    My dream job. Making trailers without spoiling the whole movie. It’s a lost art.

    Incredible. I hope one day i get to work in a movie trailer. It is one of the best ways to thrive emotions on people. It seems awesome.

      You can absolutely do it - all these guys started where you are. Make trailers out of your favorite movies. Just do that over and over again; you'll get better and better, and that'll become the portfolio that gets you into the industry.

    I work for some of thier competitors. I am a broadcast engineer, build and design their edit suite and sound bays. I learn a lot just from talking to their editors, ae sound guys and even owners. Love talking with them how they do it. These guys love their art and are really dedicated to what they do. Love working with them sometime even better than working with a live production or a film production. Thanks for this video, I learned a lot again LOL I felt like I just left work after watching this hahaha thanks LOL

    One thing that becomes obvious is after watching a trailer and then watching the movie, you can tell that the trailer was made from either dailies or an early cut because some scenes in the trailer were not in the final movie. Unfortunately if that scene was what caught someone’s interest, they can feel let down with the movie.

    Is there an explanation why studios spoil movie endings? Or basically every single important scene of the film?

    • @Trainrobber
      @Trainrobber  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This usually happens at the hands of less experienced studio execs with mandates from above - but part of a trailer team's job is presenting compelling reasons why plot points should be kept secret (i.e. edits so strong that they don't need to give away too much).

    @Trainrobber Hi, I'm Kunal from Mumbai, India. I'm very interested in learning trailer editing and really enjoyed the intro to your course. I have one question before purchasing: After completing the course and assignments, will I have the opportunity to apply to the studios/agencies you've mentioned, or is this restricted by geography?
    Please let me know as this will help me decide. Thanks!

    Trailer editing seems like such a painful industry to get into. Didn't know in Hollywood studios go to multiple trailerhouses at the same time. You get paid sure, but if you get eliminated it doesn't really move your business forward because you can't really put that on your company resume.

    • @Trainrobber
      @Trainrobber  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The individual editors often do still include these cuts in their reels/portfolios (and, I'm sure, have fun working on them -- even when they're not selected) -- so it's not a waste of effort!

    This was a year ago...
    Idk what the work was like then compared to now...but its been slow and I haven't been employed since Feb =(
    I know we keep pointing out the "passion" in film but for the lot of us still unemployed? Its been hard to keep that passion alive...Just wanted to bring that up for awareness.

    Unfortunately most movie trailers today absolutely suck! They’re simply a barrage and a collage of noise and meaningless images. Trailers used to give you a hint at the emotion and the story. It’s really unfortunate because they used to be a really great art form. Look at the movie trailer to “the shining“… True classic. Now its Noise explosions and a dozen cuts per second.… And you think that makes a trailer? So sad.
