It’s insane how he remembers every tree and the history of the tree like if they were all his children. He knows when they were started or last repotted and where he was in his own life. Insane.
I am going to Wisley on Tuesday (1st June). I am so looking forward to seeing these trees in real life. I have been wanting to do this for some time and how lucky am I that this is actually going to happen. Lovely collection.
Its incredible to have a bonsai master like Peter Chan in your phone or computer few clicks away for free! All the things to learn! All the videos i have yet to watch. Just incredible, in the old times i assume you'd have to train for years to even meet a bonsai master. Thank you for the videos!
Beautiful trees. Copied your wisteria air layering techniques. And after a worryingly amount of dead stick in a bag it's come to life. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship in such a wonderful style. Be well and stay safe.
It is nice to see your Bonsai trees at the Wesley Garden. We in Michigan had Snow in the United States too in April. It must have Snowed all over the world that day. I had Snow drifts up to two to three feet here. I Love the walk through the garden with you🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🚶♂️💃💚💚💚💚💚
Thank you.... 🙏 😔 🙏 Dr. Chan I like Wisleys very much. It is so relaxing and having you along to guide us. Snow in April, but it's like the trees knew, and waited. I don't know how or what but when there is a late cold snap everything waits. Your apprentice was camera shy, I hope she had a rewarding experience. Who couldn't at Heron's. 🎄🙏 🖖 🙏 😔 🙏 🙏 🙏 🎄
Hello Peter, Let me congratulate you on your lovely bonsais. Lovely little adorable 'darlings'.. You keep mentioning 1997. That was the year I visited your nursery, in Linfield, Surrey. You were so kind to me, even more so when I told you that I came, all the way from little Malta. However don't recognise any of the ones you show, here. Like you said ''Trees are like people''. They do change...for the better in your expert , masterly bonsai knowledge. In 2005, you visited us as guest of our club....I liked each and every tree shown, but the video, did make me sad, on remembering,''The memory of what has been...and never more will be'' . .
Enjoy the guided tour and also showing us how Wisley is changing. Every tree is magnificent and the crabapple is always my favorite! Thank you Peter. I have so much respect and admiration for you. Warm wishes from your #1 Florida fan! 🌴🐊🦩🦎😎🐚
These are all gorgeous! And I'm a lot like you in the aspect, I love giant bonsai, I want all of mine to grow such thick trunks! Formal uprights mostly too for me, where I grew up we had massive oaks, magnolia, hackberrys, and pines. They were all extremely tall and big around. The formal uprights just feel like home to me
Peter wields axe's, chainsaw's, log splitters, lump hammers but @14:24 can just about push a tree label into the pot 🤣 🙄 great trees on show thanks for the tour Peter 👍
Hi Peter, big fan here. I was wondering if at some point in the future you could do a video on how to improve small bonsai. Primarily, your bog standard garden centre small bonsai, like a small chinese elm or a dawn redwood. I was gifted them last summer and they're growing like crazy in this nice weather and want to "improve" them rather than just trimming the long shoots into a messy ball shape.
Not sure of his schedule, but I use granule fertilizer, ( high nitrogen ) that is placed in the soil, and it feeds every time I water. I change the granules ( add new granules ) about every 3 months, through the early spring to the late fall. I still water the winter, but very rarely, depending on how the weather is here. When I do water in the winter, I still use a fertilizer, but its less nitrogen. ( 7-9-5 ) Some say its pointless to fertilize in the winter, but I have had great results in my schedule the past few years.
Presence, yes, a Majestic Presence, like the throne of a king. Master, I have dug up all my american elms and placed them in plastic flower pots, I am not fond of the species, but in time I will be.
is there a forum or something similar where one can ask about plant stuff, im doing some botanical stuff on my balcony, and some things arent goin quite the way i hoped they would, and i dont know what i did wrong
ive been trying to transplant an oaks from the forest, small saplings, 20ish cm in height, but they keep dying, and this last one "died", but from its roots sprouted a new leader, which was growing nicely for a few weeks, and now the tips of the leaves (which are still in a bud) are turning black and i dont know what to do
@@christiansandri9155 yes, there are many forums, just type your problem into your search engine, and look through the results, you will find several sites where you can ask questions, or someone may already have asked a simular question so the answer could be right there.
@@terryforsdyke306 ive tried just googling, but it always sends me to posts regarding mature oaks, which are withering due to various reasons, i didnt find any of those helpful, since my plant is 3cm tall
Mr. Chan and community, sorry this comment isn't about the video but I could use some help I.D.ing a tree. I went to an exhibition a few weeks back. A lady was doing a demonstration on a tree and let the audience take the trimmings home for cuttings. The cuttings are now taking root and I can't remember what it is! It's a tropical tree with purple/lavender flowers, has thorns, has small foliage, she said it was popular in Indonesia for bonsai material, and I believe it started with a D. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Tell your new apprentice that she's never going to be a bonsai gardener by randomly snipping away at the branches with one hand while the other one is in her pocket doing nothing. ADVICE: One hand cutting the other hand steadying the branch.

At this point I feel as if I know the trees, too. I think, after these years, I might be a sophomore at Peter Chan University.
I think Peter may remember every 989,762 trees in his nursery. LOL
Their definitely his babies. Proud father.
@@robbybobby6483Peter dont own the trees, the trees own him! 😆

Lucky you! Probably one of the best times to visit with all the new growth on the trees

Each one of these trees are his children. Magnificent. He has inspired me to grow bonsai
Very beautiful trees. One more beautiful than the other. The wonder of nature makes the heart beat faster.

An awesome display of your talent and visions for Bonsai. Your recollections of each one’s history is impressive.

Afternoon bonsai delight 🥰♥️
Lovely tour of wonderful trees. The snow on the branches was magical, reminded me of old wintertime Japanese woodcut prints.
Always great to see this whisleys collection! Great inspirational trees

He says the bonsai are twenty or thirty years old so casually. Twenty or thirty years, that's amazing!

Such a beautiful display......I only wish there was a place nearby me that I can go to see real bonsai.

I love these updates. When are you coming down to Kingsdown next?.. Can I assist you when you do? I'll sweep up the cuttings and just learn! :)
Hey, Mr. Chan, there's a park near my house that could use a few large bonsai. ;)
I remember meeting Peter at Herons about 30 years ago. Unfortunately my unsettled life meant I had to sell my trees.
Presence, yes, a Majestic Presence, like the throne of a king.

Do you have any advice on how to make eucalyptus tree bonsai's?
I don't but I am sure some Australian bonsai buffs will be able to advise you.
I have a pine bonsai and a ficus bonsai. Please tell me what do I feed them and how often?
Feed from Spring and then every two months till early Autumn. High Nitrogen fertiliser in Spring and then High P and K from Summer onwards

What is that white stuff on the ground🤔
SNOW !!

Does anyone know how Peter is connected with Wisley Gardens?
I was invited by the President of the Royal Horticultural Society back in 1997 to make a display of bonsai for Wisley.

I don’t know if I got the name right on the red leaf tree with the pale bark? Is it Isoju? I looked it up online but couldn’t find it.
@Adrian Watton thank you🤗
Who thumbs down 👎 one of Peters videos?
Miserable no marks who think that they are better than him ? Or just goons
