I’m from Baghdad as well, came from shia background (jafari) whom my family follows al-sistani, but Al-Hamdulillah Allah guided me to the straight path, Quran, Sunnah and tawheed.

Yes very common although since the Americans came and gave power to the Shia they are suppressed.
Half of Iraqi Arabs are Sunni mostly in the north and west and around Baghdad.
Iraqi Kurdistan are almost all Sunni which is a country within a country.

I came here for the discussion but as someone who has struggles with the correct pronunciation of Arabic letters, it really relieved me to hear that as long as I’m doing my best to pronounce it clearly, I should make it easy on myself.

It’s not permissible to specify one of the family of the prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم with a greeting such as “ peace be upon him/her” because that will lead to exaggeration. It’s better to say , may Allah be pleased with him/her to all companions and the family of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم .

Bukhara was the second capital and centre of knowledge in Islamic golden age in Khilafat
Al-Mansur was not a Sunni or a Shia. The Abbasids were allies and enemies of both as it suited them. He wiped out the Sunni Umayyads. His leading commander was a Shia and then he murdered him because he was afraid the Shia would overthrow him. He persecuted several Imams of the Sunni Madhabs as would his descendants. The Abbassids were in my estimation Mutazila from the beginning.

It's about time the masjid moved to a better location. People shouldn't have to walk through a mini landfill to get to the masjid, its not a befitting place to have a masjid. BarakAllahu feek.

وقال صاحب كتاب أسنى المطالب في أحاديث مختلفة المراتب : حديث : " رأيت ربي في صورة أمرد وله وفرة " أي شعر في رأسه ، وبلفظ : " رأيت ربي في صورة شاب أمرد " . وبلفظ : " يوم النفر على جمل أورق عليه جبة صوف أمام الناس " .

وقال العلامة ملا علي القاري في كتابه الأسرار المرفوعة في الأخبار الموضوعة : حديث رأيت ربي يوم النفر على جمل أورق عليه جبة صوف أمام الناس، موضوع كذب لا أصل له كذا في الذيل، وفي اللآلىء عن ابن عباس رفعه
