Fun fact: Tthe real life char 2Cs were being transported on a train when it was stopped by the German advance. The crews destroyed most of the tanks but a couple were still in working condition. One was taken to a shooting range as target practice and the other was kept as a war trophy
I thought that the fact that the Char2's were folklore legends was cool and the one that was a war trophy was n 99 or the Champagne and stayed in Germany until 1948 when the ussr stole it supposedly.

It never got combat. Train transporting them got bombed and germans just captured them.

I would LOVE to see WWI aircraft (and tanks) added, it'd be amazing to see all those wonderful designs in WT's engine and such. Especially since we already have plenty of ships from the era (including HMS Marlborough, of the same class as HMS Iron Duke which was BF1's dreadnought behemoth).
Glad too see the F.222.2 (with the 50 bomb load) get some use on the channel. It was my favorite bomber to use when I played, simply because it was surprisingly survivable if they didn’t go for the cockpit.
I'm always amused when I notice a tank this long and this heavy that still has a tip-over bar at the rear.

TBH I always assumed it was for carrying something, like the fascine in WWII.

Agree, unnecessary with the frozen pebbles friction war thunder has.
well that's because it's not for trenches, it's for craters the size of town thanks to the strategy of mines, digging tunnel underneath your enemy trench, fill it with massive amount of explosiv and blow up an entrie town and the hill it was sitting on, in few months. If you think it's not that big of a deal go search for test pictures or film of the FCM 1A and 2C, those are so massive they can't dodge fixed obstales.
Can’t wait to play this tank. Reminds we of battlefield 1!!!

Underneath the metal shell, a tank is filled with a dense carbon and liquid filled layer. Dotted here and there, this fleshy man armor doesn't just stop projectiles that enter the hull, but also operates the vehicle :D

Char 2c is about as close to ww1 tank as you can get, it was designed for that war but the armistice came first. They finished them in the early 20s and we're kept around mostly for propaganda purposes.

It would be nice if they added breaking ice under particular weight. Would be realistic and funny feature=)
It should have been there from start though. Imagine dropping a 5 ton bomb on ice - what will happen? An iced crater? Ice breaking should have been implemented alongside with ice itself.
Im surprised that they haven't added it since if you drive over some bridges, they collapse.

They can a tree tab where it’s ww1 to prewar as one tab and then on the other tab there’s the normal tree like how they have air, naval, helicopters etc., in the ww1 tab it’ll have its own tabs for army, naval, air. It be a sweet way to add them
I'd love for them to do it with Cold War and beyond stuff as well. They wouldn't have to worry about br compression as much if they sectioned stuff off by era, giving each era its own bracket of 1.0 to 10.0 or whatever. Hell, they could even have each era have it's own set of reserve vehicles - like pre-missile jets and maybe some super props could be considered reserves for the Modern era aircraft, which would entice more people to play different eras if you got a few free vehicles to give you a taste. Though I think it's too late to change the trees as radically as that, especially with their business model of selling premium modern vehicles to people who want to play the modern stuff now and not grind for years to get to it.
@@Khotetsu I think they should have three options. First is 1917-1938 second is 1939 to 1969 and third is 1970 to present
@@karlycarter6569 That's along the lines of what I was thinking, would hopefully give them enough space to balance the different eras so that you don't have things like Arado 234's fighting F-86's that can run circles around them, completely negating their only defense, while also avoiding the Sabres from being uptiered to the point that they're fighting F-104s and such.
The French bomber at 20 thousand feet dropping all 52 bombs on a bace in air RB is amazing. Even better on arcade mode you can wipe the enemy bases.
The 2C is such a fun tank to use and play but I feel like for its BR it’s to easily countered/dealt with it.
Yeah 2.3 is too high seeing it's so big and slow. Plus the low pen and the fact the premium one with arguably a better gun is only 1.7.

In real life the panzers had some real trouble with the char b1 which is basically this but watered down

Seeing you non-pen that bt in that first game reminded me of yesterday when I non penned a Marders front plate with 400 mm + of penetration in the centurion mk3. The shell “shattered” on less than 30 mm 5 times in a row
The diference is that this tank has an awfull penetration, it only has 55mm
I have actually taken the Maus across the ice on Poland and it took half the time it would have if I was on land.
for this idea i would say maybe another tech tree? or maybe separate the trees from like periods. like ww1, then interwar, right before ww2, then ww2, then cold war. that might be cool, like how they separated bluewater fleet and coastal fleet

I haven't even gotten to where thermals meet no thermals...I imagine Inter-WW fighting is about as bad.
They could always simply extend tech trees in the opposite direction, adding a Tier 0 under the Reserves. We already have WWI-era (and earlier) ships, now this which is effectively WWI, they can all simply live in the current tree.

A lot of French Tanks were actually tough nuts to crack for German AT crews and tank crews. The Pnz: 2's had to wolf pack B1's so they couldn't get singled out, and even then they usually just got mission kills on them. AKA disabled or rendered combat ineffective, for all the tank combat that happened in the battle of France. It was the surprise and coordination (as well as where the Germans were able to push the bulk of the French army and British Expeditionary forces) that won the day and forced the quick surrender.
Attempt 10 - Please play the SAu 40 tank destroyer. It's one of the strangest looking TDs in the game and I love watching your french-tank videos!

yeah, its basically a cupola thats spinning. back in the day, that would give you 360 degree vision with a fair bit of protection

Phly, I challenge you to try and get 4 kills with the AA20 Nords in the G91 R/4 in Air RB. They work alot like the fire flash but with a bit more of a punch, pretty fun way to play the G91!
What keys do you use to fly them? Alt + WASD?

@Hank Kingsley I use the numpad buttons 6,4,5,8, almost like WASD but on the numpad. Takes some getting used to but I can send you my binds and tell you how to set the axis up if you want.

@Hank Kingsley Mouse hand, if I need to make adjustments to the plane or need to pull hard to dodge something, I can do that with my left hand so this control style works for me.
I'm surprised Phly didn't mention how good the canon is. It has meh-decent pen but a very good post-pen damages, pretty much a garanteed OHK if you can pen, even on remote parts of a tank. Armour, while being low, I still manage to have good bounces with it.
I love that spinning vision system, must have been noisy as all hell though keeping that spun up.

1:31 Yeah so the french army was told to retreat instead of fight so the only conflict was with small resistance pokets with a few tanks here and there. When the germans met the french tanks, they were majorly disadvantaged and this is what started the tiger program. The tiger and panther were made to deal with things like the b1 bis, the KVs, and the IS sieries.
The music from Battlefield 1 was a very nice touch Phly. That game has epic music.

The char 2c is a WW1 design just not built until the interwar period
There's an online ww1 aircraft game called Rise Of Flight which does fabric aircraft so well. All the planes are rigid-body physics systems (like BeamNG) so they flex as forces are put on them, and break apart as they're shot up.

B1 Bis performed quite well in 1940 against German tanks. Issue was the capacity to engage enemy tanks was quite poir.

Honestly I would definitely want world War 1 era Aircrafts, tanks and more warships into War Thunder, and also more ww2 aircrafts and tanks and ships that are obscure.

From what I learned, the French new that the 2C's were obsolete so they kept them off the front line amd shipped them around by rail for moral purposes. That's how the germans captured them on a train.

I had to have nailed one of these 3 times with the 75mm on the Hs-129 “duck” and he kept on trucking.

Doctrine was the issue. French tanks actually when massed together did very well. But normal doctrine was for them to be piecemeal for infantry support. The Germans just circled them and called in air support on them.
BF1 music was just great. That was the last great Battlefield game and I miss when it was the current BF game.
