Regarding Maple Story: "The cash shop itself has kept itself relatively fair" Are you fucking kidding me? That is the biggest joke ever. I've played MapleStory since beta, I had many max leveled 200 characters before I quit (before the raised level cap) and I've spent thousands of dollars to get my gear as overpowered as they were. It's actually impossible to defeat many of the later bosses without help from the cash shop, and it's the later bosses that drop items that are worth enough money to buy decent gear. At the time that I had quit, I was doing well over 10x the damage of any other level 200 character without cash-shop improved gear. I stopped playing because I had to pay my own bills, and then I realised how much I'd been spending on MapleStory. Just on a single gear, you can upgrade it through the cash shop and get 36% stat boost to your main stat. You can't (realistically) do that without the cash shop, and multiply that by each piece of armor you wear + acccessories. Anybody who says the cash shop is relatively fair has clearly never played it. It hasn't been fair since they introduced non-cosmetic goods.
..... You can always defeat a boss, or another character, no matter what. Even if they are paying to play. You only have to believe in yourself. And hope their HPS isn't higher than your DPS.
nozo mashii without miracle cubed gear it's literally impossible to beat certain bosses such as empress, pink bean, their chaos forms, et cetera In fact, if you knew anything about the game you'd know that pink bean went undefeated in all global and kms servers until miracle cubes were introduced, because parties couldn't get a high enough dps output. Last I played, I was able to solo these bosses with miracle cubed gear on my db or phantom.
Aura Kingdom might top this list. It looks like an updated version of Eden Eternal. I agree with Mabinogi, it's actually the number 1 in my opinion. They add so much content it's hard to keep up so instead I think they should focus on polishing what they have the next couple of months.

Personally, after how long its been around, I would have rather seen Mabinogi on top. No matter what you can always leave a game and find another one similar but you literally cannot find anything even close to what Mabinogi gives, its one of the very very few games I can honestly say I feel is entirely original from the ground up.
I love love that you mentioned Mabinogi, I love that game so much, when I get a new desktop it will be the first game I reinstall. It is hands down the game where it's community helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. More people in Mabinogi are just in general very helpful people who care about other players in more than just their character/avatar role. Many times I've spent hours talking to people I've met on there and found solace in knowing that they actually care about the hard times I've been through rather than just being your typical WoW player who cares absolutely nothing about the life outside of the game that their friends are involved in. Mabinogi is more than just it's great community though, the combat is very anti level based. Meaning just because you are a higher level than someone does NOT mean that you would be able to beat a character with better skills. I've reincarnated myself as a level one character and whooped the crap out of a higher level character who hadn't worked on his skills as much as I did. There is also a lot of unique features such as being able to choose the AGE of your character and how your character being of a certain age affects aspects of your character's skills, as well as stats, speed, etc.

Jonathan Shinkle I feel happy for you then. :) But for me the game is too too boreing. I played it for like 5h in a two day period and as much as i tried to like it i just didn't. It looks old, it's slow in combat and the music isn't as great either. I can see how people can like it a lot, if they haven't played tons of mmo's like i have, but for me it's just the same old mmo with a more advanced skill tree, that's all.
ILikeChocolateBrah The music early on isn't that good but it getsto you eventually. It really shines in that aspect though once you get to later portions of the game and it's story. As for the graphics while outdated, the customability (original word so what) of your character can at the very least make things a bit more attractive though for it's time the graphics really aren't that bad. And on the contrary, to me Mabi's system and economy is one of the best I've seen in an MMO and I've had quite a gander at many. Some of which I can name being Tera, Grand Fantasia, Aura Kingdom, Runescape, Eden Eternal, Shaiya Online, Shin Megami Tensei Online, Cosmic Break, Elsword, and Fiesta. And there's a lot more where that came from, but those are some pretty notable ones.

As someone who played every game on this list, Eden eternal would be #1 3D mmorpg, but Latale would have to take #1 2D side scrolling mmorpg. Latale is unimaginably satisfying and has kept players around for 5+ years.
Mabinogi is soo much better than Maplestory! (before you think that I'm not giving Maplestory a chance, I actually played Maplestory for over a year before Ieven knew Mabinogi existed. But as soon as I started playing Mabinogi, I was hooked. I currently have both on my computer right now.)

Not to mention the combat systems for both are way different you can't loop basic combos in grand chase, elsword doesn't have mana regen stats on equipment, no grabs in elsword pvp either and you can't spam your 100 mp bar every 5 seconds through mana regen and freeze frames either. They're just way to different to even remotely call them the same game.

I played Eden Eternal last summer and lvling up was a pain in the ass. I was a Samurai and the skill animations looked the same. It was all grind, grind and grind. If you got no friends in there, you'll get stuck trying find a party for a dungeon run quest. I prefer DN over EE in every way.
Elsword is always going to be #1 for me, out of all of these other games. Yes, there are salty players in pvp, and some characters more stronger than others, but there are many positives to the game as well. I love how KOG is working on making dungeons more challenging and the winners match pvp is fun, too. You're able to choose your own character and see which one suits your playing style the best. You can play with parties in dungeons (and those party members can be your friends!), get married, and there are fun events, like where you can immediately level boost to lev. 70 and get your second job class immediately! Which brings me to the next thing i love about to this game. The classes are all unique and I like the fact that each character has a noble class, a dark path, and a.. well, basically a "Screw it, I'm not gonna be noble OR bad! I'm choosing my own path!" class. You can buy cool items to boost your stats and make your character look cooler, with the price of..(continued)

To get k-ching, you need to purchase it with money, HOWEVER, you can also join contests and stuff to get a chance at winning free k-ching, and you can also just do surveys to get it, too. I definitely recommend Elsword if you can handle the salty players you may encounter in pvp :) There are lots of friendly players in the game though!
I have questions. You say every character has a light path, a dark path and a flexible path. What's Elsword's Dark path? What's Rena's? How about Chung's? What's Add's Light path? What's Lu/Ciel's? Why is boosting immediately to lv70 fun? Getting to endgame without doing any work is a bad thing, especially when it's new players doing it. It just leads to incompetent endgame players. Even if you don't boost to 70, you can get there in a week if you want to. Where's the sense of accomplishment in reaching endgame levels that gives such a good feeling in other games? You farmed for a week. Congrats. You unlocked all our content in seven days. Woohoo. Also: If you want to be competitive at all in PvP you need an Ice Burner costume set. This is not optional at high levels. Skill gaps can mitigate it, but no one got to SSS being carried by their stats. You will not do well in high-rank PvP without an Ice Burner set. Those cost buckets of KC or even bigger buckets of ED to get. Yes, it's fun IF you have a chance AND you aren't fighting a salty player, but the lower ranks are oversaturated with those players and the high ranks require such expensive gear that it's just not worth it for free players. I know several SSS players IRL who quit the game because they hated how much they had to spend on keeping costumes and gear updated to be competitive. Don't get me wrong, Elsword is a good game. I like it quite a bit myself. That said, Eden Eternal is a GREAT game. That's why Elsword is 5 and Eden is 1. Try Eden. You will see quickly why it's so good. The class system is one-of-a-kind. Combat feels good. The social aspect is there. Also: Aura Kingdom. It was released after this list was made, but it was made by the same guys as Eden. They outdid themselves with Aura Kingdom.
+Loco Alright, sorry, need to take that class statement back then. I was thinking mostly about Elesis, since I play her the most. I think that level boosting to level 70 is still fun, though, because level 70 isn't the highest level possible, so players will still have to work to get a higher level. If players decide NOT to level boost or if they aren't there for the event, then I still think it's fun. I don't care much about being able to farm your way to level 70, so no, that part isn't really fun. What I do find fun is being able to get my 1st and then 2nd job classes :) However, I do see your point about new players joining the game during a level boosting event, and just getting to go to level 70 immediately. This was the case when I first joined, and I started playing with my level boosted GrM. I practiced sparring with my friends, and I absolutely sucked, so yeah, I can see new level boosted players could ruin other players' pvp. (i agree with your ice burner part tho)
Out of all the MMORPGs I've played, Mabinogi was the only one I quit not out of boredom, but because I was investing too much time into it. It's by far the best MMORPG I have ever played, and I've had my fair share of games in the genre.

Errr...not...really. If you're talking about pvp yes you can get wiped in a few hits if you're not good enough (got half of my health wiped with one skill once) but if you're skilled enough it's fine and pve is a joke XD The only things you really spend money on are the costumes.
Dragons Nest should definitely be on the top of the list. Ive tried out the majority of these games before watching this video. And I can say without a doubt, Dragons Nest's combination of graphics, and TRUE true action combat is what makes me say this.
PvP is filled with salty children and party play just makes the game look too easy (and let's be honest, it does make the game too easy, SOLO PLAY doesn't even get moderately challenging until Cutty Sark in Feita), which is very unappealing to many.
For all the SAO geeks to whom this may concern, there is currently 3 different forms of nerve gear in the works. Rift, Vive and Project Morpheus. With projected costs of $1500 (including a computer that can handle the system requirements) and release dates for winter and 2016-17. The companies admit that the technology is still pretty rough. However they see a future in this form of gaming and social media. Enjoy.
Maple Story was a best game in my life but the Greedy GM make Cash items powerful same Gunbound was best of my games before its normal game but the Greedy GM make items- weapons- equipment by cash only and not only me leaved the game before Gunbound have 12 server and now 4 only. i dont mean i dont put cash i wast all my money the online games. i play LOL now i wast more than 2000$ in 4 years.
I love elsword the fact that it really feels like the platformers I used to play makes it interesting and fun though the evolving from the second to third evolution takes an enormous long time.
Aura Kingdom's out now, honestly it's the first anime MMO I've seen where the characters aren't chibi and look decent. Gameplay is fairly standard point-and-click, but the graphics along with getting to choose how you look through costumes are pretty good.
Raishu I do not like playing a gender lock game simply because it is a restriction that is not necessary! It is bad enough that most of these games have horrible character creation but it is a lazy thing to do to lock genders and say no you cannot play a male wizard or a female knight because we said so.
I do see it as lazy because I have seen the crappiest of games out there without gender lock and any game that would be worth playing would at least push forward and add that within their title to improve their own community. But instead some do not and thn have the nerve to charge for gender lock cosmetics and such like items.
I played Flyff in second grade every day! The community is insanely small nowadays, but I have so many good memories there. :) You can fly around the world freely, and it is so fun! :D
I play Mabinogi and tried out Eden Eternal some time back because I heard it had a similar system to Mabinogi's own (the ability to freely use and train skills), but I just found disappointment. You can change classes on the fly but that's about as good as it gets. Combat is really boring and you still get restricted to skills only from your own class. Mabinogi is the only game I've found where you can learn and use all the skills available (race restricted aside) at any time you want in any order. You can go from a sword and shield warrior, to a mage and still retain both while continuing to grow more. On gameplay alone Mabinogi blows Eden Eternal out of the water.
Grand Chase is actually the best of these. its got the most anime-like of these. Who likes fighting games should play it. Latale and Maplestory are not bad too but Maple not working on Win7 properly. :( I kinda prefer Latale over MS .
Paolo Capuozzo i played both, elsword and GC honestly. i prob prefer elsword. but for some odd reason i could not get hooked on elsword like i did for GC years ago. but i cant play GC anymore cuz all the new stuff they added kinda just turned me off xD
Elsword isn't killer combos, it's just based off of looping then catching then doing another loop, wait what's that, he escaped, catch then back to looping, plus it has a smaller variety of characters, sure it has classes and shit but you can only have 3 characters, there's a stamina meter too. Plus it's hard to become AS STRONG as possible in elsword without using k-ching whereas GC, cash items are easily achieved in events, quests and just normal dungeoning
all these games look fun and all but sadly i can't enjoy them because i don't live in the us . sure i can play them but it's impossible to have fun with 2 second delays .
I used to play maple story around the time it came out. It is, still to this day one of the best games I have ever played.Have may good memory's even when i was still level 20 and went into areas with monsters i couldn't handle (had to call my friends for help i did not want to die. I let then fight as i escaped had to do what i had to do). But sadly due to the GM they put good and bad updated that took more away from your experience then actually added and made it into more of a 'give us your money and get stronger'( for lack of a better word/expression) then actually working your way through the game and having the satisfaction of knowing you did it your self.
I've played most of the games here except Maplestory, Pangya and LaTale and for me my favorite will always be Fiesta Online, all of these games are fun and great but I get bored after a while of playing.
i would have liked to so Elsword up more, i mean in my opinion its one of the best NOT pay to win game's, pvp needs to be worked on tho, nothing like being lv40 and end up fighting a lv60 >.> other then that, the gear is cool the skills are cool, and the community is really nice, if u get something you think you can sell... just ask someone will either help you with it or buy it from you right there.
I am now interested in Dragon Nest. I will say this: I have played Eden Eternal... While it IS flexible with style things, and it offers much, it gets SO DULL AND BORING after SO LITTLE TIME X_X My character already has like nearly every class, and I stopped playing long ago. It. Is. Just. Too. Repetitive. Good? Yes. But repetitive on new levels u.u
Personally I think Dragon Nest is garbage. If you've ever played Dynasty Warriors or Vindictus, they tried to do a combat style ripped off of those while still keeping generic MMO controls. By that I mean every one of your skills has to be on the 1-0 number bar. It just doesn't feel natural to have to move your hands from WASD all the way over to 0 just to use a certain attack, especially while trying to stay mobile. Speaking of skills, at least for me, half of the time my skill 'combos' didn't even work. For example the archer class is supposed to be able to kick-launch a downed enemy and then hit them several times in the air, but I've never managed to do that successfully. The last attacks just whiff right past it. The "physics" if you can call them that are pretty pathetic. It's literally only implemented as far that if you shoot a bookcase with arrows, it will eventually spontaneously explode into solid chunks with said books splitting in half while staying in place since they're just part of the texture. You can't move any of the props, so they're basically just obstacles to walk around or destroy for no non-quest-drop-related reason. I suppose you should take my comment with a grain of salt because I'm clearly a _massive_ hater against Dragon Nest. I can't stand any part of it because it really just seems to me like they tried to make an anime-style clone of Vindictus and royally failed. If you're still interested, all the more power to you--But if you end up not liking it, you were warned.

i absolutely agree that Eden Eternal is the best, and that almost just wrecks my mood because i been trying all night to make it work and it wont, so i sort of took my mind off it looking at other MMO, and then it throws its self back in my face being the undeniably best anime MMO, however, i believe Aura Kingdom would take its place now

I am a huge fan of Fiesta online, you aren't able to customize your character's armor But you are able to choose between 3 styles of hair, and color. Now, you do have to pay for some really cool fashion and hair, but as you level up, the outfits just get better, and better. There really isn't a story line.. But it's fun to build and it's a lot of fun to level up and show off your new skills to all your friends and guild/academy members.

When i was younger i was addicted to runescape. Now its 6 years later. i go and attempt to play it but now i just cant. And because i really enjoy anime and anime inspired art work ive been searching for a new mmorpg to play. I've played Elsword, Eden Eternal, Aura Kingdom, Tera and Aion. But i just can't seem to get addicted to these games anymore. I don't know why but all these games are just missing something. For example, in games like Tera and Aion the world chat is bloody useless and unless you are with friend you know irl its hard to find help. Eden Eternal has an awesome community i wish that was in other games. Can anyone recommend a MMORPG thats really addicting and has a good community? It doesn't have to be anime styled but that is prefered.
Dragon nest's combat system is soooo great and interactive, I love it! At the moment I play Tera because it has the best graphics around for now, and the combat system is also really cool and interactive. By that I mean a good combination of evading attacking and other maneuvres instead of just skillspamming.
Huh. . . Just because a game doesn't have 'realistic' style gfx but a 'plastic fantastic' one doesnt mean it has anything to do with Anime what so ever. Its just much simpler/lazier to make. Even middle school students can make plastic chibi characters in blender. (No offense to devs) Regardless, dear mmohut, where the f*k did games like Rusty Hearts, S4League, Audition, Arche Blade etc go? You claim to have "wide range" of styles on this list . . . but not really. What seems odd is that RH is not included on your list even though its higher production value and quality (and fun) than some of the old entries you suggested.

When I played Auro Kingdom, I felt that I was just watching an anime, not playing a game. The questing was too guided. One click and i could just sit back as my character auto walks to do quests. Another click and they would auto hit monsters until they were dead. I quit the game early on though, so i'm not sure if it's like that in the higher levels or if it was just beginner support.
Really Maplestory is one of the best MMORPG's ever made. I find myself returning to this game every year. I've been playingit for more than 6 years already. I hope that Maplesorty 2 will be as or even more amazing.
IMO, Elsword is the best on the list in terms of a balance in gameplay and graphics. This was released a few years ago, but the graphics looks great and well polished, as it steadily updated to keep up with the times. Since this is a fast paced 2D style game, the gameplay is very fluid and requires you to use skill and timing to win with satisfactory results. Some elements like manual dodging are for example, is absent in a lot of 3D mmo. This sort of thing keeps you engaged and and active, which is something I like.
I played most of these games.... and i must say that EdenEternal is the grindiest game in the lot! I do not agree with it taking first position! The game starts of fine but gets super cliche and super grindy!!!
Valvrave If you like grindiness then by all means go for it!! But, Personally I like games to be fluid and NON-GRINDY and that is why I said that. You play games for fun. If it ain't fun then it defeats the purpose of playing them. For u grind is fun, but for me grind is boring. I don't think we can make generalizations like "MMORPGs are supposed to be grindy" there are games like Guild Wars 2 that handle levelling up pretty well. Anyways I was just stating my opinions.

yuriy yakimov Yeah, Rift isn't quite 'FREE TO PLAY'. I played it too and I had the same experience as you. Anyways, if you really like MMORPGs then my first recommendation would be GuildWars 2. Of course it is not free but you can buy the game once and you will own it forever. The Micro-transaction system is quite good and the game too isn't that expensive. Check out AngryJoe's review on it to know more. Moving on to free to play games, I would strongly recommend you to try PATH OF EXILE. The game is really good. It is an RPG which has similar style as that of DIABLO3. Another good free to play game would be Warframe. It's third person shooter game which has several RPG elements to it. It's micro-transaction system seems to have some balancing issues , but, you can still play the entire game without paying any money. Lastly,If you are interested in card games you should try Hearthstone. It's an awesome Collectible-Card-Game that is totally free. The only catch is that you need to get a Beta key. BYE!!!! :)
If you're looking out for a good anime MMORPG try Phantasy Star Online 2, It's not entirely anime, but it's really well and has recently come to SEA. Also Maplestory 2 Is coming out for Korea, and i'm trying it when it comes public (probably end of this/next year) And another game thats coming out is called Closers Dimension Conflict, which is exactly like Elsword, but more Refined and more nicer graphics. Plus it's also made by nexon which also made Elsword and Maplestory. And currently also making Maplestory 2.
Aura Kingdom does have aspects I enjoy over others, but over-all the leveling system sucks. Even at the lowest levels it takes almost an hour to gain a single level-up from grinding and side-quests don't give very much EXP to begin with, so your whole EXP income is based on the main quest-line for the longest time. Once you finish it (After having to make the level prerequisites during the quest-line as well) you're basically fucked on EXP. Honestly, it took me at least 4 hours to go from level 44-45.from mob-grinding just so I could continue the main quest-line. If it wasn't for that, yeah, but no. An RPG with a dysfunctional leveling system isn't very effective nor fun to play.
you actually can play it by using PSO2 Tweaker but you have to get some ip changers to get the Sega ID, even with a japanese captcha to get it, kinda a pain, aaaaand its not so awesome as it appears, really

I am in love with elsword! I first played Grand chase but then i saw that elsword came out and i was like "it's gonna be lame." And i love it even more than the 'original' game. We just need more characters and classes. Yet, i love the graphics, its not a chibi like look for the characters which i liked most of all, and the skill, dungeons, and everything else.

Are you fucking kidding me? That is the biggest joke ever. I've played MapleStory since beta, I had many max leveled 200 characters before I quit (before the raised level cap) and I've spent thousands of dollars to get my gear as overpowered as they were. It's actually impossible to defeat many of the later bosses without help from the cash shop, and it's the later bosses that drop items that are worth enough money to buy decent gear.
At the time that I had quit, I was doing well over 10x the damage of any other level 200 character without cash-shop improved gear. I stopped playing because I had to pay my own bills, and then I realised how much I'd been spending on MapleStory.
Just on a single gear, you can upgrade it through the cash shop and get 36% stat boost to your main stat. You can't (realistically) do that without the cash shop, and multiply that by each piece of armor you wear + acccessories. Anybody who says the cash shop is relatively fair has clearly never played it. It hasn't been fair since they introduced non-cosmetic goods.

In fact, if you knew anything about the game you'd know that pink bean went undefeated in all global and kms servers until miracle cubes were introduced, because parties couldn't get a high enough dps output. Last I played, I was able to solo these bosses with miracle cubed gear on my db or phantom.
Aura Kingdom might top this list. It looks like an updated version of Eden Eternal. I agree with Mabinogi, it's actually the number 1 in my opinion. They add so much content it's hard to keep up so instead I think they should focus on polishing what they have the next couple of months.

Personally, after how long its been around, I would have rather seen Mabinogi on top. No matter what you can always leave a game and find another one similar but you literally cannot find anything even close to what Mabinogi gives, its one of the very very few games I can honestly say I feel is entirely original from the ground up.

I love love that you mentioned Mabinogi, I love that game so much, when I get a new desktop it will be the first game I reinstall. It is hands down the game where it's community helped me through a lot of hard times in my life. More people in Mabinogi are just in general very helpful people who care about other players in more than just their character/avatar role.
Many times I've spent hours talking to people I've met on there and found solace in knowing that they actually care about the hard times I've been through rather than just being your typical WoW player who cares absolutely nothing about the life outside of the game that their friends are involved in.
Mabinogi is more than just it's great community though, the combat is very anti level based. Meaning just because you are a higher level than someone does NOT mean that you would be able to beat a character with better skills.
I've reincarnated myself as a level one character and whooped the crap out of a higher level character who hadn't worked on his skills as much as I did.
There is also a lot of unique features such as being able to choose the AGE of your character and how your character being of a certain age affects aspects of your character's skills, as well as stats, speed, etc.

But for me the game is too too boreing. I played it for like 5h in a two day period and as much as i tried to like it i just didn't. It looks old, it's slow in combat and the music isn't as great either. I can see how people can like it a lot, if they haven't played tons of mmo's like i have, but for me it's just the same old mmo with a more advanced skill tree, that's all.
ILikeChocolateBrah The music early on isn't that good but it getsto you eventually. It really shines in that aspect though once you get to later portions of the game and it's story. As for the graphics while outdated, the customability (original word so what) of your character can at the very least make things a bit more attractive though for it's time the graphics really aren't that bad. And on the contrary, to me Mabi's system and economy is one of the best I've seen in an MMO and I've had quite a gander at many. Some of which I can name being Tera, Grand Fantasia, Aura Kingdom, Runescape, Eden Eternal, Shaiya Online, Shin Megami Tensei Online, Cosmic Break, Elsword, and Fiesta. And there's a lot more where that came from, but those are some pretty notable ones.

As someone who played every game on this list, Eden eternal would be #1 3D mmorpg, but Latale would have to take #1 2D side scrolling mmorpg. Latale is unimaginably satisfying and has kept players around for 5+ years.
Mabinogi is soo much better than Maplestory! (before you think that I'm not giving Maplestory a chance, I actually played Maplestory for over a year before Ieven knew Mabinogi existed. But as soon as I started playing Mabinogi, I was hooked. I currently have both on my computer right now.)

Not to mention the combat systems for both are way different you can't loop basic combos in grand chase, elsword doesn't have mana regen stats on equipment, no grabs in elsword pvp either and you can't spam your 100 mp bar every 5 seconds through mana regen and freeze frames either. They're just way to different to even remotely call them the same game.

I played Eden Eternal last summer and lvling up was a pain in the ass. I was a Samurai and the skill animations looked the same. It was all grind, grind and grind. If you got no friends in there, you'll get stuck trying find a party for a dungeon run quest. I prefer DN over EE in every way.

Elsword is always going to be #1 for me, out of all of these other games. Yes, there are salty players in pvp, and some characters more stronger than others, but there are many positives to the game as well.
I love how KOG is working on making dungeons more challenging and the winners match pvp is fun, too. You're able to choose your own character and see which one suits your playing style the best.
You can play with parties in dungeons (and those party members can be your friends!), get married, and there are fun events, like where you can immediately level boost to lev. 70 and get your second job class immediately! Which brings me to the next thing i love about to this game. The classes are all unique and I like the fact that each character has a noble class, a dark path, and a.. well, basically a "Screw it, I'm not gonna be noble OR bad! I'm choosing my own path!" class.
You can buy cool items to boost your stats and make your character look cooler, with the price of..(continued)
..paying k-ching, of course. To get k-ching, you need to purchase it with money, HOWEVER, you can also join contests and stuff to get a chance at winning free k-ching, and you can also just do surveys to get it, too.
I definitely recommend Elsword if you can handle the salty players you may encounter in pvp :) There are lots of friendly players in the game though!
I have questions.
You say every character has a light path, a dark path and a flexible path. What's Elsword's Dark path? What's Rena's? How about Chung's? What's Add's Light path? What's Lu/Ciel's?
Why is boosting immediately to lv70 fun? Getting to endgame without doing any work is a bad thing, especially when it's new players doing it. It just leads to incompetent endgame players.
Even if you don't boost to 70, you can get there in a week if you want to. Where's the sense of accomplishment in reaching endgame levels that gives such a good feeling in other games? You farmed for a week. Congrats. You unlocked all our content in seven days. Woohoo.
Also:
If you want to be competitive at all in PvP you need an Ice Burner costume set. This is not optional at high levels. Skill gaps can mitigate it, but no one got to SSS being carried by their stats. You will not do well in high-rank PvP without an Ice Burner set. Those cost buckets of KC or even bigger buckets of ED to get. Yes, it's fun IF you have a chance AND you aren't fighting a salty player, but the lower ranks are oversaturated with those players and the high ranks require such expensive gear that it's just not worth it for free players. I know several SSS players IRL who quit the game because they hated how much they had to spend on keeping costumes and gear updated to be competitive.
Don't get me wrong, Elsword is a good game. I like it quite a bit myself. That said, Eden Eternal is a GREAT game. That's why Elsword is 5 and Eden is 1. Try Eden. You will see quickly why it's so good. The class system is one-of-a-kind. Combat feels good. The social aspect is there.
Also: Aura Kingdom. It was released after this list was made, but it was made by the same guys as Eden. They outdid themselves with Aura Kingdom.

Alright, sorry, need to take that class statement back then. I was thinking mostly about Elesis, since I play her the most.
I think that level boosting to level 70 is still fun, though, because level 70 isn't the highest level possible, so players will still have to work to get a higher level. If players decide NOT to level boost or if they aren't there for the event, then I still think it's fun. I don't care much about being able to farm your way to level 70, so no, that part isn't really fun. What I do find fun is being able to get my 1st and then 2nd job classes :)
However, I do see your point about new players joining the game during a level boosting event, and just getting to go to level 70 immediately. This was the case when I first joined, and I started playing with my level boosted GrM. I practiced sparring with my friends, and I absolutely sucked, so yeah, I can see new level boosted players could ruin other players' pvp.

Out of all the MMORPGs I've played, Mabinogi was the only one I quit not out of boredom, but because I was investing too much time into it. It's by far the best MMORPG I have ever played, and I've had my fair share of games in the genre.
Personally, I would swap Mabinogi and Maplestory's places.

Dragons Nest should definitely be on the top of the list. Ive tried out the majority of these games before watching this video. And I can say without a doubt, Dragons Nest's combination of graphics, and TRUE true action combat is what makes me say this.

PvP is filled with salty children and party play just makes the game look too easy (and let's be honest, it does make the game too easy, SOLO PLAY doesn't even get moderately challenging until Cutty Sark in Feita), which is very unappealing to many.
+Loco party makes the game look more fun. They showed eve doing boring skills and playing solo.

For all the SAO geeks to whom this may concern, there is currently 3 different forms of nerve gear in the works. Rift, Vive and Project Morpheus. With projected costs of $1500 (including a computer that can handle the system requirements) and release dates for winter and 2016-17. The companies admit that the technology is still pretty rough. However they see a future in this form of gaming and social media. Enjoy.

I love elsword the fact that it really feels like the platformers I used to play makes it interesting and fun though the evolving from the second to third evolution takes an enormous long time.
Aura Kingdom's out now, honestly it's the first anime MMO I've seen where the characters aren't chibi and look decent. Gameplay is fairly standard point-and-click, but the graphics along with getting to choose how you look through costumes are pretty good.
My favorite is on the 2nd of the list... Dragon Nest!! :D

Raishu I do not like playing a gender lock game simply because it is a restriction that is not necessary! It is bad enough that most of these games have horrible character creation but it is a lazy thing to do to lock genders and say no you cannot play a male wizard or a female knight because we said so.

I do see it as lazy because I have seen the crappiest of games out there without gender lock and any game that would be worth playing would at least push forward and add that within their title to improve their own community. I played Flyff in second grade every day! The community is insanely small nowadays, but I have so many good memories there. :) You can fly around the world freely, and it is so fun! :D
I play Mabinogi and tried out Eden Eternal some time back because I heard it had a similar system to Mabinogi's own (the ability to freely use and train skills), but I just found disappointment. You can change classes on the fly but that's about as good as it gets. Combat is really boring and you still get restricted to skills only from your own class.
Mabinogi is the only game I've found where you can learn and use all the skills available (race restricted aside) at any time you want in any order. You can go from a sword and shield warrior, to a mage and still retain both while continuing to grow more. On gameplay alone Mabinogi blows Eden Eternal out of the water.
Grand Chase is actually the best of these. its got the most anime-like of these. Who likes fighting games should play it. Latale and Maplestory are not bad too but Maple not working on Win7 properly. :(

Elsword isn't killer combos, it's just based off of looping then catching then doing another loop, wait what's that, he escaped, catch then back to looping, plus it has a smaller variety of characters, sure it has classes and shit but you can only have 3 characters, there's a stamina meter too. Plus it's hard to become AS STRONG as possible in elsword without using k-ching whereas GC, cash items are easily achieved in events, quests and just normal dungeoning

I used to play maple story around the time it came out. It is, still to this day one of the best games I have ever played.Have may good memory's even when i was still level 20 and went into areas with monsters i couldn't handle (had to call my friends for help i did not want to die. I let then fight as i escaped had to do what i had to do). But sadly due to the GM they put good and bad updated that took more away from your experience then actually added and made it into more of a 'give us your money and get stronger'( for lack of a better word/expression) then actually working your way through the game and having the satisfaction of knowing you did it your self.
I've played most of the games here except Maplestory, Pangya and LaTale and for me my favorite will always be Fiesta Online, all of these games are fun and great but I get bored after a while of playing.

If anything, the PVE community is really nice, the PVP community is...well. But its still holds up pretty well.

I am now interested in Dragon Nest. I will say this: I have played Eden Eternal... While it IS flexible with style things, and it offers much, it gets SO DULL AND BORING after SO LITTLE TIME X_X My character already has like nearly every class, and I stopped playing long ago. It. Is. Just. Too. Repetitive. Good? Yes. But repetitive on new levels u.u
Personally I think Dragon Nest is garbage. If you've ever played Dynasty Warriors or Vindictus, they tried to do a combat style ripped off of those while still keeping generic MMO controls. By that I mean every one of your skills has to be on the 1-0 number bar. It just doesn't feel natural to have to move your hands from WASD all the way over to 0 just to use a certain attack, especially while trying to stay mobile. Speaking of skills, at least for me, half of the time my skill 'combos' didn't even work. For example the archer class is supposed to be able to kick-launch a downed enemy and then hit them several times in the air, but I've never managed to do that successfully. The last attacks just whiff right past it.
The "physics" if you can call them that are pretty pathetic. It's literally only implemented as far that if you shoot a bookcase with arrows, it will eventually spontaneously explode into solid chunks with said books splitting in half while staying in place since they're just part of the texture. You can't move any of the props, so they're basically just obstacles to walk around or destroy for no non-quest-drop-related reason.
I suppose you should take my comment with a grain of salt because I'm clearly a _massive_ hater against Dragon Nest. I can't stand any part of it because it really just seems to me like they tried to make an anime-style clone of Vindictus and royally failed. If you're still interested, all the more power to you--But if you end up not liking it, you were warned.

i absolutely agree that Eden Eternal is the best, and that almost just wrecks my mood because i been trying all night to make it work and it wont, so i sort of took my mind off it looking at other MMO, and then it throws its self back in my face being the undeniably best anime MMO, however, i believe Aura Kingdom would take its place now

I don't know when it came out, but Aura Kingdom shouldve been on there somewhere.
I am a huge fan of Fiesta online, you aren't able to customize your character's armor But you are able to choose between 3 styles of hair, and color. Now, you do have to pay for some really cool fashion and hair, but as you level up, the outfits just get better, and better. There really isn't a story line.. But it's fun to build and it's a lot of fun to level up and show off your new skills to all your friends and guild/academy members.

When i was younger i was addicted to runescape. Now its 6 years later. i go and attempt to play it but now i just cant. And because i really enjoy anime and anime inspired art work ive been searching for a new mmorpg to play. I've played Elsword, Eden Eternal, Aura Kingdom, Tera and Aion. But i just can't seem to get addicted to these games anymore. I don't know why but all these games are just missing something. For example, in games like Tera and Aion the world chat is bloody useless and unless you are with friend you know irl its hard to find help. Eden Eternal has an awesome community i wish that was in other games. Can anyone recommend a MMORPG thats really addicting and has a good community? It doesn't have to be anime styled but that is prefered.

Dragon nest's combat system is soooo great and interactive, I love it!
At the moment I play Tera because it has the best graphics around for now, and the combat system is also really cool and interactive. By that I mean a good combination of evading attacking and other maneuvres instead of just skillspamming.

Huh. . . Just because a game doesn't have 'realistic' style gfx but a 'plastic fantastic' one doesnt mean it has anything to do with Anime what so ever. Its just much simpler/lazier to make. Even middle school students can make plastic chibi characters in blender. (No offense to devs)
Regardless, dear mmohut, where the f*k did games like Rusty Hearts, S4League, Audition, Arche Blade etc go? You claim to have "wide range" of styles on this list . . . but not really. What seems odd is that RH is not included on your list even though its higher production value and quality (and fun) than some of the old entries you suggested.

OriginalCelebi Yeah thats true. S4league and Arche blade are more MMOTPAG (mmo third person action games) with RPG elements. You can't categorize them as FPS without all the CS/BF/COD fans killing you in comments, but they are plastic-stylized with Dragon Ball haircuts and free. hehe

When I played Auro Kingdom, I felt that I was just watching an anime, not playing a game. The questing was too guided. One click and i could just sit back as my character auto walks to do quests. Another click and they would auto hit monsters until they were dead. I quit the game early on though, so i'm not sure if it's like that in the higher levels or if it was just beginner support.

Really Maplestory is one of the best MMORPG's ever made. I find myself returning to this game every year. I've been playingit for more than 6 years already. I hope that Maplesorty 2 will be as or even more amazing.
IMO, Elsword is the best on the list in terms of a balance in gameplay and graphics. This was released a few years ago, but the graphics looks great and well polished, as it steadily updated to keep up with the times. Since this is a fast paced 2D style game, the gameplay is very fluid and requires you to use skill and timing to win with satisfactory results. Some elements like manual dodging are for example, is absent in a lot of 3D mmo. This sort of thing keeps you engaged and and active, which is something I like.

I played most of these games.... and i must say that EdenEternal is the grindiest game in the lot! I do not agree with it taking first position! The game starts of fine but gets super cliche and super grindy!!!

If you like grindiness then by all means go for it!! But, Personally I like games to be fluid and NON-GRINDY and that is why I said that. You play games for fun. If it ain't fun then it defeats the purpose of playing them. For u grind is fun, but for me grind is boring. I don't think we can make generalizations like "MMORPGs are supposed to be grindy" there are games like Guild Wars 2 that handle levelling up pretty well. Anyways I was just stating my opinions.

yuriy yakimov Yeah, Rift isn't quite 'FREE TO PLAY'. I played it too and I had the same experience as you. Anyways, if you really like MMORPGs then my first recommendation would be GuildWars 2. Of course it is not free but you can buy the game once and you will own it forever. The Micro-transaction system is quite good and the game too isn't that expensive. Check out AngryJoe's review on it to know more.
Moving on to free to play games, I would strongly recommend you to try PATH OF EXILE. The game is really good. It is an RPG which has similar style as that of DIABLO3.
Another good free to play game would be Warframe. It's third person shooter game which has several RPG elements to it. It's micro-transaction system seems to have some balancing issues , but, you can still play the entire game without paying any money.
Lastly,If you are interested in card games you should try Hearthstone. It's an awesome Collectible-Card-Game that is totally free. The only catch is that you need to get a Beta key.

Does anyone else remember DOMO from aeriagames? That was the first MMORPG I ever played and even though it wasn't the BEST, I still miss it a lot.
If you're looking out for a good anime MMORPG try Phantasy Star Online 2, It's not entirely anime, but it's really well and has recently come to SEA.
Also Maplestory 2 Is coming out for Korea, and i'm trying it when it comes public (probably end of this/next year)
And another game thats coming out is called Closers Dimension Conflict, which is exactly like Elsword, but more Refined and more nicer graphics. Plus it's also made by nexon which also made Elsword and Maplestory. And currently also making Maplestory 2.

Aura Kingdom does have aspects I enjoy over others, but over-all the leveling system sucks. Even at the lowest levels it takes almost an hour to gain a single level-up from grinding and side-quests don't give very much EXP to begin with, so your whole EXP income is based on the main quest-line for the longest time. Once you finish it (After having to make the level prerequisites during the quest-line as well) you're basically fucked on EXP. Honestly, it took me at least 4 hours to go from level 44-45.from mob-grinding just so I could continue the main quest-line. If it wasn't for that, yeah, but no. An RPG with a dysfunctional leveling system isn't very effective nor fun to play.

While downloading Eden Eternal, I decided to check this list to see what else was good...glad to see I made the right choice!
I am in love with elsword! I first played Grand chase but then i saw that elsword came out and i was like "it's gonna be lame." And i love it even more than the 'original' game. We just need more characters and classes. Yet, i love the graphics, its not a chibi like look for the characters which i liked most of all, and the skill, dungeons, and everything else.
