We woke up around 5am to make breakfast in hopes of making a quick 30-minute scooter ride south from downtown Cozumel to the miles of pristine white-sand beaches known as Playa Mia. This was our second time to Playa Mia. The idea was to arrive before it was too hot, and the crowds of people started to arrive. The scooter ride along the coast had no traffic and it was extremely refreshing. The 30-minute ride went by very fast. Once we arrived, Sophie took off running while kicking up sand the entire way in excitement. She loves the feeling of sand between her paws. As always, we both had an absolute blast! The water along Playa Mia has no rocks, unlike the northern side of the island where we live, which makes it much easier on the feet. It also makes it much more enjoyable for Sophie to be able to freely run on the soft sand without having to worry about her next step. Playa Mia is our favorite beach so far on the island and we’ve been to a lot of them in our 1.5 months of living on the island.
If you ever visit Cozumel, you would be doing yourself an injustice by not visiting Playa Mia, especially if you visit with your pup.
