a 2000 model 400 EX yes had a headgasket leak and on it it's starting to run fine I mean you just hit the button and fire right up that was leaking out of the head so I tore it down and put a new headgasket in and bow cover gasket and all that and I watched the video of several videos I had to put it in time in time the only thing I got I don't understand I put it to the T mark it's not completely lined up with the glue groove in the low eyesight and IA low eyesight and I was wondering does it have to be right in that eyesight right rush out of the groove part Or can it be just a little bit to the left but still be an eyesight and will that keep one from not running I don't understand why it's not running because it is fine it is fine and the vials are going up-and-down Going up-and-down like it's supposed to and it's fine but it will not start I don't understand what I'm doing wrong but the question I have I know the Cam globe's gotta face down and you got 2 time remarks on the Cam gear that's gonna be level with the head but what I don't understand I've done that and have the tea in the eyesight but it's not in the underneath the groove part of the eyesight and I was wondering does it have to be right on that mark Is that maybe why my 4 will not start not start please if you can help please please call me 270709 2868 I am really about ready to pull my hair out I just don't know what I'm doing wrong and I guess the main question I'm asking you is when I Linda cama and a low's been down and you see the T mark does it have to be directly underneath that little groove in the eyesight

    Please help I have a 2005 400EX it has a 440 big bore kit my problem is its putting oil out the breather hose bad if I hook the hose up to the air box it sucks the oil out really really bad fast new rings jug Wiseco made sure rings was right What could be the problem please help !!! runs great no leaks

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's default wierd problem to have. If it was a 2 stroke I'd say you have bad crank seals but being a 4 stroke without being able to see for myself, it might have too much oil in it. I'm sure you checked that tho. It's a tough call not seeing it

    • @stoneycarter7789
      @stoneycarter7789 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It has 1.9 Quarts of oil but then it doesn't read on the dip stick after I start it in the morning I let it idle for 4-5 minutes and turn off let set for 3 minutes and it don't touch the dip stick dry then if I ride it oil blows out the breather tube bad .

    • @RickyLangford-i9f
      @RickyLangford-i9f 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sounds like the oil not returning back to the oil reserve tank. 400ex motor oil don't stay in the motor it cycles how much it needs into the motor maybe something is blocking the return and making come out else where.

    Can you do this without taking off the cylinder

    • @garagemcmatt
      @garagemcmatt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the cylinder can stay on but the head needs to come off to access the front chain slider. You might be able to drop the rear slider out the bottom with the head still on but idk who would only change one slider
