Attaining perfection and flexibility can be really difficult if one starts learning classical dance forms late. Especially dance forms like Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam. The difference can be clearly seen between the perfomances of dancers who started early and who started late. Atleast in most of the cases it is so. But its true that one can learn dance at any age. Sorry if I am wrong.
I am 24..i had no previous training of any dancing skills....my father didn't like it dancing at all... But this year i have got tuitions of some local children.. and from this salary i have joined a dance class... Am happy...am veryyy very... Thank you so much ma'am for this inspiration ❣️we love you
I was 25 when I started learning Kathak. After an year I had to stop as I got my whole body paralysed due to GBS. Recovery was too slow. Again started learning at the age of 40. There came 2 year gap due to COVID. At 43 started again. I have problems of forgetting things, knee pain due to arthritis, Difficulty in taking chakkars. Little bit of physical deformity due to GBS. Still I won't stop. I will dance. Will try to learn more. Now using 50 guru ghungroos. Will get 100 ones soon. I have a Teacher near my house. My family and my Teacher supports me.
I started learning with my daughter at age 40. I had done couple yrs training in my school days but could not pursue more. However, the outlook of many teachers are so negative. When I was 35, I went to few teachers in Mumbai and they refused to accept me. I went to Bharati Vidya Bhavan near Choppati in Mumbai. The teachers their thought I am going to bring my daughter. But when I told them that it is me who wants to learn, they insulted me with bed jokes on me and started laughing. The point here to tell this story is to let many people know that it us never too late to start learning. Age May takes little more time but it can be done. Hope all reading this gets the message to accept the student to learn dance at any age provided they are physically fits. I
I started learning at 28.....after one year course I left....now I m 35 and I learn by myself through utube.....I have learned fast chakkars by myself.....and mastered chougun taatkaar which previously I was unable to do....I m happy....and I don't believe in age limit....it's just a number
I started learning Kathak at the age of 47. I have completed Madhyama purna. I have to appear for Visharad 1. There is no age limit if the passion for learning is strong enough to beat the odds, I think.
I am a Kathak Guru. I have a special ladies batch. Their age ranges from 30 to 55 years. Next year they would be appearing for Madhyama Pratham. And I must say I enjoy teaching them as they are all very enthusiastic learners ❤👍
Thankyou so much mam . Because of you i am able to learn and understand kathak deeply ... 💞 I'll definitely be a professional kathak dancer one day just like you.
