  • Well you've seen the finished model, watch this to see how much customisation was required to turn an AUTOart Koenigsegg CCX into this Koenigsegg CCGT. The model took around 130 hours over a 4 month period with a cost of around AUD$600 for the donor model and all the parts and paint, etc, not including labor to build it!

truly impressive stuff. i've got this exact orange ccx model...i've modified cheaper models before, but would never attempt to try and modify this one, especially how much they're worth now! i paid $150CAD for mine in 2014. props for doing this - can't believe how thorough you are and how crazy your level of skill is...and patience i'm sure...great work.

Wow. Genuinely amazed by this. When you said you'd used an Auto CCX I considered trying it as is love to own this model. However my CCX cost £300GBP, and I don't think I have the level of skill to do it after seeing this. Brilliant mate.

Rob, am I right thinking you've used a CC8S shell to cut up to form various parts along with remoulding the CCX?

Hey rob is it easier to use tamiya expoy or basic putty to make custom parts for model cars?

For major building & shaping of complex or curved parts, I use Tamiya smooth type epoxy putty (2 part) For more subtle parts or molding in I use Tamiya putty white. I also use different thicknesses of plastic sheet to form the basic shape of parts as well, then I add putty to that and as usual, lots of sanding. I will be making a video on how to build wide body flares with an upcoming custom model, but it is 2 models away still, sorry.

Rob, am I right thinking you've used a CC8S shell to cut up to form various parts along with reworking the CCX?

    • @ROBSMODELCARS

No, I did not cut up a CC8S, I used it to get the shape of the rear clam shell vents which is what the CCGT has, the CCGT was based on a CC8S but with CCX lights front and rear, that Is why I started with a CCX, and then changed the rest of the body shape to match the CCGT. This is why all the body mods were so complex on this build.

Yes, I see now I've watched this more carefully. I wanted to convince myself to give it a go as it would be pretty special to have a CCGT like yours in my collection. The more I watch this though the more obvious how much skilled work is needed. Hats off to you my friend. Amazing stuff.

Thanks Ross, when I started the build, I thought it would be pretty simple, but the deeper I got into it, the more I realised that so much more work was required. This model is in my top 3 most difficult builds so far.

I can see why it would be. It must be very satisfying looking at how good it looks and all the work was it though. Like I said, brilliant stuff!
