    I love the mix between 'How it's made', history of, design, and estheatics. Great video as always!

    All around an excellent video. Should be a “must watch” for all people who have questions about leather Great point especially on the age of calf. It’s not clear to me that there is much “true” calf these days so much as yearling leather. Makes sense, as veal has become much less common.

    For decades I did not use leather, for ethical reasons. In recent years, I have resumed the use of certain leather products, mainly shoes, but I know very little about the subject. Thank you for this informative overview.

    This was such an informative video for those who may not know much about leather. As someone who values footwear, these videos help myself when deciding if a product is worth the money or not. Sadly a lot of brands will use marketing terms that makes consumers believe they are getting a deal, when in reality it’s just not.
    Great video! 👏🏼

    • @gentlemansgazette
      @gentlemansgazette  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Very true - generally speaking, a lot of marketing terms are there for bottom-line profit, not to ensure the customer gets a great item. So pleased to hear you enjoyed the video!

    Buying a leather garment or product is a lot like buying leather furniture. We bought a $46,000 leather suite. First quality. Top grain. Minimally corrected. Love it. It will last 15+ years. As will quality leather garments and products.. purchase quality and rest easy

    I realize this is a little out of the scope of this channel, but I was hoping to learn about leather for dog collars. I suppose, it would similar to belts, but maybe more emphasis on durability than looks? I'm thinking about getting into leather working just because I am having a hard time finding exactly what I want for my service dog. Any advice would be great.

      perhaps look into saddlery. it's much more functional than anything modern leatherworkers put out, more durable with traditional stitching and building techniques. back then things were made for work, the fashion aspect came as a plus.

    I think the little head in a bubble in the corner thing is a bit weird looking. Maybe a slightly bigger bubble that includes your chest/arms would look more natural

    I do think that there is too much snobbery towards fashion labels only because they are expensive and have the oh factor that the connoisseur lacks . But service is equal to none and the product is always good quality, so you don't waste all your money only pay more wich is not terrible. Of course not any brand name is good quality, but the three italian houses and those two French ones are excellent choices. I think they missed the embossed leather like safiano which are water resistant and scratch resistant but stiff. Shiny leather like montblanc will always scratch very easily no matter quality.

    I find it funny how some people call leather environmentally unfriendly. If you take proper care leather goods can last a lifetime. Compare that to buying synthetic made in China materials you have to change every year
