I am planning to buy VW sharan 1.4 in Japan but I saw your Honda Odyssey MK3. 2.4. This has bigger engine most likely this will consume more petrol but more power. Honda seems underpower with its bigger size. So, VW for practicality and space vs Honda fun to drive. Decision? What do you think?

I'm guessing the the Sharan must be running the 1.4 TFSi? If I remember right that's the Turbo'd and supercharged version. Not sure if they've managed to get 200bhp out of them yet but it's quite a common engine all over Europe. In contrast the 2.4 Vtec is reasonable in power output for the Odyssey. It's far from supercar performance but it's adequate even when fully loaded.
Fuel consumption will be higher in the Odyssey. VW spent years developing that engine and from what I've read scalling up cylinder sizes with turbo and supercharger combos doesn't really work and a 1.4 was the sweet spot that VW engineers found. It's a shame Japan doesn't like Diesel very much as the 2.0TDi variant is pretty good overall.
The two seem to be quite evenly matched when it comes to legroom but I would say I found the ride quality and seats are better in the Odyssey but I think that's more personal choice talking than anything else.
If you are in Japan you wont suffer from lack of parts and knowledge of the Odyssey, in the U.K that is a BIG hurdle because dealers in the U.K didn't get them at all meaning that parts are difficult to source and most mechanics here just look at it and scratch their heads trying to figure out what it is.

@@autofanatica944 Thank you so much for your reply. Great tips. I learn a lot watching your videos especially the Picasso review in which I unfortunately own. I found it very honest with no marketing of whatsoever. I was persuaded by reading the whatcar reviews. I have to sell it when my Sharan or odyssey arrive from Japan. Got 4 kids and my 20 month old kid favourite sit is on the middle of the 2nd row. Unfortunately that seat is the narrow one for Odyssey. I am buying a car from respectmotors from japan. There is not much highline model 2011 at the moment. So I am still waiting for that model to come up so I can bid. But there are hundreds of Odysseys 2008 to 2011 to choose from.

@@autofanatica944 I am still undecided. 1.4 Vs 2.4 is there a significant difference on fuel consumption. MK3 and RB3 are they the same? It seems 2008 to 2011RB3 model are all the same and may get good deal with older model. How much is the tax for odyssey? It is £165 on 1.4 touran. I guess it is the same with Sharan 1.4. and then the parts and maintenance is a disadvantage for Odyssey? My family really hates the leg room of picasso, that is why they want a leg space. They have tried the Sharan when they use taxi, they said it is ok with the fancy Automatic sliding door. I am not sure about Sharan as I haven't drive once. I have tried the Touran 1.4 2011 from Japan, there is a bit of delay but not as bad as Picasso. I can only drive automatic. The Odyssey tick all the boxes in driver's perspective. What do you think?

@@adrian4jc I've heared that the Volkswagen 1.4 turbo engine is quite unreliable

just getting a bit feed up with the flippant narrative - when you showed the 230v power supply - so I'll hang around a bit longer
