One reason it doesn't seem odd might be because India had stronger Anglo-Indian presence and colonial feel closer to 1947. We see that in some of the older 70's movies too, set in the Anglo backdrop.
Why you need to relate a movie to something😂
Just tell me the regions
This was a very cute trailer. Not everyone’s gonna relate to everything and that’s fine lol, people are hating just cause they’ve have issues with nepotism. This is supposed to showcase lives of Anglo Indians, which it perfectly depicts.
Oh really
You know so much about Anglo Indians
Which one of these look like an Anglo Indian to you
Ok anglo indian we dont subscribe to your "pick me" behaviour i'm just like you o my white master.
Why need to relate.. Just watch it as fictional
There is a place called Lovedale that has a tiny rail station and my old school that's over a 150 yrs old called Lawrance School (Lovedale) - I think most of this was filmed at school as I recognised the school building 😊
woah i just looked it up on Google. Extremely beautiful!
Zoya Akhtar said, they filmed in Ooty. So I guess Lovedale has been part of the film as well. Really beautiful place.❤
Archie comics were so common, people who didn't read it,doesn't mean they don't exist in India ,I passed my school from Uttar pradesh in 2013,I used to read in schoollibraries.people forget about Anglo indians,Portuguese catholics,Jews, parsis ,other indian elite adapted British customs who were huge numbers back then that too in British made Hill Stations.lastly it's a fiction show as was riverdale.
Ok white master is happy with your knowledge now don't spread cringe
@@gstarcad7398ur jingoism really helps putting YOUR point across. Trust me u really helped me empathise with ur cause.
the community they are showing is the anglo-indian community. so the fusion works. great reaction as always!
(try looking up places like darjeeling and gangtok, they look very western)
The anglo indian community living in hill stations will relate more to the setting than others.
oh thank god we have people who can say that it can be india lol... i saw a lot people try to see themselves and have connection problem like money heist ( which they so connected to roots of india it got massive success here in india)
Why need to relate.. Just watch it if you want and like the trailer
SO MUCH NOSTALGIA . the comics were so popular in my childhood literally everyone read them
Bro are you being serious or sarcastic, i can't understand
@@abhimanyusinghbaghel6235they are trying harder & harder to look kool in front of there masters
@@abhimanyusinghbaghel6235typical pick me behaviour
The comic was not so famous Very few people read it .
@@gstarcad7398 just because your forefathers are poor dosent mean everyone is ,and i guess you are poor still now
FOR THOSE WHO’s asking why they don’t look like Indian or all set piece don’t look relatable;;;;;;;;;; 1)FIRSTLY students which are shown in the movie are GRAND CHILDREN of EUROPEAN+ Indian + British settlers who were married to a Indian men or women.
That’s why they were all INSANELY RICH and they used to live in SHIMLA. they built a mini city for their families bcz they knew that their life and normal Indians life so different so they don’t want to take backlash from normal Indians.
..
Nd ZOYA AKHTAR has done immense research behind their history so that she can easily adapt ARCHIES on Indian based story.
..
99% AUDIENCE DONT KNOWS ABOUT ANGLO INDIAN HISTORY!
U r right, all the hill stations used to look like this in that era. For example Shillong in Meghalaya used to be very much like some European county before with all those old buildings n even Shimla, Darjeeling etc. Also the people used to dress like that n i know this because I hv seen lots of old photographs n they also converse mostly in English .

I don't know why we need to relate anything to a movie.. Just watch it as fictional if you want to watch it
Love the Archie's. I've read the comics, watched the animated series, and watched Riverdale. Hope they show this in English.
Its so nostalgic guyz... You won't understand....
How India used to be Europe in the 60's...
Only 60s kids will understand..
Yes like we understand Mahishmati from Bahubali. Such realistic there also.
@@Jana_San_SSThat's like comparing Forrest Gump with The Avengers.
havent you read the comics they were so popular in the early 2000s
@@ReligioCritic Neither Bahubali nor The Archies is Forrest Gump, they're both fantasies. You're complaining about a fantasy film based on 60s america because it looks too "european"?
Phir kehne aa jate ho ki Bollywood kuchh original nhi karta
Touch some grass bro...
@arulmittal9161 no maybe except some south mumbai and some big city children no one read this things😅
Maybe just maybe, this is the Riverdale we didn't want but the Riverdale we need.
I don't think they r trying to give any indian perspective on this, its targeting urban elites of india and maybe NRIs as they like to follow every western trends and lead a western lifestyle even middle class in india nowadays especially young generation tends to follow western trends everything from dresses to food
Aah finally someone with a brain, rest are only hating cause of nepo cast.
By that logic even Japanese, Chinese and Koreans are following western trends. We are in globalized world man. In india only architects and designers care about aesthetics the rest of the people are still living in 15 century India. Who stop us making our traditional cloths aesthetically pleasant but our conservatives wont allow it. That's the reason we have lost our soft power supremacy.
If they showed india as if it was poor, then people would start to hate on it for 'trying to present India in a false manner' and if they did something like this it's 'Trying To Promote Western Culture'
😶
@@DSds.. Exactly and because of this mentality people don't want to stay in this country.
@@nikhilnewse3318 Soft power is not just about movies and songs it can be about fashion, cuisine and architecture. Complaining about bollywood is just excuse. American and Korean entertainment industry is far superior to us.
I think this should be well released worldwide..it has nostalgia written all over it for 80s-90s kid..people will love it..the world needs this warm feeling now..
Its Netflix so it is worldwide
@@Ayush-r9v8s everyone can see it..but not many would know it exists outside indian people..one has to know it even exists to search for it..an international release requires marketing that would have pulled in people..
@@Ayush-r9v8seh not really, there ARE some shows or movies that aren't in every country's netflix, like the office uk isn't in indian Netflix
@@SansTheSkeleton_ The international Netflix account has been posting about Archies and they had a special event for it in TUDUM. Its getting a global release.
I really don't understand why this film is released only on Netflix. The trailer looks amazing, especially the aesthetics, and I am sure the story too! This film must be enjoyed in theatres!
It's not good 😅. It lacks many things. It's unwatchable. Visuals are good though.
Yeah the film is too good but this won't work on the big cinema since indians love their shity bollywood movies except the movies with a meaning . The people who have read the archies would definitely love it ❤
@@yashupadhyay440 even if you go to movies like Liger, Adipurush or heropanti, you'll see people praising the movie like how you're praising this shitty film.
@@truth_seeker5 because they love the actors performing the roles in these movies. I don't know any one of the actors in archies but I read the books and I somewhat connected to it the way books were narrated to us and the same the plot of the film was shot. And also if u don't like its ur taste I am not stopping u frm saying anything whatever u wanna say
Zoya as always does the epic work with her film, here is another example. This looks really good.❤️
Suhana khan-debut( SRK's daughter)
Agastya Nanda-debut( Amitabh Bachchan's grand child)
Khushi Kapoor-debut( Jahanvi kapoor's sis)
Aditi Dot-debut(Musician Amit saigal'a daughter)
Mihir Ahuja has worked in movies like Super 30
Yuvraj and vedang are newbies as well and are some kind of influencers if i am correct.
So its Nepotism at its peak. Just saying.
Sounds nepo tastic 😅
@@tiffanykim2773nepotism rocks tho
@@tiffanykim2773 P.S.- I am not just saying this to you but in general and I am just saying this for the sake of the topic. I am not anywhere close to this profession. I am just an audience like you. And believe me when I say. I do not follow any Bollywood-related pages that show where these celebs go etc until it is all over the news.
Now regarding Nepo kids-
if these star kids work right kudos to them (3 of them are not new kids if I am not wrong)if they don't they have to do the same amount of work as anyone. It is eventually us who praise their work or criticize their work. If they repeatedly fail, they will end up being poor actors like some we know.. It's very easy to put them in that bracket. If one has issues watching them, stop watching them, giving any footage to them, or following them on any social media platform simply.. This is show biz and if you like knowing about hereabouts then you will eventually follow star kids to know what they are up to.
When they get to that age and want to pursue in their footsteps, they are immediately canceled just because they are some big name's son/daughter. Businessmen, politicians, doctors, lawyers, etc all do the same if their children want to go into the same field. I agree they get the first breakthrough easily but at the end of the day it is us, the audience who like their work or criticize it. In the end, they have to go through the same pressure of doing it right.
And many nepo kids have eventually done a good job and proved to be great actors/actresses.
Another thing is now in the social media generation, if you have talent you have so many platforms to get seen. Bhuvan Bham is one of the biggest examples.
3rd class acting. 3rd class dancing. 3rd class movie. 3rd class propaganda. 3rd class nepo kids dts all..👉
I agree with Kristen that is has a nice comfort vibe as that of winter season and Christmas season movies 🎉
This is when you know the director camerman and editors are doing great job.. But those actors are enough to destroy it😂
😂😂😂
@@Fe-ironmanright and also its their first appearance so I thin we should just watch them instead of passing judgments
Did you watch the movie already cool guy???
Trailer me hi emotions h, and those who say nepo kids - just look at the performance and its Zoya Akhtar as a Director
People can project all their hatred all they want, everyone’s secretly gonna stream it 😭😭. I, for one, am totally looking forward to it 🙌🏽.
Some shoot were done in my country Mauritius. The park Greenpark was actually our national botanical garden in the north of the country and also waterfall.. Rochester fall found in the south of the country
Zoya akhtar is incredible!! Also to everyone complaining, u do realise that it’s just Indian characters in a fictional place? like ik for a fact u don’t relate to every single Indian movie out there, don’t act dense💀

Comments section is interesting.
Different perspectives. Love them all.
'Made in Heaven' you are watching recently, thats directed by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti
Maybe hill station anglo-indian towns looked like this, because my town is also planned by Britishers and had a sizeable population of anglo-indians, but it never looked like this.
In the 50's hill stations like that Shimla, Mussoorie and even Shillong was like with a large Anglo-Indian population and British culture, fashion and social norms still more dominant.
Even the kingdom in Bahubali were not real. It's called fiction ffs
@@kratebug wow, intellectual.
It’s fantasy and an adaptation of American comic so ofc the aesthetics are closer of 60s USA.
I'm gonna wait for the film and see how it works
Daughter of Sahrukh khan , Suhana khan arrived....wow...she look beautiful and good
I like how a girl whose dad runs a bookstore hangs out and has a fashion sense of millionaire kids
So far i love the music
Felt connected to the archies comic book while watching the trailer
Please do watch "Hum tum", "Hasee toh phasee" and "Shaadi me zaroor aana" ... You'd like these ! 😍
Hey Achara you and Sara Tendulkar (daughter of Sachin Tendulkar) both look alike 😅😊
an honest conversation was made after 9:53 'on that note'
Tbh, except for the fact that it’s being trolled for nepotism it’s actually a very fun looking trailer.
The US Archies adaptation on Netflix is a whole other story 😂 with serial killers and cults and whatnot.. safe to say the OG Archies comics won't be replicated anywhere anytime soon..
TBH think what perhaps irked people were that Zoya got signed for this in 2021 amidst the pandemic when all the star kids were aspiring models or studying and she still chose them all over trained actors. No reported casting calls or big auditions were done either. The kids trained under the guy playing Hiram for a year.
Suhana tries her best here but her height and athletic physique (and fashion designer ambitions) isn't suited to Ronnie's feminine / femme-fatale character. Khushi is a fashionista on Instagram, but actually did okay in a simple girl role here. Agastya was studying and doing charity work when abruptly got turned into a lead actor for some reason... Same with Dot (an emerging singer) cast as Ethel randomly.
Only the kid playing Dilton and Jughead were actual aspiring actors.
Also they set it in 60s India when there was poverty and crisis amidst a real war with China. Setting it in late 70s with the Anglo-Indian community would've been more realistic at least. And without the odd slow dialogue/accents. Even Vinay Pathak (a seasoned theatre pro) overacted a lot here.
Zoya is quite overrated too as a director and often needs a strong star cast for her movies to do well. Has made some boring duds too but ppl forget that..
It looks so good though... looking foreward

Super excited for Archie
Tbh i really did not have any expectations for this but when i watched the trailer i loved it.

Why does the story seems similar to the movie "STEP UP: REVOLUTION" where the lead role's name is "Ryan Guzman" ?
That movie is based on dance too.
Riverdale made me aware about these....
being honest here... just watching it for suhana Khan
yeah, i will watch it on the phone may be or may not watch it.
Archies is nothing but a Bollywood version of Riverdale 😂😂
The kind of vitriol this little movie's generated is scary. "Unrealistic, un relatable'' alright don't watch just ignore it.
Just from the trailer it looks so bad and cringe. Just take some American or European actors why are we taking all Bollywoodiya star kids . This culture and race appropriation is so weird .
@@jyotiradityachoudhury7987You do know that India had a huge Anglo Indian population after British left right ??
@@jyotiradityachoudhury7987 dude ignore it nahi pasand to. School ki compulsory class nahi hai. There're millions of other stuff you can watch. Ek filmmaker kya banata hai wo uss par hai, movies unrealistic escapist hoti hai, Wes Anderson ki movies k jaisi duniya kahi exist nahi karti. In 50s our Indian actors used to play Roman Emperors even Alexander the great on screen, and these guys are supposed to be mere Anglo indians here, the group along with the parsis that are known for there firangi lifestyle. Everything you don't like isn't "cringe", seriously that word's lost all its meaning.
@@nikhilnewse3318 That's because people don't bother watching any movies with poor middle class talented actors. There are a lot of actors like that but no one watches their films.

Who was living in 90s like this india was a dumb mess made by Congress leaders.
Audience has changed people watch movies and series where they can find a little relatebility.
Absolute crap. If thats the case then why indians have cult following for marvel movies , nolan movies , 90s jackie chan movies , japanese anime , European Netflix shows, k dramas etc etc etc.
People are just fed up with the propagandas of bollywood , same 3-4 faces in every bollywood movie , uninteresting boring story writing and cringe.
Why the downvotes on reaction? Thats strange.

Just watched kristen live on IG..,she rocked that blanket..
I watched the 1/2 of movie and i couldn't watch it full. I am one of those who would watch bad movies fully just to know the whole concept. In this movie i already knew what was gonna happen because i could predict half of the thing already. The concept and theme is so fluffy and comical but the delivery is so dull and pale. It was supposed to uplift mood but it felt more like when will this part end and next thing start up. Makes me wonder who they are targeting. If it is Kids then it goes above their head, if it is teenagers then no these kinds of films are not watched by them, young adults ? No then Adults?? IDK maynn.... I mean lazy Khichdi writing, bad delivery from cast, dull presentation, only thing good was the concept idea and the show set amd the Visuals !!!
Great trailer
