Do you really think it wouldn't get bigger? Since watermelon plant can produce up to 2 or 3 fruits don't you think it's better and especially for commercial purpose,?

      Even locally grown watermelon in 120 degree heat tasted the same as the grocery store.
      The only difference is that now I have a memory and an emotional attachment to watermelon. But that supermarket melon hits the same.

      that does not help. and once the watermelon plant reach maturity, the plant will eventually die off due to fungus

    Our plant in terrace garden produced 4 baby watermelons. But two dried away. The other two grew up to the size of big apples, afterwards stopped growing and became yellow . Heart burning experience. Pls. tell me where I went wrong.

    • @TonysExploration
      @TonysExploration  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to do self analysis....depend of which cultivar.. normally I only kept one melon per plant to focus all the energy to single fruit. Also the mosaics virus carry by Whitefly also can cause stunted growth....the last is check the pH..sometimes yr soil can provide all nutrient...but the wrong pH prevent the nutrient uptake. gardening is always about....soil pH and pest management. You get these two right, you almost win the battle

    • @fathimabegum6442
      @fathimabegum6442 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I too kept one per plant and pinched the tips . As u said I should check pH and do the need.

    I have several plants growing in doors. I put 2 outside April and only one made it as it was too cold. Do you think its safe to put more watermelon plants outside now?

    • @TonysExploration
      @TonysExploration  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the soil temperature warm enough and reach 70F , then is good for outdoor. I live in zone 11b , so I don't have this issue

    I'm growing watermelons in a pot I have too so far but I can't quite see what you're pinching off what are you trimming back

    • @TonysExploration
      @TonysExploration  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason i pinch off the side shoots and trim back the tips of the main stem( after fruit setting) is to focus all the energy to the fruit

    • @TonysExploration

      That is very subjective, depending on the weather, the golden rule is keeping it moist.

  • @SeowLikeMeow
    @SeowLikeMeow 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Would it be better if you get the whole plant on a trellis so water can run off instead of pooling? Of course you'll also need a way to offset the weight of the watermelon. I've heard of people using fruit nets and even nylon stocking. Hahaha.

    • @TonysExploration
