Wonderful video! This must have been shot from 1960-1964, while the Wildcat was still in operation, and before the Swiss Skyride. I guess this was either on a 4th Of July or a Labor Day, because they shot off fireworks on those evenings. In any event, it's very sweet.
The Shooting Star roller coaster had a special tunnel enclosed high speed curve at the end of the ride which surprised everyone onboard. It was the best roller coaster in Ohio.
Nice footage.....still wondering what the stunt was on the ramp with the water skiers....guy dressed as grandma knocking them off? lol.....pre OSHA shit....love it
A friend of mine reminded me that during that time, black folks were not allowed in Coney Island. I freaked out! How could such a thing have happened in MY city during MY lifetime? She said, "They allowed us in to Sunlight Pool at the end of the season because they had to clean it anyway." Unbelievable but true...
I had heard or seen somewhere a few years ago something like that but as I had scrolled down a sec to look at the comments and see yours, I scrolled back up and see at about 7:00, it looks like a black kid, no?
