Im actually surprised this doesn't happen more often. The Columbia gorge is a force in its own right. I am so sorry for those that lost their family members. My heart break's for you.
It takes EFFORT to flip a Northriver on calm water like that. That boat is capable of deep ocean trips as well as fast rivers. Curious if they left the anchor down or something. I don't think I could flip one if I tried
@@catfishman9516 looking at their website and fishing booker info it’s heartbreaking to see. He seemed like a great guy. Not local to hood river as far as I am aware but I don’t know everyone here. Just know he didn’t go to school here. His eyes when he smiles make him look extra happy and his customers were very thankful for his guidance, so it’s very sad to hear he is gone.
When incidents like this happen, often occupants are sometimes struck on the head by the gunwale as she rolls, often knocking the victim unconscious. Doesn't seem like seven on a boat that size would be a problem.
I windsurf right in that area...ill tell you that that area can get real crazy fast with pretty big swells and there not smooth long rolling swells there monster uneven crunching swells that most defentally flip most boats over real fast...don't matter how goid you think your floaty boat is...im not surprised at all this happened...im real sorry it id... bless those lost.
Hope he's found in good shape🙏
I was with my dad on the columbia in Stevenson in a little aluminum boat when a storm rolled in. Big ol waves breaking over the boat, scary.
My condolences to the family. The Columbia can be so unpredictable.
Omg I haven’t heard of this yet. What time of day did this happen!? It is insane to hear them say, “from hood river.”
Thank goodness they found a witness that watched the plane circling. RIP Captain
that’s the police searching over head.
Was it a guide boat? 7 people on board is a lot of people for a fishing boat
Reel deal guide service. He was only 26, super sad.
It’s typical to have 6-8 people on a guide boat

A huge squall cam through. He was a very educated guide. He knew the water very well.
Wasn't calm water
It wasn't a North River as reported by the sheriffs office after it's recovery, but a River Wild. Hope they sue channel 12 for degrading the brand....
Was camping there last week. Rest in peace
@@SurgeWorld thank you for visiting!
The Captain fought for his last breath to save the six.
Very sad..😢😢
I lost a friend to that river while he was fishing
May I ask what happen?
