Can the blood sedimentation process be done without using Hespan and how long will it take?

Hi! Yes sure - you can do it without Hespan. Normally it should take no more than half an hour if the patient has an acute infection. Acute infections also influence the erythrocyte sedimentation rate. So if it does not sediment quickly - chances are also that the procedure is perhaps not the best clinically suited to the patient's disease profile. I think the longer you sediment (for patients with less severe infections) the more it becomes technical to maintain sterility etc. Possibly then a patient needs to be referred for an FDG PET if available.
