Interesting bag, it certainly has some quirky details like the canvas and and rolled edges in most areas but not all. Do you have any experience with the weatherproof duffel? wondering if it is the same thickness of leather.

Cool review! I’ve been using the twill version as my daily bag since 2014. It’s just the sweet spot in terms of size for daily items. I have since bought larger or more upscale bags but keep coming back to the filson for it’s size and looks. This leather version is cool. I would worry about the edges of the outside pockets rolling over with time. Some leather piping would help it out a lot, also in terms of looks.
I think the reason for the canvas strap connections might be comfort. The bag is already made of so much leather. Another layer of leather might have made the bag not sitting flush to your body when carrying ? Just my guess. I'm loving my twill version.
