I want to correct a thing....if the electron donating groups are present then oxidation occur and if ewg then reduction coz it mainly depends on the ease of hydride donor...amd not the ease of necleuphile to attack. So the things you have shown i.e in case if edg and ewg groups are attached...they will be opposite.
