    Noooo what just happened - please continue the chalkboard explanation in a different video. I was like yes yes yes this is what I need and then it switched to an ESalon testimonial lol . I'd love to see more of the chalkboard explanation if you're able. You are incredibly knowledgeable and have such an amazing positive aura thank you for all you videos.

    I am always so excited to share this at home color options with you! I know I would be upsetting some hairdressers. But in reality like I've said before, people will color their hair at home regardless, might as well inform them to do it correctly. I love to share my knowledge and tips with everyone! My goal is to have everyone have their dream hair. Whether I got you there in a salon, or through my tutorials. :) So I was really excited to see such an amazing service and be able to share it with you all. Even though this I do have to say, my tutorials or suggestions aren't ever meant to completely replace a hairdresser. Also if you are trying to jump say 4 or more levels, esalon may say that isnt possible. And that is why I love this company. It really is fool proof. :) But if you are looking a couple for a change of a couple of levels check this out!! Thank you all for watching!

      Oh my goodness I don't know how I missed this video, but I'm sooo glad I went to check your channel before going through anywhere else! I'll definitely be getting on the bandwagon with you!! I trust your word, I trust your judgement. If you say it's good, I know you are telling Nothing but the truth! You wouldn't steer us wrong just to make $ and that's 1 thing I love about you! To anyone who might get upset, don't worry about them. People will find something to pick at no matter what. Thank you for letting us know about this company!!

    You should include when you buy a box initiall with the Esalon, it's actually a subscription, 20$ plus 5 for shipping for up to every 12 weeks. And that the set of the gloves and clips and timer and such is an extra 12$... Still a great deal! But I feel like it should be included? Not like it's your responsibility at all =] I just think it's nice information to include.

    • @Cattastic848

    Don't forget to tell everyone you have to keep buying this stuff on auto ship. I took your advice and tried the hair care and it's awful. My hair is like straw when I use it. Now I can't find a way to cancel products. Very dissatisfied.

    I LOVE your mini master class idea.. DO MORE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! Not that I would try to do my own hair necessarily (I'm a light blonde with highlights, a few lowlight pieces here and there and very picky about the color) but so I understand more how to communicate with my stylist and know what I and he are talking about. And it's actually really interesting to me, but I'm not going to go to beauty school. About the product: I'm surprised gloves don't come with it, but I'm shocked (in a good way) that all the other extras do. As I was watching the video, I was thinking, 'No way is she going to do her hair with this', so it doesn't surprise me that you didn't. I can understand why you wouldn't, being a hairstylist, but I agree with some other comments regarding how you would know how good it is if you don't try it. The concept is amazing though I think.

    I don't have much hair left so I wear wigs full time but there was a salon in my hometown who did something similar. You went in once for a consultation. They developed the formula for you, applied it the first time (at salon prices) but then you could order the color after that for about $30. It was really great! Glad to hear there is a company doing something nationwide!

    Oh man. I tried eSalon because of your recommendation. Big mistake. It seems like redheads and brunettes have better luck with their color. They're experts? Ok, so why do they seem to send everyone 15v developer? I just watched another youtube reviewer and read a totally separate blog review, all had 15v developer. (ok so 3 people is not definitive proof.) I talked to someone at eSalon and said I need ASH blonde. Maybe I wasn't adamant enough about it. My hair is orange now. I've never had results like this with box color from the store. I was not trying to go from brown to blonde, I was actually trying to go slightly darker, from light-medium blonde (warm) to medium ash blonde upon their recommendation!!! Don't fall for the gimmicks, people! If you've had success with box color in the past, just stick with it!

    • @chasey1978
      @chasey1978 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I've hardly had any issues with box dye. If you stick to close to your natural hair color or pick neutral or cool tones you will be ok. It's when you want to jump in color or go from neutral to a golden tone(can cause brassy red in colors) makes it harder. Plus my sister gets her hair dyed at the salons and says it fades after 3 weeks. No different from box dye.

    Speaking of boxed dyes, I have to compliment and recommend Loreal Feria Absolute Platinum for someone trying to go blonde. Had to do my hair twice, but after toning with Wella T10 after 1st dye, then T18 after saturating second time with bleach, my hair is white with slight amt of color. Very thick bleach so subbed some of my clear 20 vol. Dev, but still helps to use filler b4 as well as coconut oil to help it from drying out too much. Thank you so much for all your help and great posts. You helped me to get my hair right for about $40-$50. Have 5 kids, so not much $ goes to the salon. Also thanks to somegirljess, who is a great "product tester" for people that can't go to the salon.

    I have just used esalon for the first time after box dyes seemed to go brassy quickly. Asked for dark blonde all over. I am pleased with the result. Having watched many videos about hair colouring now it looks like even permanent hair colours fade over time. The answer is to use neutralisers to lessen the fading between re-colouring.

    I really liked the eSalon product, but the company could not give me a product that would lighten my hair more than a golden blonde and I have dark blonde hair to begin with. They basically said I could not go more than about one shade lighter. It was almost the color I wanted, but not quite so I had to go back to the regular drug store box color for a lighter blonde. It did cover grays very well and I was impressed with that aspect. Elle, I am surprised that you could get a blonde product that is so light. Did you give them your current color instead? Maybe that is what I should do. Let me know your thoughts.

    Found is company on my own . . . well, you surf enough about a subject and links appear in your browser. LOVE esalon, I found a "box" color that I loved and it worked great the 1st time, the 2nd time - wow WRONG! So, I thought what the heck, let me give esalon a try - told them what I did and THEY FIXED MY HAIR COLOR! Med Golden Brown, I have been warming up the color each time, you know how red fades so didn't want to make that commitment . . . so, I'm gradually going redder - with the auto delivery, I'm making the jump to Auburn. I can't say enough about how my hair feels, how great the color looks, I'm headed back to the color I was in my early 20's. I love your channel and wish I had found you sooner! Great tips, styles - Awesome information.

    Ok so this service really is legit. I decided to really complicate the process with my yellow toned blonde hair and mousey roots with a little pink at the ends and requested an even all over color mixed for me. I gave pictures of my typical everyday styled hair, a close up of the ends to see the yellowish tone and pink ends, as well as a snap of my grown out roots. I was contacted within 2 hours via email to make recommendations, ask further questions, and really go back and forth with me to ensure I would be satisfied with the outcome of what was sent to me. We decided on a shade darker, cooler, and 15 volume developer with some added instructions on a few things to do the day before I color. Mind you, this is the $10 start up deal and in no way shape or form would I expect this level of thorough here!

  • @CountWannabe
    @CountWannabe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Whenever you are talking about color you are talking about TWO Different Actions - LIFT & DEPOSIT. The TYPE and LEVEL of Colorant determines PART of the Equation and the Developer determines PART of the equation and the STARTING LEVEL determines PART of the equation as well as TIMING and if the Hair is already colored or chemically processed. With COLOR: You get one level of lift with 10 Volume as long as the shade used is AT LEAST TWO LEVELS LIGHTER than the starting color - Otherwise the amount of LIFT is CANCELLED - OUT by the amount of DEPOSIT. EXAMPLE: A level 5 Brown colored with a Level 6 Haircolor and 10 Vol. Developer, the hair is Lifted ONE LEVEL from 5 to 6 then, it is colored back down to level 5 by color deposit - It may look BRIGHTER but, not significantly LIGHTER than the starting level until it begins to fade. High -Lift Blonde Shades and 40 Volume can lighten up to 5 Levels and tone correctly but they work best on hair Level 4 /5 or Lighter. ALSO: The first three levels (1, 2 & 3 ) require TWICE as much lifting power as the next three levels to reach the next level - EXAMPLE: Level 1 Black needs Twice As Much LIFT to reach Level 2 as a Level 4 would need to reach Level 5, this is why it is so difficult to get Levels 1, 2 & 3 to the lighter shades even with bleaching.

    Ha!! I can't even get perfect color in a salon. I decided to get away from the very pale blond that I wore for so many years...have tried at least five times to just do a neutral dark blond. It is real dark on me and I don't mind that. What I do mind is that is has REDDISH TONES!!! Everyone says No, it looks brown to me. NO IT LOOKS RED TO ME.
    PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO!! I have some people who have told me to put a diluted Titanium/gray cover on hair and it will turn a beautiful color, minus the red/brassy tones. If I have to pay at the salon, they need to deliver the color I want. I mean it can't be that hard???

      For grey coverage you should be using 20 vol. You can also try using a bit of the developer on a cotton ball and wipe in on any of the areas that fade the worst (before colouring), this is called "pre softening", it helps open up the hair cuticle to allow the colour in penetrate. Hope that helps :)

      Mini Vegan actually for greys, it's 10 volume unless you use Schwarzkopf, in which case, it's 30 volume. 20 volume lifts by 1 level, in some cases, it can leave the person with 'glowing' roots, when it uncovers their natural warmth, I've seen people take on a slight orange hue, so unless you're colouring someone who is a 7 and you're making them a 8, stick to 10 volume. I had issues in the past with 20 vol, never with 10

      Fab that is not true at all, using a 10 vol will not cover gray

    Girl I thought you were going to tell us how to achieve that level 9 from a level 3 in one day 😞... I'm tired of going to salons ,spending $300 for it to still be messed up and them having a manager "correct" it, only it's never corrected but only to find out my hair is melted off 😩... I need YOUR advice!

    • @Ellebangs
      @Ellebangs  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well going from a level 3 to a level 9 is pretty impossible without having to bleach multiple times.. And can only be done healthy it virgin hair.. So there isn't a one step solution for this

      ellebangs You say you can't lift hair 6 levels. Aren't you lifting your hair color atleast 6 levels at once?

      Kim R she isn't lifting 6 levels from her own hair. She is probably 2 to 3 levels away from the blonde she has.

    But I have a lot of highlight and then I lightened my natural color so the transition wouldn't be drastic ( not in that order of course lol I did the color then the bleach ) . When I went to this site they said they don't have a lightening

    I haven't yet had a colour at home fail (fingers crossed!) although I have never tried to go blonde or much lighter at home. I have done various brunette shades, reds, coppers, purples and black at home but always go to my salon to go blonde. I would say box colour is great for any of those but not for going much lighter or blonde.

    Man this was exactly the problem I had with boxed dye recently...my virgin hair was lighter, the ends were dark and now I have a weird reverse ombre going on where my roots are lighter red and the ends are daaark red almost brown. Not cute. You would think I'd learn not to mess with boxed dyes! Kinda scared to touch my hair but KNOW I need to do something...will see if this service can help me out, thank you for the video!

    Hi! Desperately seeing help! I know the makers of these videos do not always answer these ?'s, but perhaps at least some knowledgeable readers will! (and yes, I know best answer is go to professional) However I am on very tight budget right now, looking for work, and will all know; like it or not; appearance matters. So, I really really appreciate the service provided here; On to my dilemma:
    I have (the last time I saw it :P) what I would consider dark blonde, level 6 hair naturally. As I think is often with that shade, it actually was some type of mix, with over the years lighter hair on top and in front from the sun, those natural highlights. Before I knew what I was doing, I used box dye in attempt to get a level 9 or so. Well this kind of worked... on the light areas, however in the back and underneath, I got brassy yuk. Now I understand why, to go 3-4 levels I would need a 40 level developer. So, I have now moved up to the better way of buying products at a beauty supply store.
    Basically I want to start from scratch to I can do things properly. 1. If I buy a color remover, and do that, will my hair be considered "virgen" now and I can start from scratch? My hair is very short now ( I chopped off most to get ride of bad color). or must I use bleach to strip off old color. Bleach makes me nervous. I do not want to be platinum or fry my hair cause I don't have much left :). How does that work with bleach then, do I bleach first then color after that in a second step (apply the blond shade I want? What I don't like about the bleach idea, is that when I have seen blondes who have used bleach, the color is very flat, because everything stripped takes away the natural highlights. Right now, I like how the color touches the different shades in my natural hair, keeping a natural look, just light (except for the underneath and the back... which are leaning to ugly brass.
    Any input greatly appreciated. I really trust you Sylvia, there are a lot of sites that offer advice... but I'm not sure about it.

    Elle, I'm curious how you received a match from ESalon. I have the same natural color as you - except that my hair has a more reddish tone. ESalon was not able to help me because the strongest developer they will send is a 20 volume. I appreciate ESalon's honesty and customer service. I guess I have to stick to the salon....

    Disappointed after checking the website. They didn't provide any option for toning up the hair, for instance brown to blonde. Simply changing the color without lightening the hair was not what I looked for. I assume that was probably why the website sent you 15 volume.

It also was not stated what company's products go into those bottles or whether they manufacture it themselves. I wouldn't trust it.

    I used a 4N from Sally today with a 20 developer to cover my gray roots and the results are fantastic, a perfect match thank god. But I have heard Sally color is not recommended, why is that? It did burn my skin a little mostly around my neck could that just be the alcohol? It cost $7 to do my hair today vs. $80-$90 at the salon. Do you give Wella color at Sally a thumbs up? Thank you Oh yeah, what is your lipstick you have on? I love it.
