I was going to ask the same question, I think the OP does mean a “rest” so that the output can be syncopated or say 4 notes, a rest, then another 3 notes and back in an 8 step sequence. In a Korg SQ-1, for example the LED is a switch to turn on and off the individual sequenced beats.

The main thing i look for in a step sequencer is cv and trigger inputs. Without a reset, it's pretty useless to me.

You mean reset? I'm afraid that's not possible. If you need a reset function, you will have to go with another sequencer.
