I love the IQ at 2:40, sees kemba on Ibaka and instantly goes 'well hes got no chance....' runs over and pretty much says 'kemba, dont worry about him, go and get the short guy'
"Marcus Smart things" are called that cuz no one else can/will do them. He could be the difference maker for an entire quarter without scoring. It's incredible. So many of these players are really good, and you see them look at the refs after a terrible shot(if they even get a shot off). What's better, seeing a "Marcus Smart play" or seeing the "Tomasz Kordylewski just uploaded a video" notification? Both are the best at what they do and are helping during the quarantine life.
Just one of many reasons he will remain my favorite Celtic on the current roster until he leaves or retires and i hope he can stay his all career here. Thank you Tomasz you make the stop far easier to take good Sir :)
When are teams going to realize that posting up a big guy against smart is not necessarily a mismatch? He's been doing this since he came into the league.
That defense at 1:45 was BEAUTIFUL. The fact he hasn't been considered for DPOY in these last few years is beyond me. He can guard damn near every position at a very high level and he's a PG.
The reason bigger players win DPOY is because they are responsible for both cross paint passing lanes , help/transition D usually in the corners or off-help, being mismatched against shooters on perimeter and defending attacks to the hoop or interior scoring . If you are good and you are a guard you usually have to guard just the person in front of you. You dont have to guard in the interior or protect passing lanes or transition from inside to the perimeter That being said. It makes the case even greater for Smart because he doesnt just guard bigger players but he will position himself like a center in the interior. Many occasions he will switch not knowing who will come into the interior but assuming he will have to defend a big. He is a pure elite defender. He can defend multiple positions and he uses his lack of height or size to his advantage by changing his physicality depending on the play or the aggressiveness of his opponent. He will move lesser defenders away from bad assignments. Preventing easy scores or bad fouls. Lot of these plays dont make the boxscore and seldom can complex algorithms define these actions in any positive way. But just by watching him and how he handles even elite players; you realize just how stifling he is and how hard it is to score on him DPOY hopefully he steals it this season if the regular season is done.
Loved this video there’s nothing better than watching Smart play defense. Could we maybe get a career compilation of Smart vs Harden offense and defense? He always locks him up but yet no one talks about it.
The NBA is a joke that they will say someone like giannis with a massive stride and lengthy wingspan can guard 1-5 and its worthy of a DPOY, but Smart can guard 1-5 as a guard at a huge disadvantage and he makes all NBA first team but it's a struggle.
Porzingis must have nightmares about playing the Celtics. On the offensive end he gets humiliated time and time again by Smart and on the other end he gets dunked on by Brown... Some players you remember always having great games against your team (for the Celtics for instance Booker, Hield and Jokic), but Porzingis is most definitely not one of them. If you'd only be watching Porzingis against the Celtics you'd be wondering how this guy is still even in the league LOL.
It doesn't get any better than this. Smarf is hands down the BEST post defender guard in the league. Not even a mile close.
Oh hands down, post defense in guards is hard to find especially one as short as smart

he does the same at 1:22 with kemba on leonard
Lian Ampuero yeah he tells kemba to get on Beverley and then forces a brick on kawhi

Bro i was on a run of your videos. And you suddenly posted my favorite celtics players defensive highlights. I hope you have a long great life ;)
putting the clamps on these lil boys.

I love watchinh Doncic being guarded by Smart and Porzingis switch defenders for a mismatch just for Marcus to clamp Porzingis

Marcus Smart is the only point guard where he can be posted up by a big, and I’ll still be like: “It’s ok. He’s got this.”
Great work with the audio. Hate it when they cut out the commentaries mid sentence!
I personally find this much more enjoyable to watch than a compilation of tatum/kemba/brown threes and layups

He is the only player to consistently gove Kawhi and Giannis trouble
Crazy how Smart in the post is not a mismatch. DPOY definitely

I see only facts
Damn that's really great content! How about Theis sealing defenders off for the easy bucket?
soon!
2k need to see this bc they always give smart like 70 strength and 50 post d
his post d needs to be higher cuz Patrick Beverly has a 70 :|
Larry Da lobster lmao huhhhh
Thanks tomasz. Can you do Tatum's defense. I think he is an underrated defender
already did: th-cam.com/video/jTsupXo7svE/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!!! 😭🙏
We need a Jaylen Brown career dunk mix
Going back to this since people seem to be clowning Smart for saying he's been guarding bigs.
I thought TH-cam didn’t allow porn to be posted
