The tracks seem to be in decent shape.

You really ought to try hiking the Vancouver Island Trail.

I've kinda done parts of it, in my own informal way, especially up in the Nimpkish Valley area of northern Vancouver Island.
I don't know if it's part of the Vancouver Island Trail, but I am intrigued by the old CNR railway route from Sooke area up to Cowichan Lake.
But I think what will happen with me is that I will find myself intrigued by the history or routing of something, and then I will research it and do some photo/video hikes.

Thanks Mike.....nice job doing the railway walk.....I wonder if that rail will ever be utilized again. Beautiful area with all of the water tributaries......

The good thing about railway corridors is that they can be patient and wait for economic or political trends to change, and have rail become necessary again.
Of course, structures would need to be upgraded, but the corridor path would be there for when it is needed.
So, I think it's not a question of if, but when. And the "when" might be a long term wait, but that's ok.

Hey thanks for showing this. From the video and photos, it looks doable using a mountain bike. I wouldn't want to be between the tracks for too much, but it looks like a smooth trail next to the tracks. What do you think?

Thanks Jonathan. There was a pretty good worn-in walking path, probably because of all the Goldstream campground people walking it.
I hardly walked between the rails, and that's rare for me. So thinking back, I think it is bikeable.

Thanks for your kind comment. I can't figure out why your comment doesn't show up in this view, so I couldn't reply to it. Much appreciated :)
