CloverWorks deserves all the praise they can get for their fireworks scene. This festival moment with fireworks is something beautiful but could easily fell into the cliché but the work done here left everything memorable and striking
That shimmering of the water scene as if it were the ocean. Also incredibly well done.
The amazing "realness" of these two is hard to express. They manage to capture just how different they are, but how well those differences come together. Her carefree desire to explore and see, do, try and his solid, responsible, etc nature.
I love that the incredible fireworks of a local city festival (they take immense pride in their local town displays) are all around them, they seem to be alone in the world, and he is only looking at her. He's known for a while, but I think this is the moment that he truly accepts what he's feeling.
Season 2 is happening ladies so please don't stress to much

As much as I love a good tsundere... Marin acknowledging what she wants, and going for it is really adorable... the way she ducks around to show off the back of her neck (for example)
9:03 Funny thing about this is the fact that, few weeks before this episode aired in Japan, there was some info which went viral about how Japanese schools had banned girls from wearing a ponytail because apparently exposing the nape of their necks could “sexually excite” male students.
not sure if anybody told you, but in the manga Marin actually has her tongue pierced. So, when she sticks her tongue out it is one of the few times it is actually noticeable. lol
11:40 One thing the Anime had removed compared to the Manga, is the fact that Marin actually has a Tongue piercing in the Manga, which is clearly shown in that scene.
I have two favorite shots in this of Marin, when she realizes he loves the back of her neck (please don't ask me why, but this is a guy thing, mostly. So many I know just find it extremely attractive) and the next shot is her walking, her head held high, and her face tilted just a little down to accentuate her neck. Because it's working on me at that moment lol. First time watching it I caught myself going "wow... her neck is so pretty, and her hair up... oh COME ONE, she's animated man! Get a grip!" lol. I think it's because men love how women's hair smells, and that part of the neck, always under their hair really pick up their scent and holds on to it. So when we hug you or come up behind and kiss your neck, we get that amazing scent of your hair full force. It's delicately curved and because so often hidden I guess it also has a touch of that "hidden taboo to be seeing it" sort of feel. lol. Plus, when a girl's hair is up like that, you get the benefit of, hopefully, seeing her let her hair down and shake it out and that is irresistibly adorable and sexy at the same time.
The 2nd shot is of her head just barely poking out of the bath, surrounded by unknown darkness and monsters lol. We've all felt that, and it's just so perfect. Really, the animators on this show are top shelf talent. They nail the emotions from subtle to extreme without fail and that shot made me burst out laughing.
Guys? When she's on his back and he thinks "she smells so nice"... how many of you were instantly hit by the smell of that one girl you know/knew? We all know exactly what I'm talking about. Maybe it's the one you married, maybe the one you never asked out, or the one you did that was just a teenage/college thing. But there is always that one that smelled just right, it was almost like a drug, it didn't just smell nice, it got into your brain and made you go all warm and fuzzy, the world got foggy and all you could hear was your heartbeat? Yeah, like I said... the show is so extremely REAL in every line. Because every guy has thought that. The girl assigned as our lab partner in science class sits down next to us, the one we'd never in a million years be able to talk to, she smells like warm vanilla and soft gentle flowers, or a sweeter smell, like spring after rain, and immediately you can only stammer incomplete and incoherent thoughts and somehow you have to pull your self together and focus your mind to appear to know what the hell you're talking about and the struggle is real and exhausting and you can't stop stealing sideways glances under the pretext of seeing what she's writing on her lab notes but really you're looking at the little stray bit of hair falling in front of her ear and hyperfixating on "wow, her ear is pretty" and you feel stupid and know you should look away before she sees you looking at her ear, oh shit, too late, uh, pretend you were looking at the clock just over her head. She points out you have a watch on, crap. So, uh... how about that chemical reaction, am I right?! She knows.
Since you guys loved this anime you should also give "komi can't communicate" a try. Same bubbly lovey vibes but with more people and the main lead trying to get through hardships.
One of the best wholesome animes I've ever watched.

I really wait for S2, the manga is so good.
That walk home with her feet... out of the whole festival, THAT will be the enduring memory, and it will be a very happy, peaceful memory for both of them. Time and love have a way of taking the odd, bizarre, unexpected, disruptive moments of our lives and turning them into our favorite things to recall.
We had a horrible blizzard one Christmas growing up. Got 6 feet of snow in 6 hours. Power was out for days. It was intense. This was Christmas Eve. Only thing we could figure out to cook on the camp stove we had fuel for (no power for actual stove/oven) was a random pack of hot dogs we had in the fridge. So that was Christmas Eve. Grilling hot dogs on a camp stove by the fire with a howling blizzard outside. To this day not a single one of us has ever forgotten that memory and the jokes etc. Our favorite Christmas ever.
i hope you check out "kubo san won't let me be invisible" next for romance. it's supper wholesome funny, and have good romance like the ones you have watched recently. So i think you will like it.
Now that you finished this anime you should react to a new anime on this season that was very awaited. It is BLUE BOX. It is a romcom anime with sports and it is INCREDIBLE AND BEAUTIFUL. You wont regret it.

@@Ri_Shin_Marco As long as we do get it, I'm okay with them taking their time on it, because it's hard to find a more perfect season of ANY show than this was. I don't think I've ever seen a more natural feeling relationship form, from that weird as hell random moment into what this became. It's so real, so very normal. It's very much one of Marin's "slice of life" comics, everything is just... normal stuff. Normal every day stuff. Grabbing fast food, shopping for clothes, or their hobby, watching fireworks, having dinner, good natured teasing, just hanging out and talking. Seriously, I've been watching TV and movies for closing in on 50 years now, and this show is by far and away the best relationship I have ever seen. I want both of them as friends.
Also the manga has amterial for like 2 more seasons and its still going.

3:37 the exact opposite from Horimiya - here we have Wakana who isn't scared of horror movies, being much more interested in the practical part and Marin, who's terrified next to him 😂
7:20 it's really beautiful, how Wakana understood Marin's point of view, enjoying something even if you can't personally do it.
9:40 this is peak romcom/slice of life anime - you'll see the "festival" part in plenty of other titles and it's always incredibly wholesome and romantic.
15:35 the best part of the episode being in the post credits scene, you love to see it.
16:14 now you realize just how spoiled we've been by Horimiya - with the protagonists actually being a couple, instead of the typical "will they, won't they" or ending on an "emotional cliffhanger" like this.

Yeah, I hate the drawn out stupid tension every other show goes for. This was the most real thing I have ever seen in ANY genre in my entire life. The weird odd chance that threw them together and sparked a need to hang out, which led to talking and honest getting to know each other without any pressure. In a way that both could be themselves. The natural progression of needing to spend time together turning into wanting to spend time together. Everything builds exactly like it really would over a summer for a budding friendship turning into the realization that there is more there. He wouldn't get within a foot of her in episode 2, nearly made himself sick over just getting her measurements, now he's carrying her, her body pressed against him as she snuggles down.
I hope they watch Boku No Kokoro, ....
So there is a second season coming out. We don't know when it's supposed to be coming out. Come out next year, come out next 2 years. But we don't know when it's coming up
