When I was a teen in the 90s learning to play guitar I would watch Austin city limits every Friday night , this performance was my introduction to Kenny and I've been a fan since
Saw him shortly after ledbetter Heights was released. I was in SF visiting friends and saw he was going to be at the Fillmore. Didn't know anything about him, read a bio about him and his knowing srv and stevies influence on him. I thought just another srv wanna be....boy was I wrong. As the show went on I was impressed with his ability, he had soul, passion, finesse. The whole band was solid. I think he was only 16/17 when LBH came out. Been a fan ever since. Would of loved to see him and stevie. That would've been something.
I was at that show too!! The Bottle Rockets opened. I got one of the cool black light posters at the entrance. I was only 16 too born in 81’. My dad took me. What a cool comment to read and remind me.

Alright Kenny you are the best there ever was I’ve listened two them all baby just keep it up can’t no one get close and playing that old southern rock keep it up baby pull um. Goat
Him and Kenny were in Shreveport, Kenny's hometown, this past weekend. He brought the old band back together for a single concert in his hometown this past Saturday, for all of us who have supported Kenny since he was an unknown guitar player playing bars and clubs here. It was IN. FREAKIN. CREDIBLE. We got 2 concerts. One from his Trouble Is album and another from all of his newer stuff. 3 hours. It was INCREDIBLE. Obviously he didn't bring this singer. It was him & Noah, the best co-frontmen of any band on the planet. They put on a phenomenal show for the hometown crowd. Kenny was in Guitar God mode Saturday night. That's for sure. God I'm glad I was there. It was UNFORGETTABLE. They had a different bass player, though. I forget his name. He's a badazz though. And Kenny still plays this guitar just as hard as ever. Wood chips all over the stage! 🤣
Thank you for posting the whole video. I remember seeing this on PBS back in 96., by far one of greatest performances ever!! This was life changing for me back then.
Hiya! I’m big KWS fan too! I’m seeing him on Feb 5th, can’t wait! You’ve seen Stevie’s ACL show? If not just search for full concert at ACL, he was just amazing! An absolutely seamless guitar switch on Little Sister when a string broke and played his solo without it then swapped guitars while playing and didn’t miss a beat! God, I still miss him so much 😔
I’m going to see him again June 8th in Augusta! Got my friend from NC coming down to visit and go with me! I have no problem going by myself like I did in February but it’s going to be fun because she doesn’t really know his music! I love turning people on to his music 🎵🎸🎶
I saw this band play this weekend. Same drummer. Different bass player. Same guy on keys. Same rhythm guitarist. Kenny put on one hell of a show in his hometown of Shreveport, LA on Saturday Feb 12, 2022. He brought the old band back together for the very first show of his "25th anniversary of Trouble Is..." TOUR. For us in z Shreveport. His and our hometown. It was the most incredible concert I've ever been to.
@@danzgodava I love that 1st Indigenous album! Saw them on Late-night w/Conan Obrien when it came out! Mato cut his hand playing the solo and I was hooked! Gotta pull that cd out now... ☺️🇨🇦🥞
@@randyyoumans9567 Sadly Chris Aaron died of a heart attack in 2014 at age 44. Corey Sterling is back in Toronto Canada. Corey had a drug problem - his son said his voice is gone from the abuse. Hope things have changed for the better Corey. Your vocals were legendary.
You can debate all day about whether or not Kenny is a SRV clone. If that's how you choose to see him, you're wrong, but that's your business! All I know is that 17 year old me saw Kenny & Eric Johnson on Austin City Limits, caught the Blues Bug, & have never recovered. This episode of Austin City Limits, along with seeing the videos for Metallica's "The Memory Remains," & Marilyn Manson's "Long Hard Road Outta Hell" back to back made me have to learn to play guitar & bass. I had no more choice about that decision than I had about taking my next breathe. That's the power of music. A couple seemingly insignificant events can set the course of the rest of your life.
Sterling was an amazing singer. Wish he could have kept it together back then no telling how good KWS Band would be today. Noah is a great replacement but there should have never been one.
I can't keep up with all the amazing guitar talent in the world. But I try to rate them when chopping up guitar talk. I used to think, hmmm, what will I say when KWShephard topic comes up. Before seeing this video I would say, "He's like an SRV but not as polished." Again. That was BEFORE I saw this video.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is like a poor man’s Stevie Ray Vaughan. It’s like buying a pair of knock off designer sunglasses or wearing a fake Rolex. I understand not everyone can buy a Rolex but anyone can buy a cd or download music so why listen to KWS when you can listen to SRV?

Pure Fender sound, it doesn't get any better, SRV changed my life and Kenny keeps it going

Respectfully disagree. I like Corey's voice but Noah and his voice has helped Kenny evolve.
Noah is awesome.

Have to disagree with you on that one. Noah can sing the lights out
I am as big of fan of Noah as of KWS
Ladys & Gentlemen, young Scott Ian on vocals!!
