- Dave stops by the popular campus spot Hounddog's, which looks like more of a bar than a pizza place.

Never seen a pizza look so thick while maintaining such a crunchy sound!
Yeah that was one weird looking pizza but it looked pretty good but to me football and eat it all day.
@@rg20322 def looked like football pizza
This is a real banging pizza not the overrated cracker Dave raves about
@A M I've never understood why he enjoys 'cracker' pizza. It just tastes like the thin and crispy base from Domino's which is terrible.
Reminds me of your mom.
That actually looks like my ideal pizza. Before he took it out of the box I figured extremely doughy and undercooked, but it looked and sounded awesome 👍
This kind of pizza is way better than the 8.8 cracker Dave likes. Easy 9.
I've worked in Columbus Oh doing college football all over the country, who lead him to these New York slices? They do thin square cuts and have some of the best Mom an Pop spots anywhere I've been by far, if your in Columbus and it's not square cut, your in the wrong spot!
@@Amzyy No way. This doughier style usually sucks. Crispy thin crust all the way BUT honestly, I will admit the pizza in this video actually does look good. It's not my style either but I would definitely eat that. Definitely in the 7's.
One 7.3 for a pizza Dave “didn’t like” everyone knows it should’ve been an 8.2+
@@sportspokerguy3506 I live in Athens GA an that's garbage pizza he doing them wrong cause he Michigan guy, having played in Columbus an had they're pizza. 100% he picked crap spots north of campus.
Every time I hear Dave say it's not his style, but still good, you can easily add at least a full point to his score if it is a style you enjoy.
Excatly!! Please notice that there is no flop whatsoever in this pizza. It ought to tell you, give you a clue Portnoy, that this is something special!!! 7.3 is very conservative here. This is a great pizza just not your style. I love your reviews nonethless.
My favorite local spot. Been eating hound dogs for 20 years and it never disappoints. Even the first 10 where I never went there sober 😂
I know where I'm eating the next time I'm up in C-Bus.
Hitting this spot up when i move to Cbus
Gotta get the Smokin' Joes crust too! It's the best!
Every so often Dave reviews a pizza that doesn’t get high marks but I’d still smash tf out of it. This is one of those times
Yeah brother, that was a nice pie
Columbus is famous for thin square cut, he's doing them wrong being Michigan guy north of Campus pizza. He should be on campus getting the good stuff.
Everybody knows the rules
Absolute same. Looks and sounds tremendous.
I lived in Columbus years ago an never would I smash that shyt!!! They got the best spots anywhere!!! They're on par with New York maybe better but they square cut an thin slice or zero. He hit the zeros cause he a Michigan man doing them dirty on North High scared to hit south on campus. Much love to Columbus pizza coming from Athens Georgia!! Y'all beat them Wolverines up again!!! We still champions but y'all got fukd on pizza review!!!
One of the best pizzas ever that Dave doesn’t like. Everybody knows the rules!
@@jdawg9137um... College student here at OSU... Hound dogs slaps and is fucking busy at night. You have no idea what you are talking about if you think no one in Columbus eats hound dogs. Everyone knows hound dogs. Pizza and pint specials at hound dogs is a Ohio State staple
@@SleepyHooligan I'm an OSU graduate an former Buckeye player and I disapprove of your message to the masses!!! We do square cuts thin, we do Adritacos an Tommy's but he up North High street where I have former teammates in NFL live,( I still play) you a rich kid huh? This was staged at 10 am before he went to Hollywood Casino out west broad. You should be ashamed of yourself not representing our real pizza! I miss OSU an will retire there, if it ain't square cut we don't eat that shyt young buck!
@@jdawg9137 Never heard of those, they need to work on their PR.
@@jdawg9137yikes. This soup of a comment aged like milk. Sucks to suck. Maybe next year?
@@mickym.6711 I work for OSU, I know the best pizza in Columbus bud.
SERIOUSLY underscored , zero flop and good crunch , not burnt at all . Dave dropped the ball here , you know the rules
Absolutely. At least an 8.1!
He likes it burnt. I agree with you though.
😂😂You guys must be from the mid west if you think that's in the 8s
@@selokin3974 I agree not in the 8's, but a little higher. He does like it burnt though.
That is WILDLY illegal to put that pizza in the 8s
Been going here for years. Since they opened. One of the founders was a fraternity brother of my college roommate. The sauce is great. You can get it in different spicey levels. Also, the happy hour special we used to take advantage of was awesome! Pizza and a pitcher for like $15!
Where I live a pizza and a pitcher Is $40
Hell yeah! OSU student here the 15$ special is the only deal on food that might beat Tais Asian Bistro on lane for what you get.
They still have it! It's $20 but a smoking deal and that is the #1 best pizza in Columbus!
Prez blew it by ordering the regular crust.. should have done the thin option here. 7.3 is low. Houndogs deserves to be in the 8's
Thin square cuts only in Columbus please.
That pie looks excellent and met Dave’s “Offensive Lineman rule” perfectly.
That’s a pizza.
Fluffy airy crunchy?
@@bettymurphygrumpus8899 “Looks heavy but is light” is how Dave explains it.
I haven’t lived there for 20 years, this takes me back. The three degree thing is the sauce. You can get it normal, medium, or spicy. Loved that place.
Their pizza is still the best in Columbus by far
Square cuts in Columbus Yuppys.
@@jdawg9137 there’s nothing worse than a guy who lived in a city in college trying to come along and be the pizza purity police. You live in Georgia now, go eat a peach or something. Btw, they sell thin crust, square cut also.
@@Nemonurwingy When in Chicaco, when in New York, when in Columbus.
@@jdawg9137 they have a square cut thin crust as well.
Hound dogs is legitimately one of the best pizza places I've ever been to. They home make their ranch and all the pizza tastes fresh and amazing.
Their smokin joes garlicky parmesany crust is absolutely amazing.
Don't forget the howlin' hot sauce
When you opened the box that pizza looked freaking good .
That's my style of pizza 1000%. Thick, light, and crunchy. I love that kind of crust.
Same. I might have to make the 90-minute drive up there next weekend.
@@cjmunnee3356 It is without a doubt worth the 90 minute trip. I'm local and every time I'm out at night, hound dogs has to be on the agenda.
@@braydonbriggs9066 I'll definitely make it one of these weekends.
I'd definitely go out of my way to try this pie. that crust looked amazing
From one Hound Dog to another, everybody knows Dave loved the Dog Picture on the pizza box.
Surprises he didn't say hi joey!
Yes Hound dogs is such my favorite place in Ohio! Awesome to see them getting some love. Their smokin Joe's crust is to die for and they have different levels of spice in their sauces. Now I have to go to Columbus for some!!
I'd like to see a list of the top pizzas Dave gave high ratings to that weren't his style. Of course, you want to visit the 8+ scores, but I think anything 7+ that isn't his style is almost just as worth the trip. I almost find it more enticing since you really gotta do stuff right to get a 7+ in a style that isn't his ideal.
7 is a high score well above average
@@cookinbricks 7.2 is the Average score that was calculated of all his videos combined.
Everyone knows the rules….watch Dave’s pizza reviews and not be able to control myself and not order a pizza
So with the double negative you didnt order pizza right?
@@ElDiabloBlanco31 sorry did I mention I’m high when watching these? Lol
I ordered a pizza last week and the week before because of these videos
Everybody*
I always think about ordering pizza but then I talk myself out of it because I remember I'm in north Texas where there's nowhere within a half hour drive for delivery or pick up that would score a 6.1 rating or higher.
OSU grad here. Hound Dog's and Catfish Biffs were the biggest pizza spots, along with Adriatico's. I was gone before Mikey's Late Night Slice and Paukie Gee's.
Adriaticos was my favorite by far... Hounddogs was great at 4am lol
RIP catfish Biff's.... Forever missed 😢
Dave hated Adriatico's. Scored it a 5.4.
indeed Catfish Biff's
Paulie Gee's isn't in the same league as Houndogs. IMO it's a 7.1, and Houndogs is an 8.5
cant tell you how happy I am to see him reviewing a pizza place right by me.
Word has it he hit Sextons Pizza in Hilliard and gave it an 8.1 but the video hasn’t been published yet.
Should’ve done Mikeys Late Night
@@mimicthegreat Mikey’s is good. Sextons is better.
@@mimicthegreat I think he did do Mikeys at both the casino and by North Market
This was my spot in college....15 years ago. Good to know it's still there.
Wasn't gonna say it on your last columbus OH vid because I figured you'd be gone by now, but terita's pizza was always my family's go to. I would say great new haven style, they only mess up by cutting squares. I'm sure you could ask for triangles. Hope you get to enjoy that little spot if you're still in town!! Keep em comin!
I love teritas. Have you tried Black Dog yet? Or Sextons? Both excellent pies
you gotta get the Smokin Joes crust when you go to Houndogs! that's what they are known for!!!
Houndogs is actually my favorite pizza place and ive lived in NYC, Boston, Visited Chicago, and now live in Toronto where ive tried the best pizzas of each spot. Houndogs guardener with smokin Joes crust is still the best pizza ive ever had.
Houndogs is a great pizza. Prez just ordered the wrong crust. They have a thin crust which is the bomb. 7.3 is low but fair for this thicker crust. Prez missed the boat here. Also - Prez looking over his shoulder nervously... because he's in C-Bus and everyone knows the rules... He's not Buckeye Nation!
Dave will take anyone as a sponsor these days!!!!
even your mom
I would too if they were going to give me $$$$$$$$.
@@curbyourshi1056 have some damn integrity man
@@Farquad76.547 Like Dave? Hahahaha.
now he needs a read for a sleazy law firm
That looks like a awesome pizza!
I go there every other week, my favorite pizza in Columbus. Spicy sauce and the smokin joes crust is perfect. Plus $6 pitcher deal from 4-7pm. 10/10
The possibility of a cheesy filled crust startled Dave for a moment @1:24 He starts to fumble but as the consummate professional that he is, he quickly gathers his thoughts and moves on with the review.
It was so wholesome when he said "we are gonna have to investigate that crust"
Hey guys…my son Jonathan and I had that same pizza this past Friday night. We thought it was awesome, maybe the best pizza in Columbus. We would give it a solid 10. The problem is that Dave likes burnt pizza. There is a big difference between char and burnt!
The dough is usually just the vessel for cheese and sauce. Sometimes though, someone makes a pizza dough so good it transcends. That looks like such a pizza.
You are correct... it is great pie. Prez would have given the thin crust an 8+ He screwed the pooch here
Glad to see Columbus getting some love. He shit on us last time he was here. 😂😂
He has put in the work and I respect that. You can't deny he has eaten a lot of pizza from all over the place. The 10,000 hours pizza expert.
@@projectblue8942 I think combined, he might be eating an entire pizza per week -- maybe two. I don' think his health is at risk.
I just had them when I visited from Cincinnati. My favorite pizza place in the world
Potentially the best pronunciation of “investigate” I’ve ever heard
as someone who hasnt done enough coke yet to kill of all my tastebuds, and as such can only judge pizza based on how much crunch it has because thats the only texture i can recognize, this pizza looks like it could easily be a 8+ for me
Lol😂
Thanks for all the leg work Prez!
Dave was right, I was not expecting that score.
Oh snap, that's my favorite pizza joint! The pizzas are incredible, and the subs are MASSIVE. Great joint! 👍🏽
Hound dogs is solid for sure. Great specials as well
This is the best pizza in Columbus. Smokin’ Joes with spicy sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and feta is my go to.
That pizza looked sooooo good. My kind of pizza.
Hounddog's was my spot when I went to Ohio State. Many a good Late nite in that joint with friends. Glad to see it's still there and still kicking hard with the good pie
Dave bragging about helping small businesses w 50 mill, no big deal, everybody knows he's the most humble guy.
Just ask him, he'll tell you
I’m from Columbus and I love this spot
That pizza tbh is right up my alley. Looked great.
This place is amazing at 3am when you want pizza and you had a night out. I lived in columbus ohio 28 years and im glad I got to know hound deezzies is what me and my friends called it lol. Great pizza great toppings. It's a 8.3 all day for that area and a 9.1 for the convenience of being open super late.
They close at 1am now. 😢
that actually looks like amazing pizza. crispy but super airy dough. DEF Would go there.
looks like dominos. wtf you on?
Being from Columbus, this is one of my faves. Nice to see a good score.
Would be awesome to see a review of Little Sicily's in Brice, Ohio... 1 of the best pizza's ive personally ever ate and Im not even from Ohio
Why is he getting New York slices in Columbus, Oh??? I've worked in every major college city an Columbus has the best Mom an Pop thin crust square cuts anywhere! You go to Columbus Oh an it's not square cut thin, your in the wrong pizza pub!!!
@@jdawg9137there’s a couple spots for it… but in columbus you gotta go with the square cut like tommys or rubinos
‘i’ve had a lot of pizza, so maybe trust me’ 😂🐐🐐
One bite everyone knows Dave Portnoy is the type to drink seltzer beer
What kind of NPC doesn’t like carbonated water?
That pizza looked so damn good, should be 8.1
That was my score.
8.4. With toppings, converting it to a real slice of pizza, 9.5
Absolutely. The cheese hanging off the first bit alone got it that score. Plus the crunch on a thick pie. I don’t get his score on this one. But he’s the prez. His channel his score.
@@fitfogey I agree but damn man I would love to try that pizza
@@JerIsCool Same fam.
Hound dogs is amazing. I'm biased as a local but, that's where I go when I can afford it!
that’s a monster score for a pizza 🍕 dave doesn’t really care for… everybody knows the rules
Ate here for decades. It's really great pizza sober or drunk. 8.3 could be 8.5
VERY surprising amount of crunch and minimal flop on that. Well done hound dogs. 7.3 is a strong score
I think it's a 7.8 or higher but he only likes thin charred crackers.
Thanks for the spoiler dick
Looks like a much better iteration of a Domino's style cheese pizza. I wish the pizza in my neighborhood looked half as good as that.
Okay, so before I watch this review, I had to view a Pizza Hut commercial. That's just nuts. On to the review!
Beginning of the video ad for the people
Ideal windows
Columbus actually has a lot of great Pizza Choices ….. I’ve been to NYC , Chicago , Hartford , Boston …. And they have some amazing places for sure ….. But for a Midwest City …. Columbus has some great Pizza 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
I am still confused by the Jacks review.
so is Dave
This is my favorite place in Columbus, he missed the "3 degree" they offer regular / spicy / howlin hot sauces. The howling hot is where it's at. That crunch, no joke and open 24 hours. Bars closed? To Hound Dogs we go! Cheers
had 7.1 ready to go... then 7.3?? wow
Finally you went to a good spot in Columbus
Houndogs is one of my 3 "go to" spots in Columbus. Great pizza and a cool vibe.
that looks like a great pizza!
Prez: "I thought it was gonna be super greasy, it's really not"
Bottom of pizza box: completely soaked in grease
They butter the crust, hence the pool.
Highest score seen in Columbus in years (looking at you Blue Jackets). Everybody knows the rules.
🎤🎶🎸 "Where bold meets tradition, let em know what they're missin." "One sip of busker remember tha name..." 🎸🎶🎤
I play this game with myself where I guess the score based on Dave's mannerisms and I get it dead on about 4/5 times. I legitimately shock myself lol. I was thinking 6.9 before he said, “people may be surprised with my score”.... Bumped it up to a 7.3 and boom!
I was thinking 7.1
Yep, what he was saying moved it into the 7s, I guessed 7.2.
Hounddogs is stright 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 go there as much as i can even with an hour drive. Definitely my go to spot after OSU games
One pizza for the people, everybody knows the quality resembles Domino’s.
wrong
i'm 36. when i was 22 to 24 years old i would get drunk, then drive down to hound dog's and get a pizza. it's amazing drunk. great pizza. also there is heat to the sauce. they have five different styles of pizza sauce and two different main pizza crusts. he needed to buy ten pizzas to actually try them all. they used to be every night open until 4 a.m. from what i hear they are now till 1 a.m.
nothing like getting drunk and driving
That pizza looks and sounds amazing. For anyone that doesnt have the same preference as Dave and likes this style of pizza, its easily a 7.8-7.9.
Damnit.. I want some pizza now. lol
Thanks for the video
When you know the score Dave's gonna give to the decimal before he even gives it, then you know you've watched too many pizza reviews. Everybody knows the rules.
You should have had Hound dog's back in '94! Their thin crust was the bomb.
Is it always just a cheese pizza?
I have a similar question!
Always, only way to make a fair comparison between all restaurants.
No, sometimes there are two pizzas.
I'd look that place up.
Looks great.
Is it always just a cheese pizza ? 🧀 🍕
I have a similar question!
Are you always this gay?
No, sometimes there are two pizzas.
If you're in Columbus, hit up Tommy's in Upper Arlington (not the one on campus) and ask for a pie from "the old oven." Classic midwestern style with cracker thin crisp and loads of flavor. One of the best I've had despite living within minutes of some of Dave's favorites back in NJ (eg Delponte's, Vic's, Nunzio's, Pete and Elda's, etc). Tommy's is right up there with those all-stars.
Hound Dogs is a great place to grab a drink and a pizza with. Always a good time there.
A good movie reviewer understands what a good action movie looks like and reviews it on the same scale as other genres, even if action movies aren't their thing. This makes Dave look like an absolute amatuer.
congrats on 900k dave. a million soon
Hound dogs is a great spot. Really good night time/late night spot. weekends you can get a pizza at like 2 am. High quality not my style either but easily in the 8s.they have multiple styles too that’s their hand tossed there’s a thin if you prefer. If you’re in columbus 100% recommend checking out.
Hounddogs->Old North Arcade -> Ledos. Perfect night out. Everybody knows the rules.
This.
The fact that the slice didn't flop, literally made me gasp out loud.
Hound Dog is awesome pizza! Had it. 9.2 easily!
Try Seven Mile Pies in stone harbor NJ
I haven’t seem any reviews of Brooklyn NY pizza are there any?
That is 100% my type of pizza. Looks phenomenal.
It’s my second favorite pizza place in Cbus. It’s a pizza place and the other part of the restaurant was a bar. Parking is its only downside. When you are back in the city, try Eagles in New Albany.
*I tried reviewing pizzas in my current state and area (Virginia) but the one bite app never works. Please fix it.*
35 year on this earth, and all of it in Columbus, Hound Dogs is drunk pizza. I used love it when I partied on campus, and the best part is that it was 24hrs. I had it sober, and it's just decent pizza. In the 7s is a fair score
Hats off to their landscaper!
Next time in Columbus try Panzeras, Freddie Lombardi been there 50 years (about), best in town for sure
Reminds me of like a rising crust DiGiorno / Delissio pizza, but fresh. Looks super thick, but it's just puffy with air and usually crunchy.
I lived in Clintonville when they opened; always good pizza. Definitely try the mid and spicy sauce if you're into the heat. Unique, always good
When he lifted it and had almost no flop......
I want to try this ASAP
Dave can you please review Marion's pizza in Dayton while you are in Ohio? You are my pizza fix here in the Philippines, there is no pizza here! Thanks bro for what you do, all my best to you and your family.
I like that you still give styles you do not like a fair chance.
