Chris, I hate to say it, but I wouldn't go too far with the welding before I fit the door and the bonnet at the same time. I know it is hard with a dummy frame, but it is important in my opinion. Just sayin'. Regarding the holes Sean is right, they are a little too small, but it is still doable I think. My old hole puncher was with the same diameter and worked well for me.
+Elin Yakov I don't like you anymore, Elin 😐. I'm not sure that I can do a fit of the bonnet that will be valid without having the front mounts there. I'll see what I can do.
+Elin Yakov I think a plan may be too get the driver's outer sill tacked in, then move to the boot. Get that done and land the body on the frame. That way I can align it all properly, including the bonnet and make adjustments if necessary. With that done, I pull the body back off, finish the welding, and start the body work in preparation for painting.
Chris Fisher yep, sounds good! This way if (I hope not) something doesn't fit perfect you can easily undo and adjust it! I might be overthinking it, but in my head there is a bell ringing ;)
Hi Chris. In my view those punched holes are too small which is part of the penetration problem. The hole is filling with weld before the weld gets hot enough to penetrate. The holes need to be 6 to 7 mm min,
Yes, I think that's the approach I'm going to take. The chassis is all done, including the motor. There's work I want to do under the tub (preservation) so I don't think I'll land it permanently until after I'm done with that.

+Sean Fay Hi, Sean. Well, that's unfortunate, but makes sense. Guess I should pull it back off and punch them bigger. One step forward... Thanks!
why dont you get frame done running gear tyres etc on engine block in , put tub on forgood , put your bonnet and doors on, then finish off the panels
