when i heard a commentator say “the panthers have beat the bruins to face the leafs in the second round”, i realized hearing that sentence a month ago would’ve sent a few of us into a coma lol. i was in genuine shock when the leafs moved on, even tho i felt this would be their year, but the shock i felt when BOSTON lost in the first round was on another level… these playoffs so far have been so incredibly unpredictable especially now with the defending cup champs out to a team who’s never played in the playoffs. i’m really excited to see what happens from here
I would not be surprised if the leafs won another round or even made it to the cup. They have 5 core players as good as any team left in the playoffs, plus decent goaltending.
I guess, I was one of the few people not surprised by this... teams that win more than 60 games do not do well in the playoffs. Tampa was swept in the first round by Columbus Detroit lost 4-2 to Colorado in the Conference Finals
Diehard Leafs fan here... may the best team win next round we shall see you guys shortly! I've been making the joke that we are just exchanging one Florida team for another, Leafs tryna take down the entire state of Florida😆
TBH I think its way worse losing a series with a 3-1 comeback, than a 4-0 sweep, because if you're up 3-1 you'd definitely feel you can take the series with one more win. And if your'e being swept you'd already. at some point you'd accepted more defeat as the series goes on. One is pure embarrassment and the other is a series of total defeat throughout.
So what should these players do should they sll kill themselves because they lost a game of hockey ffs its sports upsets happen. In reality last years president cup winners beat this year's. Get over it
if bruins lost 4-0 it would have been even worse. that would have made question the entire performance of the team and possibly led to big, even random seeming changes. now theyre atleast able to analyze what went wrong. but yea the other is more embarassing while the other is more painful. like comparing giving birth to kick in the balls.
@@Balmain_jacket playing away, against the best regular season team ever, being down with a minute left, and then winning? In a series where they were down 3-1? That’s a comeback
both of my brackets busted, but I'm so happy at this result. There's no greater joy than watching a team like Boston somehow go from being very likely to win in 4, to potentially being able to win 5, to somehow it being the 6th game, and to finally lose it in the 7th game. These are the types of things that really fuel me and make me happy to be a hockey fan
I don’t think the Bruins were ever “very likely to win in 4,” the Panthers were close to the worst matchup they could’ve gotten, were red hot coming into the playoffs, and split the 4 games against the Bruins in the regular season while still missing key players they had back for the playoffs. I didn’t think the Panthers would win, but in my bracket I did have the series going 7 games.
I literally could go 2 and 6 if Colorado and New Jersey lose. And the only two series that I got right: The Oilers, the team that I cheer for, and the Leafs, the team that I actively cheer against and would have gladly been wrong about them advancing 😕
I would be a bigger Panthers fan if they would have kept their original logo. IMO they went from the best logo in the league to the worst. So disappointed.
He is weeping because he knew the series was rigged the moment when Panthers won game 5.. Bettman also had something to do with this, he helped Florida make it all the way. We are the real winners of the Stanley cup. We deserve it, we worked the absolute hardest. When Bettman is gone, hockey will be more fair, as I said we were undoubtedly robbed in this series. Hockey isn't the same as it used to be.
@@BruinsFan69 It ain't bettman's fault yall lost a lead with 1 minute left and then had terrible coverage in OT 😂 I'll even ignore the last 2 games you threw.
Feels good to be a Panther Fan today. We had a rough start to the season with injuries and learning a new coaches system, but we're peaking at the right time now.
I'm a Habs fan cheering for the Leafs but Florida has been very fun to watch. Congrats on the historic comeback, good luck next round, very impressive team you've got right now. Also thanks for sticking it to Boston, every hockey fan in the world owes you one for that
As a Leafs fan, I have no words. Boston was not supposed to lose. Not in this round and not in this way. The playoffs are scary because anything can happen and it just did. Toronto has been on the losing end enough times to become numb to it so all I'll say to Boston fans is life goes on and see you next season. And congrats to Florida. See you soon in Toronto.
Look buddy you better bring it harder than that or if not, don't go to the games! Toronto might not know how to get to the Stanley Cup but we know every dead end there is! As long as it feels weird it must be the right path!
I would normally say that I absolutley despise toronto, but for once in my life I want yall to win a series. please ruin Florida. they are an absolute pest of a franchise.
I grew up watching our Bourque led B's fall short every year until he was traded to Colorado. I watched Grogan and Eason rarely lift the Pats out of early draft picks before Drew came to town. Losing is very familiar around here. That's why ownership for both teams want to compete annually. But if Krejci & Bergeron both retire, we're going directly from Prez Cup to rebuild.
Being up 3-1 and leading in game 7 with a minute left and then losing in OT is by far the worst feeling in the world. This one will hurt for a long time. 😕
@@SirManflyyeah they absolutely blew it. They it in game 5 too. The fact that the Panthers went on to basically sweep their way to the Stanley Cup finals (8-1) shows that the Bruins really would’ve made it rather easily to the Stanley Cup finals but I think they ultimately would’ve lost to Vegas in 6 games. Vegas wasn’t going to be stopped last year.
@@demolitionbmxd The Panthers had nothing to loose as the second wild card team. Boston had everything to loose. The President's Trophy puts a lot, maybe too much, presure on the specific team. Hence there have only been eight times when the President's Trophy winner also won the cup.
@@Frazsier-lx1gr yeah agree for the most part. Although with it possibly being Bergeron's last season and maybe Krecji too I think the B's still had a lot to lose in that sense. I hope we keep largely the same team for next season and build on this loss to come back with more fire in next years playoffs
I cannot imagine how it must feel to be a Boston fan right now. On that note at least your team was in the playoffs. Mine got an early start on the golf course.
I'm a Leafs fan so I know. I won't pile on them now after this devastating loss, but you can be sure I'll use it for future trash talk fodder. Thanks Florida.
See boston players on the golf course this summer, probably arguing about whos fault it was for losing. Brad sure looked pissed on the bench at one point in the game , took his helmet off and bounced it off the floor, i thought that's not good for Boston , guys frustrated , which will take him off his game and it did.
Florida had to win 4 games. This was not a fluke or bad luck. Another thing that people should remember was that the Florida Panthers was 1st overall in the previous season 21-22 with 122 points.
Just an insane series. Credit to Florida for always finding that fight whenever they got down. As a Bruins fan, it felt like every puck refused to bounce our way, but c’est la vie. Brutal loss and series, but congrats to Florida.
You put that perfectly. Down to the near empty netter at the end of this game that had a chance to go in without anyone really even shooting it down there.
@@fleatactical7390 honestly if you ask people from another team who come to the Garden they never have a bad experience. People love to hate a franchise for no reason. I just love hockey. Another B's fan here.. At the end of the day my silver lining is the Leafs got through to round 2 (so stoked for them and their fans) and the Kraken made it through as well. Both great stories for them. I think this Bruins team can cone back much like Tampa after their first round sweep. It was Monty's first season as a head coach and no-one had us set to even make the playoffs at the start of the season, I think we played well and have lessons to learn.
As a Bruins fan i’m devastated and heartbroken but moments like this are why we watch hockey. I’m happy for Florida and their fans as they’ve experienced enough heartbreak, but this is a tough one to go through.
I'm from Miami, live near Tampa now, I've always rooted for the lightning except when they play the panthers, but I used to go to so many games when we were bad, it's awesome to be in the playoffs pretty much every year now, but it's time to go win a cup for once! I think we're alot better prepared this year than we were last year, even tho we were the 1 seed and best record last year . Crazy to think but with Maurice as our coach, he's really brought a different style that's more conducive to playoff hockey, thanks for the support!

As a bruins fan when they lost game 6 I knew they were loosing, also I feel so bad for Bergeron his last season (a nhl record regular season) ends in a round 1 loss. I think a key thing of game 7 was that they tried to play to defend the lead but you can’t hold onto a 1 goal lead for 20 min in a game 7 playoff series, they shouldn’t of took the foot off the pedal and kept offensive pressure. But that’s just my 2 cents.
Bruins fan here. Absolute heartbreaker, but not unexpected, as it shouldn't have been to anyone that watched any of the last few games. The Panthers were who I worried going up against most for the first round, and rightfully so. Gonna miss our captain, I feel bad for him to go out like this. Going forward, gonna root for the Leafs, and Seattle for Western. Always sad when you're team is out, but playoff hockey is exciting to watch, no matter who you're going for.
Panthers fan here I felt the negative energy from the Boston fans after game 5 and was really trying to cheer up Boston fans in so many comments sections. I am truly sorry for your loss. So much respect for you, your team, and coaching staff.
Just WOW! This is seriously the most exciting playoffs I can remember! Boston going down to the 2nd wild card Panthers is downright mind blowing! Seattle beating Colorado in 7, Toronto winning a series against the 3 time Final attendees Lightening, Carolina able to close the series out earlier than most teams but being down pretty much an entire side of wingers, and there's no telling what's gonna happen between New York and Jersey. I'm rooting for the Hurricanes all the way but I'd be happy to see Florida or Toronto go the distance this year.
You forgot the Western Conference #1 seed Vegas making it to the 2nd round first with a 4 - 1 series win over a Winnipeg team that damn near literally didn't even show up for game 5
For Boston Bruins fans, It's time to get a little upset and pissed off at their team for being the #1 seed and losing in the 1st round after a record breaking regular season. In 1991 & 1992 the Pittsburgh Penguins won 2 Stanley Cups, they were the heavy favourites and got bounced out of the 1993 NHL Playoffs by the New York Islanders. This might be even worse than that. This is unbelievable! I'm shocked, just like everybody else is.
The crazies fact is the the Kraken are only the 2nd team ever to score first in all 7 games of a series. Who was the only other team - yep, the Maple Leafs in 2004, the last time they got out of the first round.
If you look at all the teams remaining in the playoffs (pending the winner of the Devils/Rangers series), a team who haven't won the Cup for a long time (in the case of Florida, Vegas, Seattle, never) will get to hoist it once again. The last champion was the Devils (in 2000 i believe) while the Rangers was back in 1993. To quote Draymond Green: "Fun times ahead," 😂
Please don't talk to me til October. I am absolutely heartbroken. Not just because the Bruins lost but because it might have been Bergerons last game. He is an NHL class act icon. Regardless of what team you're on, Bergeron personified what Hockey is. I don't wanna see him go man. 😢💛🐻
I’m a Tampa fan…. I can relate. This one is going to sting for a bit Bean town. The best thing you can hope for is a rematch next playoffs and send them packing. That’s how we did it, but I won’t lie, it’s going to be a long year getting there…
But we weren’t at our team’s peak yet, and we responded with back-to-back Cups as well as a Finals appearance. Unfortunately for the Bruins, they’re probably going to be weaker. I honestly think this is worse than the 2019 Lightning. Choking in this fashion sounds way more gruesome (at least to me) than getting swept xD
Fellow Lightning Fan.... I felt this wasn't our year, but thought possibly Toronto would find a way to lose. They still will I think. Great regular season for Boston.... but it is going to hurt watching that "participation trophy" flag go up in the rafters next season... believe me.. we know the feeling. OMG I have to cheer for the PANTHERS?????
That’s essentially the world leafs fans have been in for so long. We dropped the ball nearly 20 years ago…. Now we’re back. Best of luck, Boston…. Could be a while until they get any redemption lol
The rest of the league wants to thank the Panthers! Now we don't have to listen to moronic Bruins fans running their mouths for the rest of the playoffs.
as a bruins fan, i mean, once it got to 3-1 in the series, florida stepped up to the plate. bruins seemed to just fall apart all the way up to the third period in game 7. i'm super sad but unfortunately not terribly surprised! congratulations to you guys... though of course i wish it was us! 😂😭
@@lilscho no..Boston absolutely dominated game 5. Should have been over there. After game 5 Florida stepped up but even so Boston was up in game 6 and 7 aswell. Biggest choke job ever, fuck the bruins. No longer a fan.
The Avs making it to the playoffs with that many injuries is pretty impressive. I'm an Avs fan and, while I would be disappointed, it would be good for them to get bounced. They won't make it through the second round with as many players as they are missing.
There's more: the Kings, Lightning, Wild, Islanders, and Rangers were also all eliminated at home. The only team that wasn't eliminated on home ice in the first round was the Jets!
As a Canucks fan I love that the Islanders and Horvat were knocked out(after those comments he made), and I couldnt be happier seeing Boston getting eliminated with all their fans faces in disbelief...it was pretty much the perfect outcome.
Or Jim Montgomery playing him instead of Swayman, who was also great all year, despite him clearly being injured. The Bruins then got mediocre injured Ullmark play until game 7 when he sent Swayman in cold. If the Bruins had put in Swayman before game 7 they prob would’ve won the series.
@@RobotReg haha yeah but bruins fans were already taking this cup as a given. There isn’t another fan base this year that deserved to be humbled this hard.
@@owenskalvalki3057 I agree , arrogant , boasting about how good they were and the cup was coming home, i kept telling them the regular season is the opposite of playoff hockey, and they could of rested their top lines the last month of the regular season , they already were going to the playoffs but they didn't . I won my cup this year , watching the Bruins go down and their fans , looking stunned , some hanging their heads, Marchand crying in his buddies arms.
@@RobotReg It's the expectations being dashed that is beautiful. The Bruins were expected to steamroll the Panthers. Look at the amazing regular season they had. It was inevitable, until it happened. Hopes of a Stanley Cup finals appearance and probable victory were dashed in the first round. Bruins fan's tears are sustaining me now.
Congrats to the panthers for signing Charlie Mcavoy for this game 7 match! He was a great pickup for them and was consistently passing it right to their tape all game! What a great performance by him tonight!
So before anyone says they choked, lets review for the series: Boston +/- was NEG 28 Florida was PLUS 66. Florida had as much of a hand in WINNING that series as Boston did in losing it. Winning game 4 is always the hardest one. Marchand could have salted it away in 5, but HE is the chock artist and I love that its him having a nightmare of simply elevating that puck 6 more inches to win with 0.01 on the clock because that's Bob's weak side. Then Tkachuk stuffing it in OT to win, simply is icing on the cake. Florida won it as much as Boston blew. You can have both and Coyle was misused once Bergeron came back. Terrible coaching as well. Maurice schooled the Boston coaches all series. He's the big reason we're moving on.
I’m not a fan of either team so I’m at least somewhat unbiased. I don’t see it as a choke either. Gotta give the Panthers plenty of props for the win. Calling it a choke disrespects their efforts.
It's amazing that all you hear is that the Bruins choked, I haven't seen too many people giving the Panthers any credit for playing better than Boston. What an unbelievable effort from Florida their backs we're against the wall and they prevailed. Good luck the rest of the way boys.👍🏒🐆
Realistically, when you never face adversity in the regular season you have no idea how to handle it in the playoffs. The Bruins cruised in as much as a team possibly could, they never had to learn how to adjust so they couldn't when they really needed to.
The Panthers were similar last year. They were a juggernaut in the regular season only to exit early. They did win one series but after 122 points they just crapped out. Not a hockey expert, but it seems pretty clear that regular season and playoff hockey are almost two different sports.
This is the most insane first round I've ever seen. Both teams that made it to the Final last year are out. One lost to the team that's notorious for first round exits and the other lost to a team in that's only in its second season. And the Bruins somehow managed to pull a stunt that's at least on par with the 2019 Lightning, if not worse. Gotta love it.
same. was a Habs fan at the time... Mtl had gotten knocked out by Boston in OT in Game 7 that year. had been watching all Vancouver playoff games for a couple years by that point, and it was super painful to see Vancouver lose to the Bruins of all teams in the finals.
Way to go Montour. Guys from my hometown. I've met his dad at a tire shop I use to work at when he was drafted to the Gulls. It's amazing to see how this guy's career has gone since.
Just watched my hometown Kraken upset the Avalanche and send them home in game 7. Also remember the 2001 Mariners, who won the most games in the history of MLB (116, tied with the 06 Cubs) and then lost in the first round of the playoffs without even winning a home playoff game. The M's didn't return to the playoffs for another 20 years, with last years team finally breaking the string. You just never know when it comes to playoffs - that goes for hockey, baseball, football, anything. It's all a crapshoot when the postseason comes around.
As an Avs fan I have to say Seattle winning was an upset but not a big upset. Seattle has a deep roster and I believe they were the #1 5 on 5 team in the entire league this year. They are no joke and the avs roster ended up being a skeleton of what it used to be.
Been watching hockey for many years and the playoff’s are always a different beast. We watch Montreal last place go all the way to finals. It happens a lot so no surprises But never the less the most important part is it was great hockey. Loved it. And that’s what it really about for all fans and it promotes the game.
No matter who your team is,the level of playoff hockey is just so far above regular season play. I love hockey & I been watching since there was but 6 teams.
Well, we're living in the loopiest and most interesting world now. And that goal to tie it with a minute left was basically what I feel knocked the wind out of Boston. Like Freese's HR to walk off game 6 of the 2011 world series
The craziest thing about it to me is Boston controlled the puck nearly the entire 3rd Period. It felt like we went 10 minutes without seeing a single shot on goal. And then they tie it with 1 minute left and controlled the puck nearly all of OT
Boston was really good at killing almost any chance from Florida. Too bad they somehow forgot how to pass once they got the puck. They probably had more turnovers than shots on goal in the last 20 minutes of the game, including OT
All Bruins fans saw it coming. Once we went up 3-1 in the series it was turnover after turnover and the defense just stopped. Ullmark had rough nights and it was a entire mess.
As a Bruins fan, I did expect them to go on a deep run, but I also equally expected them to choke, so I'm not very surprised. I was a bit confused with how much everyone's been hyping them up, historically they choke. I guess this year seemed different, but they're still the Bruins. Now that they're gone, I'd like to see Toronto win because I'm really proud of them for getting to the second round, but it would also be cool to see the Oilers win. I'm young so I'm sure in my adult life I'll get to see a Bruins Stanley cup, hopefully with Pastrnak.
If I were him, I wouldn’t want to come back. He’ll retire, but probably end up as a member of the organization anyway. They’ll need a new HC soon hopefully.
Panthers are my 2nd team. Canes my 1st. I'm not a Tkachuk fan, but he dragged this team to victory like a mom drags her kid to church. Glad Duclaire is back so hopefully they can keep the momentum up. We've seen Florida have wild comebacks in games with seconds on the clock. That was the whole 2021-2022 season. I knew they would score and tie it up. I didn't expect the OT winner
They did it to Boston during the regular season, so I think the team remembered that. It's one reason I put the Panthers winning this series on my bracket. They knew they could beat the Bruins because they'd already done it twice before the series even started. Probably the only team in the playoffs who could say that about Boston.
As a leafs fan, I’m just happy we’re not the ones being laughed at this year. Edit: even if Florida sweeps them this round, nothing compares to what just happened in Boston.
Well, the law of averages says eventually the Leaves wouldn't be the laughingstocks of the playoffs. It just so happens that it's this year. They haven't won anything yet. If the Panthers beat them, you can bet there will be a lot, a lot, of laughter.
@@raymeus As a bruins fan, I personally hope that the leafs beat the panthers and go to the cup final Only to choke it in spectacular fashion and continue the meme

Vegas fan here. I literally told someone about a month or so ago that the Cup was the Bruins to lose. They had arguably the best record in the NHL, they looked amazingly powerful, and it was if you could just tell everybody else to go home and just hand the Cup over to them. Believe me, the shock of them losing extends to more than just Boston. But then again, they won the Presidents trophy, which from what I understand, is a guaranteed short stay in the playoffs.
The Presidents' Trophy has been around for 37 seasons now (1985-86 was the first). In that time the winners have: - won the Stanley Cup 8 times (21.6%) - lost in the Cup finals 3 times (8.1%) - lost the conference final 6 times (16.2%) - lost the division final / conference semifinal 12 times (32.4%) - lost the first round 8 times (21.6%) If we assign one point for every round of the playoffs won (so 0 for losing the first round, a total of 4 for winning the Cup), the Presidents' Trophy winner averages 1.76 points.
@@spacetoast7783 Just under 1. 8 teams get a point for winning the first round, 4 teams get another point for the second round, 2 teams get another for winning their conference, and 1 gets another for winning the Cup. 8 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 15, divided by the 16 teams that made the playoffs gives an average of 0.9375. Or to think of it another way: 8 teams walk away with 0 points after losing the first round, 4 teams walk away with 1 after losing the second round, 2 teams walk away with 2 after losing their conference final, one team walks away with 3 and their conference trophy, and one team gets 4 and the Cup. 8 x 0 + 4 x 1 + 2 x 2 + 3 + 4 = 15.
I was not shocked they could not close it out even in game six . They blew their load in the regular season and when it went over time I was even more sure they had zero chance of winning they could never stop Florida when they had to . I don't know how anyone did not see that coming .

For me one part of this is the refs. As much as some hockey fans dislike them they are no where near to the detestable, horrible, homering refs of the NBA. In the NBA the refs are always supporting the home team and making themselves a spectacle with their over dramatized foul calls. In hockey the refs don't do this crap and so the road team has a decent chance even in the playoffs.
Because nobody in no other sport wants to win the trophy so bad and nobody else has to battle that hard to win it. Yes, I remember that 2010 series. To me, that playoff series was more of a choke for the Bruins than this series. The Panthers are vastly superior to that Flyers team.
Bruins die hard here, and man I gotta say I thought we were going all the way. This game (the last 3 really) was devastating but it proves no matter how good you are, you can still lose. Bruins weren’t as focused as the panthers, their D kept collapsing and following the puck, and the offense struggled in several games of the series to really get deep in the offensive zone. Panthers wanted it more. Hats off to them… the real painful part is that I have to root for Toronto to beat them now 😅

I know I’m not a fan of either team, but the leafs losing in round 1 was getting old for me. Matthews and Marner deserve to blossom. I also may be rooting for them cause of O’Reilly. Dudes a great player and did a lot for St.Louis on a personal level.
That series reminds me of the 2010 1st round match up between the Caps and the Habs. Caps were president trophy winner with 121 pts. Habs 8th seed in the east with 88 pts. Caps had a 3-1 series lead and lost the series.
We haven't been the "best team" in almost 10 years now. Crazy how quickly the last time u won was 10+ yrs ago. 2016 seems so long ago,2009 is like ancient times...1991 is finally starting to feel like FOREVER ago
They should of rested their top lines towards the end of the season , instead they played them to the end , stupid. What good was a good regular season ? It got them in the playoffs but other then that it was a waste of energy.
Bro, I swear this is the underdog Stanley Cup. You have the best regular season team in NHL history playing a wild card team the Panthers in the playoffs and losing, then you have the Stanley Cup winners from last year going out in the first round too against Seattle which is not a bad team but like who saw that coming, and before today the Leafs somehow made it out of the first round after 19 years of pain. All I can say is this is crazy hockey and so entertaining to watch. Comment under this who you think will actually get the cup this year cause I'm curious about what everyone else thinks.
If you look at stats, it's actually quite common that the president trophy winners usually never win the cup and quite often are out in the first or second round.

Some hockey reporter needs to cover Hampus Lindholm's performance in this game. He had trouble even standing on his skates, and later it appeared he was having some type of panic attack. It was an extremely puzzling performance from an elite pro athlete on his sport's biggest stage. He got a little better as the game went on but not by much.

McAvoy was brutal most of the game. It seemed like all the bruins defenders were skating in Molasses and the Florida forecheck was always on them quickly. Don’t know if they were hurt or tired. Personally I think Boston lost it’s grit and thought it could play pretty hockey and not bruins hockey… it’s always been “Bobby Orr and the big bad bruins”.
Agreed.

These are the types of things that really fuel me and make me happy to be a hockey fan
You should really stop gambling you won't ever become rich and winning a few hundred bucks never goes far.

Realistically, when you never face adversity in the regular season you have no idea how to handle it in the playoffs. The Bruins cruised in as much as a team possibly could, they never had to learn how to adjust so they couldn't when they really needed to.
Also if you look at regular season panthers beat bruins twice

Not a hockey expert, but it seems pretty clear that regular season and playoff hockey are almost two different sports.
yeah.. I think it's better just to keep the team healthy during the regular season (as long as they manage to get to the playoffs)
@@judasthepious1499 Home ice advantage is nice too
@@Shawn-st2lx doesn't really matter as much in the NHL teams always losing at home.

@@Shawn-st2lx I'm not denying that, just I don't see the scores reflecting much of an advantage lol.
Couldn't be more happier for Jack Edwards ❤ the man deserved this 😊

same. was a Habs fan at the time... Mtl had gotten knocked out by Boston in OT in Game 7 that year. had been watching all Vancouver playoff games for a couple years by that point, and it was super painful to see Vancouver lose to the Bruins of all teams in the finals.
I hope Bergeron retires after this, just to cripple their ratty team and fanbase
Im the person in the thumbnail, it is heartbreaking year after year we have all the potential, and yet we always blow it somehow.
As a red wings fan, thanks for the first rounder Boston!

Way to go Montour. Guys from my hometown. I've met his dad at a tire shop I use to work at when he was drafted to the Gulls. It's amazing to see how this guy's career has gone since.
He is an absolute gem of a player, it feels like a disservice to just call him a defenseman, he’s a great hockey player
Brantford, eh? I know there's another famous hockey player who calls Brantford his hometown - can't quite remember his name.
LOL
He's nasty, he's literally everywhere on the ice

Leafs curse has been finally passed on.
The Mariners weren't eliminated in the 1st round of the 2001 playoffs. They beat the Indians 3 games to 2.
Having the best stats meant more in the 90s.. Anything can happen with so many great overall players..
Why you have to bring that World Series up? I'm gonna go cry my sorrows again.
@@Swaggernaut_X "Freese hits it into the air to center! We will see you tomorrow night!"
The craziest thing about it to me is Boston controlled the puck nearly the entire 3rd Period. It felt like we went 10 minutes without seeing a single shot on goal. And then they tie it with 1 minute left and controlled the puck nearly all of OT
It’s all Ullmark’s fault this series
Boston was really good at killing almost any chance from Florida. Too bad they somehow forgot how to pass once they got the puck. They probably had more turnovers than shots on goal in the last 20 minutes of the game, including OT
Don’t forget the SJ Sharks winning the President’s Trophy only to get annihilated by Los Angeles in the first round. I’m still healing from that one!
It is definitely worse being up 3 to 1 in the series. And as a leafs fan I know lol
All Bruins fans saw it coming. Once we went up 3-1 in the series it was turnover after turnover and the defense just stopped. Ullmark had rough nights and it was a entire mess.
#3 on trending damn Eck you're killing it
Hearing jack edwards heart break cured my depression.
Right there with you bro. I'm also happy for the leafs, their fanbase needed that win.
This was so well put
Na dude no one expected us to choke this hard. Especially after being up 3-1 then being up 3-2 in game 7 with a minute left…
Lol you will never see a cup in Boston again, 30 yr fan here and im completely done with them...

So sad to see bergeron lose in what is probably his last season
Last season as a Ruins but not as a player.
He won a cup already so it's not so sad.

As a Bruins fan, memories of Game 7 against the Habs in 2011 are the only thing getting me through this difficult time :)
Yeah i'm a Färjestad BK fan and i predicted this 10 years ago
As a Canuck fan I couldn't be happier!
Bring your old jerseys back...so beautiful. And Hartford Whalers too.....my fav team ever
The Presidents' Trophy has been around for 37 seasons now (1985-86 was the first).
In that time the winners have:
- won the Stanley Cup 8 times (21.6%)
- lost in the Cup finals 3 times (8.1%)
- lost the conference final 6 times (16.2%)
- lost the division final / conference semifinal 12 times (32.4%)
- lost the first round 8 times (21.6%)
If we assign one point for every round of the playoffs won (so 0 for losing the first round, a total of 4 for winning the Cup), the Presidents' Trophy winner averages 1.76 points.
So the average playoff team gets 1 point.

That was a very deserved win for the Panthers.
This was way worse than Tampa’s
Upsets like this seem to happen in hockey more than any other sport!
Yes but didn't used to be that way. 8s over 1s were very rare before the salary cap
@@walexander8378 Before expansion it was normal for sub.500 teams to make the playoffs. Now you have to have a winning record.
Because nobody in no other sport wants to win the trophy so bad and nobody else has to battle that hard to win it.
Stanley Cup is the biggest trophy in all sports because it takes it all out of the winner.

If you’ve watched hockey long enough you know that Boston is kind of known for this. Same thing happened against Philadelphia in 2010 after being up 3 games to 0 and had a 3-0 lead in game 7.
You are absolutely right, and don't forget the big choke against the St. Louis Blues.
Hats off to them… the real painful part is that I have to root for Toronto to beat them now 😅
Presidents Trophy don’t mean sh**. Sabres won it and got their lunch eaten by the Sens in ‘07.
Not me I hope Florida wins the cup. Then you lose to the best

I know I’m not a fan of either team, but the leafs losing in round 1 was getting old for me. Matthews and Marner deserve to blossom. I also may be rooting for them cause of O’Reilly. Dudes a great player and did a lot for St.Louis on a personal level.

leafs are not beating the Panthers .
That series reminds me of the 2010 1st round match up between the Caps and the Habs. Caps were president trophy winner with 121 pts. Habs 8th seed in the east with 88 pts. Caps had a 3-1 series lead and lost the series.
Then they knocked out Pittsburgh too.

Game 6 as well!
@@michaelhannify4701 Perhaps the Bruins needed to do more research into Lindholm's mental makeup and not just the physical talents before they acquired him. Some guys rise to the occasion on those stages while others want to be anywhere else.
Agreed. McAvoy also had a horrific sequence in OT that nearly led to a FL goal. Choking all around.
We saw in game 4 a glimmer of what Big Bad Bruins hockey looks like… but then we went back to Pretty Bruins hockey and lost…
