Hey Terry. Heads-up Satechi has a dock coming for the M4 Mac Minis that integrates right into the look of the case, and gives you an SD card reader, an enclosure for a drive, etc.. Great video, as always.
I have the m4 mini, but I haven’t finished fully setting it up yet… However, coming from a late 2012 iMac, this joint is light years more advanced and I love it so far…lol
I’m glad! I had a mid-tier desktop PC with a good GPU and CPU. I got the Mac mini because I saw its power and could do everything I wanted, plus use less electricity. Selling my old PC was a good choice; I can experience the Mac mini while doing the same workloads as my desktop, using x10 less electricity.
@@Guilla4Life Not sure who you are asking this but for me I already had a monitor, keyboard and mouse as I had a desktop pc. so for me I just had to spend the 1.4k and be done as I got the base m4 pro chip version.
I'm planning on ordering my M4 Pro mini in two weeks, probably the base model. I already have a Thunderbolt 4 enclosure and 2 TB SSD coming for it. Hearing your user's experience helps us decide which model/configuration to buy. I think Steve Jobs would be calling this Mini "Insanely great!"
first time viewer. Good review. I wanted to comment on the videography of this video. Your color grading is Spot on perfect. I am watching on a 32" 4K QD-OLED that is Calibrated. The depth of field is perfect. Good stuff man. Your camera is very good.
GOD I love his set up with the plants everywhere it's so lively and lovely! If I ever get a new place Im for sure doing something for my set up like that so beautiful!
Almost bought this exact configuration this morning, but since I still have more game to develop before I try to port it to Mac, I'm going to wait for the M4 Studio reveal. Glad you like it, I've heard it's a beast.
Thanks Terry, especially telling us what you use it for daily. I see all these videos, stress testing it, comparing core usage with different programs, running tests etc.... Itz nice just to hear real-world useage from someone that does similar stuff , that you can trust :)
Considering ordering mine... I think the sweet spot for futureproofing would be M4 Pro with 14 Core CPU & 20 Core GPU, 64GB Memory & 1TB SSD for $2,399. I agree the one issue is the lack of an SD card slot. Other than that its pretty impressive
Great video thank you! Right to the point and specific to your needs without the fluff. I got an external enclosure for a 4TB drive to skip the storage limitations. Was waiting for an update to the mac mini and this is just fire. I think this will change a lot of people's abilities. What an opportunity to code and create!
That aux issue you were having is called a ground loop noise. That isolator was lifting the ground to get rid of that noise. The Mac mini probably has different grounding or is plugged into the same power source
Great video I enjoyed the fact that you really explained your own workflow and what you normally use and how this makes a difference for your style. I do similar work like you do and this is the first computer I've bought to upgrade my setup in over 10 years and I'm looking forward to getting it. I ordered the M4 Pro with 1TB internal and 64GB storage I suspect this computer will last for 7 or 8 years going forward.
I wanted to switch over to a mac mini m4 base model for my wedding video editing. I currently use a built pc with an amd 5900x and amd 7800xt gpu. My 4k files during editing is amazing and rendering times are fast. So I bought my wife a mac mini m4 base model for her wedding photography. I decided to test my pc against her mac mini using davinci resolve and filmora 14. I ran the same edit on both computers and the editing part of the test was the same. I didn't see any difference. However, the rendering/export times on my pc are twice as fast. Of course, my pc is not as efficient, 10x heavier and more expensive. The base model mac mini is a BEAST for it's size, price, and efficiency.
You wish haha, AI enthusiast would cream themselves if they could get their hands on a terabyte of ram. A lot of people underestimate it, if you got the money but don't have millions apple computers are amazing for ai stuff as you can spend around 3-4k to get LOADS of ram while the gpus with the same amount if ram are 6k or more per.
I am on the fence Mac Mini pro wise, very tempted, but curious as to what the Mac Studio M4 will offer and its price point will be. I guess I will wait until April 2025 and then make a decision. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Terry.
Good review bro I appreciate that you broke it down for the photographers and not everybody else I was on the face of Binas and I'm going to get it in a month or so thank you a lot
Here, the M4 pro with 20c GPU and 1TB SSD is not available. Can not be ordered. Maybe just a mystery. I took the basic variant with 16c GPU and 512GB now. Just investigating for external and faster TB5 SSDs cases.
Still not sure whether to choose the M4 Mini - 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD or the M4 Mini Pro - 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD. I’m not worried about storage, as there are plenty of options for external SSDs, but I’m still unsure if 24GB RAM in the Mini Pro is enough for video editing and After Effects. The Pro version doesn’t offer 32GB RAM; the next option is 48GB RAM, which costs €500 more.
Terry - Good overview. I agree w your idea to escape the MacBook Pro setup constantly. Have a M4 Pro Mac mini for editing w/ DaVinci Resolve. Keep great prosumer reviews coming.
All the same. I have an M1Max MBP, fully loaded. It still works great (photography, video editing, web & print design), but I was also getting tired of issues with my dock and hub when I wanted to use it at my desk. I was thinking about getting a Mac Studio but was waiting for the next upgrade. Enter the M4 Mini. After doing a price/performance comparison, I decided getting an M4 Pro Mac mini was the way to go. I got 48GB RAM and maxed out the chip because at $200, in for a penny in for a pound. Getting the fastest version and the TB 5 helps with the future-proofing. After using it now for almost 3 weeks, I love this computer and have absolutely no regrets about not getting the Mac Studio. I haven't run any significant performance tests but it definitely feels zippier (technical term) and stays cool.
Gr8 video. I'm trying to get enough courage to switch from Windows to Apple, so it's great to know what to expect. Love the colour of your wall. Please provide the Colour code.
Did you have any issues with missing Final Cut features? I have a M1 Mac Mini and never had access to all the Audio features in Adobe Premiere. I purchased it in 2022 so Im sure the issue is resolved now, but I just wanted to ask.
Thank goodness for this, I’m traveling constantly and was looking for a travel computer for work with enough power for any kind of photo stuff I need to do, / art stuff + video games, streaming etc
I got the M4 Pro fully maxed out (including 8TB SSD) and have had nothing but problems, all of which have had to be passed up to Apple engineering to address. Unable to make/receive phone calls plus another I don’t recall until they get back to me.
Thank you. Can I ask if you have anything to say about the Thunderbolt 5 connections as something you will use, and do would you spend an extra $100 for the 10 GB ethernet? Thanks for making an honest video.
Do you run Adobe Lightroom Classic on it? How does it perform with 24GB? My current Mac does not support Adobe Lightroom anymore and I've had to run it on PC. It has 32GB of memory which is way too little, as just opening the largest photos takes 90GB of memory. The raw files are 187 megapixels and the film scans are way larger than that. I've been thinking of getting the M4 Pro with 64GB of memory, but I fear it's going to choke as well. That would mean buying a similarly priced PC (almost 3k€ in Europe) and having all the trouble I've had with Windows. I wish Apple had a reasonably priced option with 128GB of memory.
Don’t worry Terry 99% of the people out there are not doing 3-D rendering or any other horse shit that you talked about. Most of us are like you just doing video editing from cameras and drones.
Awesome vid! But, still trying to decide if an M4 pro is necessary over an M4. I edit sports videos and short films. Are you saying definitely go with a pro?
Great video. Confirms my decision to buy a Mac Mini Pro in the near future with upgraded RAM. Will be moving from a 2017 27" iMac 1TB HD 48 GB RAM. With Luna display via USB-C, I should be able to use my 27" iMac as a monitor saving $$.
I usually edit footage between 1 minute to 10 minutes, cuts, basic color correction and some animated titles. I really don't think it's too much. Is it worth investing in the M4 pro or would it be ok for a while in the M4 basic? saving that 800$ for the future would be a good idea? P.S. I come from windows with AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and 32 of RAM, will the productivity be noticeable?
the buzz is a ground loop, it means that something isn't grounding properly. It could be everything in a bad power strip, or speakers and computers on separate circuits can also cause it. I would start working from speakers back to mac to figure it out. Shouldn't need a dongle like that.
please do me a favor could you elaborate a bit more on your memory pressure and how much swap you use? Say after x number of tabs open and or after opening x number of apps. i'm looking at buying the same config with 1TB SSD. The jump from 24gb to 48gb mem is a bit high frankly...Thanks mate.
As a lifelong PC user, I’m impressed with the Mac mini Pro. My mid-range gaming PC has been amazing! ,but the Mac mini has been a great alternative. Minecraft runs well with shaders, reaching up to 90 Celsius, but other games have been even better. The only reason I chose the M4 Pro chip was Apple’s ability to absorb prices. I initially planned to get the base model, but upgrading the storage to 512GB and RAM to 24GB was sufficient for my needs. Upgrading the base version to reasonable specs would have cost $1000, but for an extra $300, I got the base specs that would suffice and a more powerful chip. I know this Apple strategy works, and I might as well have gotten the M4 Pro since I’m already spending $1000 on a PC. Content creators who say it’s not powerful enough are mistaken. The chip is powerful, and the reason older Max chips do better is due to the chip design, as Max chips have bigger media encoders while pro chips even newer ones just don't.
How’s the RAM utilization? I got almost the same config as you but with 48gb of RAM and 1TB. I was under the impression the Insta360 x4 with the 8K resolution be too much for the base M4 Pro?
The plugin/plug out struggle is real tho. It drains energy, especially when it doesn't want to wake the screen and you gotta constantly open it back up, probably have to unplug the headphones or whatever because some cable is too short. It annoys me so much. I don't reget getting a dedicated desktop, picked up the M4 MacMini Pro (base model). Might check out the Studio if it comes out with a new chip next year, but so far I'm super happy with this MacMini.
Thank you….my gag reflex….is a monitor. I have 2 older iMacs that Apple in their Devine corporate wisdom, does not allow. I do what you do. What monitor are you using or recommend without my buying an Apple 5 K ?
I am devided between the base Mac Mini M4 PRO at $1399 or the Mac Studio M2 MAX Base model for $1799 for photo & video editing and media marketing for clients. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks!
I do the same type of work and was weighing a similar choice. I went with the M4 Pro (I maxed out the processor for the extra $200). It has plenty of power for photo & video. While the SD card reader on the Studio is great, I have a multi-card reader that I use anyway since I use CF and SD cards. I also have a Thunderbolt 4 hub so I didn't need the extra ports in the Studio. The M2 Max might be a little faster but I doubt you will notice the difference in most photo/video applications. The Thunderbolt 5 ports on the Mini help to make it a little more future-proof. I'm thrilled with it and feel I made the right choice for me. Hope this helps.
@@DonCrosslandI think this is the thing. If you are starting from scratch the M2 studio requires less in the way of add-ons docks etc and it is faster for video exporting and some graphical work. The M4 pro will heat up and get noisier under occasional work loads compared to the M2 studio due to the smaller fans and enclosure. The M4 pro will however be faster in Lightroom and everyday use, although to be honest both are probably quick enough. Which brings me back to ports and connectivity… A lot of people are struggling with the same decision, as am I. If you run a studio and work is done all day, get the studio. If you do occasional heavy work the M4 pro is sweet.
The question I have... is that RAM upgradable? I have an M2 Mac Mini and it is the base model. but it is not possible to upgrade the RAM. There are no memory sockets.
No current Mac is officially ram upgradable apart from the Mac Pro tower, and that machine is already a dinosaur regarding the cpu (but not the chassis)
Just get a cheap SD card adaptor and stick it in one of the USB slots. How hard is that? And the bonus is it is still a USB C slot which an SD slot would never be.
Good question on the monitor. I use ProGrade Type B 1TB cards in my Z9, so the missing SD slot doesn't really matter. I have the same MacBook Pro now, M1Max, 64gig Ram, 4TB hard drive, etc. I use that when working from events and my vehicle, but it is a pain to use the small monitor if you don't have to. My 2017 iMac is acting up, so it needs to be replaced. It was good to hear that the M4 Pro mini performs about the same as the M1 Max. The iMac monitors are addictive. Very nice. So I'm not sure which screen to use with the Mini? Thoughts?
My usage of Macs is quite different than yours. FWIW I also went with a M4 Pro Mac Mini. There are external SSD's you can get which are thunderbolt 4 (and soon thunderbolt 5) and which can provide a few USB-A ports and an SD card reader. I just watched a video for one, but now I can't find the link to say which one it was.
Well, I found one which is coming soon from Satechi Mac Mini M4 stand and hub. Expected to arrive in Spring 2025. But it seems to me I came across one from some other company.
I bought the base model M4 Mac Mini on sale for $549 last week and for another $35 got a peripheral hub so I could use my Razer Basilisk mouse and Logitech G713 keyboard that have USB-A connectors. The hub has a SD card reader on it, an extra HDMI port, an audio jack and 1 Power in port. That would solve your missing SD card reader issue.
@ 🤣 My MSI i7 RTX 4070 laughs at your puny POS AMD pc mini! Retro gaming, hah, kid I played all the retro stuff back in the day when those games were new. Instead of bragging about your mini, toy pc, which is kind of embarrassing, you should buy a big boys gaming rig to be able to game modern AAA on Steam with respectable frame rates. Oh and yeah I also love my new M4 Mac Mini for my day to day browsing and music production, and media consumption. This way I don’t need to deal with all the headaches of Windows unless I am in the mood for gaming. So Apple sucks for gaming, that’s no surprise, but it’s better and safer for just about everything else and has less compatibility issues. The Mac Mini can handle video editing software like a champ, can your AMD mini pc handle that? Nope, it’s way too slow! Oh, one more thing, spellcheck is your friend, use it!
Hi Terry, great video and demo of this capable machine. For me a 1TB SSD and 64GB RAM are a must as I process a lot of large Sony 60MP photo files and do a lot of panos and denoising. My ideal machine will cost around $2,500 plus tax but I usually buy them to last at least five years. That comes out to about $45 per month to have a beast of machine. Yes you pay "Apple tax" but it is worth every penny!! I am coming from an M1 Studio Max with similar specs.
@@NirHason Totally possible. When I got my Studio Max, if I remember correctly it was 32GB or 64GB. If they had the 48GB option, I would have opted for that. I want to semi future proof my machines. They have to last me 6-8 years and the way software is going having a little more RAM can never hurt. Apple RAM is relatively resonate unlike their SSD prices that are way out of line. Luckily, we can get an external SSD which is what I have done. I still want 1TB internal as to have room for scratch disk and softwares that are getting bigger and bigger every day.
@ Cool! thanks letting me know. I actually watched it already when you posted it but my memory betrayed me I guess 😂 I ordered the M4P 12/16 48GB 1TB 10Gbps, should arrive 4 week from now 😒
@@TerryWarfield I hear you. I have learned my lessons with Mac. I know they are not upgradeable and I know I keep them for 6-8 years until the next upgrade. Apple SSD prices are unreasonably high but their RAM prices are not that bad. So for me the next Mac will have 1TB SSD and at least 48GB RAM. FYI, I max out my current 64GB RAM as it is now because I have untold windows open in my Safari, maybe 100 or more. I know it is stupid to have that many windows open but I do a Lot of research for my health situation and I need those windows open for quick reference.
I'm on the fringes of picking up a Pro. I'll be bumping the memory an maybe the SSD (Yes, I know I can connect my external SSDs, but I want it all in the box. Simple as that). I kinda half wanna wait for a M4 Max/Ultra mini buuuuuuuuut, I'm not sure I wanna pay those prices. I'd love the power (for heavy hitters such as Blender, Logic, Reason, video renders, Handbrake) , but can't see me pushing 5/6k on the machine. So for me, I may have to cap myself at the Pro.
Yes this is a great time to be in the Market. I have a M2 Mac Studio that I have absolutely NO REGRETS about, simply flies through everything. I wanted a MacBook 💻 for my Travel. I ordered the M2 MacBook Pro a few months ago and cancelled the order because the rumors were swirling on the M4 coming. So glad I waited, I picked up the M4 MacBook 💻 Pro 14CPU/20GPU/48TB RAM/1TB SSD to go with my 2 TB4 4TB NVMe Externals I put together some time back and man this things is simply incredible. I know the M4 Studio will be a monster but at this point if I bought that, it would only be a flex 💪 😂
Unless you are processing Disney cartoon animation, then the M4 Mac Mini base model is just fine. The Apple marketing strategy wants you to upgrade. Ignore them and get the base model.
This was an incredibly useful video. I have an M1 Mini with 16gb memory and a 512gb ssd, which has just started to display the beach ball when editing photos. The entry level M4 Pro is the one I’m considering buying, so this was video was well timed.
Hit the nail on the head. And I'm still loving the 'mouse breathing' comment. LOL. I originally bought the M4 Mac mini (with 24gb mem/512gb SSD) and played around with it. It was a great machine, but after watching all the reviews and benchmarks comparing the Base model to the M4 Pro, I decided to return it and go to the Pro Base model as well. I'm glad I did. I even did a video talking about that over the weekend myself. Could I have done most of what I do on the $599 model? Probably. But with the Pro, I have the headroom to do more than I do now. I'm also sure that it's going to last me a lot longer with the extra power and headroom. So I also do not have buyers remorse. Although I'm in the same boat as you. My only concern is that I didn't get enough memory. But I figure that if I get to the point where that is an issue, I can sell it and upgrade at that time. But for now, this should do me quite well for some time.
@@miki0mrkvica A lot will depend on your usage. But keep in mind, the M4 Pro, also gives you 2 more CPU cores, 6 more GPU cores, Thunderbolt 5 ports in back. Personally I have not had an issues with my M4 Pro with video editing in Davinci Resolve. I'm impressed that the 24gb of memory is sufficient for everything I throw at it so far. I did not rank the SSD space a high priority in the initial upgrade because of the Thunderbolt ports, as I can easily add a much larger drive that way for half the cost that Apple charges. The memory upgrade is your biggest factor to consider up front. Good luck with whatever you choose.
Great video! This really hits home for me. So many people on TH-cam are calling the base M4 Mac Mini a no-brainer for most except for the power users, but I guess I’m more of an outlier. After buying a base M1 iMac a few years ago, I learned the hard way about buyer’s remorse due to insufficient hardware. The measly 8GB of RAM on my iMac has caused constant memory pressure issues and degraded performance from excessive swapping to the SSD. It’s definitely soured what should have been a great experience. As for storage, I can’t believe Apple is still selling base models with just 256GB SSDs-it’s simply not enough. I’m constantly trying to find creative ways to free up space just to install an app or get iCloud to sync again. Not exactly how I planned to spend my creative energy!😄 Getting a system with enough memory is absolutely crucial. With Apple’s new Apple Intelligence update coming in December, I suspect that base 16GB of RAM won’t feel so “ample” anymore. That’s why it’s great to see the Mac Mini Pro base model now offering 512GB of storage and 24GB of RAM-a much more sensible base configuration in my opinion. 😊
When not actively being used, Apple Intelligence on a Mac will generally use a negligible amount of memory, as it primarily operates in the background and only consumes significant RAM when actively processing requests; most reports indicate it will take up a small, static amount of memory, likely less than 100MB, to maintain its readiness for use. But, here is the thing all models of the iPhone 16 - Pro Max have only 8GB of Ram. So, I think people will be fine with 16GB of Ram, for those who think they need more that is the time to buy a Mac with as much Memory as you can afford. :)
@@kevinmiles5770 Thanks for that info on the Apple Intelligence memory. Man, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bounced between the Mac Mini and the Mac Mini Pro in my shopping cart, but the more I look at it, the less real world need I see for the extra cost of the Pro m4 (at least for me.. mainly do development and web browsing) I just can’t substantiate spending the extra $1100 (cad) for the Pro, when the base Mac Mini is such an incredible value that even with the extra I need to spend on an external drive (256gb ssd is too small), the base m4 Mac Mini is becoming the clear winner for my needs. And even if I need to get something better in a years time, I’ll have more money to spare not having invested it all right now.. besides I’m sure this little juggernaut will always make a great support computer on my home network. 😊
anyone in here using their Mac mini 3d rendering and 3d animation my fiancé is into it and im looking to getting her the M4 Pro with 48ram with a 1tb of storage!
Well laid out Video👊. Nice work😎 Question??? I make long form survival/camp vids, nothing over 4k and just in h264. Usually loading about 2-3 hours of footage on my Pc and using Davinci. I have to optimize all the media to get it to even scrub for editing. Upload takes forever and optimizing takes a couple hours. i usually get GPU errors too. Thoughts on swapping to the M4 mini $500 version. I could get some external memory, no issue there. Long question but appreciate your time and vid skills!
I bought an M2 Mini which was on sale at Costco for $499, thinking I would just upgrade later to something more substantial. Then, Costco is now selling the M4 Mini for the SAME PRICE! You b*STARDS!
Sold your Studio Display?! I was actually thinking about replacing my six year old 4K LG monitor with the $tudio Display ever since I got the m4 pro Mac mini. I thought all Apple products worked great together but if you had problems with that monitor then I’ll stick with my old ass LG.
Thanks for the video. I'm cheaper. The week they launched the M4 mini I bought my first Mac. It's a 2015 MacBook Pro i7 Radeon running every music DAW just fine. My PC is a Dell Optiplex 9020. Cheap man.
hahaha three things I need to mention, other then that, good video post. 1/. Try less Caffeine Bro! Unless, you were regulated to a certain amount of time for your video it sounds like you are rushing to tell us what you wanted to say! 2/. Peace and Chicken grease? LOL you got me rolling on the floor with that one. 3/. You stumbled with the amount of Ram you have, you don't have 1 TB of Ram, maybe 1 TB of Storage? hahaha
Most of the tests I've seen with this thing are showing at 16 gigs are actually fine for most tasks. 24 is probably enough for him. Apple uses unified memory slightly differently and you have to remember the previous base model was only 8 gigs.
Why would you put your computer to sleep rather than shut it off and reboot it? I've been in IT for over four decades, and trust me, EVERY device works better after reboot. No device works worse after a reboot, absolutely NONE. And they boot so quickly. So why not reboot every day?
Does it really matter if it works? I’m in IT as well. I work with Linux servers that are only shutdown when there are issues. I work with workstations that if they are ever shutdown it has to be logged and I have to be there to input the bitlocker password at startup.
@ of course I know what it is, Danny boy. And obviously isn’t working well for him in some cases. And it doesn’t work particularly well for many people. Is it against your religion? Have you ever tried rebooting on a regular basis? Oh please don’t…
What up fam! I have owned the M4 Pro Mac Mini for going on two weeks now, and I want to talk about in this video, if I have any buyers remorse after spending $1500 on this computer.

Yep
Had the same noise with my dj computer I just cut the ground prong off an extension cord and noise gone👍
Based on your experience with the 4 Pro, I'll get that one over the regular one. Thanks 👍🏻
You have a terabyte of RAM? Wow. Where did you get that stuff?
Storage.
hahaha, that's what I was sayin'.
He said he was going to mess up, you know he was talking about a SSD😅
What's the adaptor you used in your M1 MacBook to get rid of the buzzing?
I am on the fence Mac Mini pro wise, very tempted, but curious as to what the Mac Studio M4 will offer and its price point will be. I guess I will wait until April 2025 and then make a decision. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Terry.
which screen do you recommend to purchase ( not apple ) which will work perfectly well with a mini 4 . thanks . links if possible ❤
It’s so good. I’m not getting rid of my M1 Max MacBook but you are are correct, it feels snappier and stays super cool
Thank goodness for this,
I’m traveling constantly and was looking for a travel computer for work with enough power for any kind of photo stuff I need to do, / art stuff + video games, streaming etc
I got the M4 Pro fully maxed out (including 8TB SSD) and have had nothing but problems, all of which have had to be passed up to Apple engineering to address. Unable to make/receive phone calls plus another I don’t recall until they get back to me.
What monitor are you using?
Your video quality is amazing! Do you have a video how you edit your contents?
Zve1 the GOAT
Perfect timing on finding this video. Thanks!!!
1tb of ram???? What macbook M1 is that?
How’s the RAM utilization? I got almost the same config as you but with 48gb of RAM and 1TB. I was under the impression the Insta360 x4 with the 8K resolution be too much for the base M4 Pro?
Hi Terry, what speakers are you running there?
where do you want the SD card reader?
If you want an SD card slot get one of the new docs that are coming out for this thing. They are absolutely sick and they can also hold nvme storage
Which brings me back to ports and connectivity…
A lot of people are struggling with the same decision, as am I.
If you run a studio and work is done all day, get the studio.
If you do occasional heavy work the M4 pro is sweet.
Get a Satechi USB Hub for the new mini. It has the CF/SD ports you are looking for. Problem solved.
Does the SD card slot matter when a lot of high end cameras have CF Express cards?
Thoughts?
Super informative and much appreciated video. Thank you.
What kind of monitor is that ?
What is this adapter. I need it for my Mac mini 2018. Terrible buzzing when no audio plays. When audio plays buzz goes away.
I need it for my M1 Max MacBook Pro too. It's super annoying.
@ I placed an order for some clip on ferrite cores in different sizes. And an adapter named ground loop isolator. Will give it a try when it arrives.
Oh, one more thing, spellcheck is your friend, use it!
souunds like a mouse breathing......love it!
How do 4k export times compare on the mini m4 pro compared to the m1 max?
Hi Terry, great video and demo of this capable machine. For me a 1TB SSD and 64GB RAM are a must as I process a lot of large Sony 60MP photo files and do a lot of panos and denoising. My ideal machine will cost around $2,500 plus tax but I usually buy them to last at least five years. That comes out to about $45 per month to have a beast of machine. Yes you pay "Apple tax" but it is worth every penny!! I am coming from an M1 Studio Max with similar specs.
Not possible to edit 60MP photos with 48GB?😊
Watch the stress test after this video. I exported 400+ 61mp photos with no problem
I actually watched it already when you posted it but my memory betrayed me I guess 😂
I ordered the M4P 12/16 48GB 1TB 10Gbps, should arrive 4 week from now 😒
@@TerryWarfield I hear you.
Great stuff, nice review Terry. Im curently happy with my my PC setup, but this little M4 has made me think about switching to the Dark Side :)
Don’t blame me for it lol
Is mac m4 enough for Photoshop and Pureref with thousands of photos?
Check out the stress test in the end card. It really shows you how capable it is
I'm on the fringes of picking up a Pro.
LOL, I can tell you're excited but you don't have 48TB of Ram you have 48GB of Ram maybe? :)
Wait how'd I'd miss that Artlist has LUTs now? Got that Max plan already. Yoooo, gotta check those out.
You should make video of things you had buyers remorse on and the reasons why you didnt like the product.
It’s a huge upgrade
Don't forget as you fill up your SSD, that will cause your beach-balls on the Mac as well.
What is your speaker set up?
They look like Edifier R1280DBs. On sale at Amazon during Black Friday.
Gianni❤
Fan sounded like a mouse breathing 😂 hilarious.
Not sure what to choose between the M4 Mini - 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD and the M4 Mini Pro - 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD?
Attitude of gratitude!
Not exactly how I planned to spend my creative energy!😄
Getting a system with enough memory is absolutely crucial.
My M2 pro mac mini worka great for my wordflow, I cant find a good enough reason to upgrade.
Yikes, Dude. Sorry to hear it. But thx for the warning.
Cool and honest info ... thank you !!!
i have this and i love it!
anyone in here using their Mac mini 3d rendering and 3d animation my fiancé is into it and im looking to getting her the M4 Pro with 48ram with a 1tb of storage!
Your experience would be so much better on Mac as we have dedicated media encoders/decoders that make easy work out of heavy h.264/265 files
@ Awesome man thanks for taking time to answer questions and keep dropping bombs on all the trolls out there!
wow. wait for the M4 Max Mac Studio if your not happy. $2500 out the door with 64gb of memory. boy some of very picky.
return period is jan.8 even if you pre-ordered; I came to find out.
Yep. Extended holiday returns
@@TerryWarfield i returned the pro, but it did handle 3 monitors better. i just couldnt get past 30% cpu usage lol
I bought an M2 Mini which was on sale at Costco for $499, thinking I would just upgrade later to something more substantial.
Then, Costco is now selling the M4 Mini for the SAME PRICE! You b*STARDS!
Why did you sold studio display? 😮
It's not cheap, but when I unpacked it and turned it on I forgot how much it was. It's a great monitor
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Click bait title if ever there was one.
Guess it worked lmao
... a Terabyte of RAM??
Sold your Studio Display?! I was actually thinking about replacing my six year old 4K LG monitor with the $tudio Display ever since I got the m4 pro Mac mini. I thought all Apple products worked great together but if you had problems with that monitor then I’ll stick with my old ass LG.
I just wanted something that could do editing and high end gaming. So I sold it for a ROG PG32UCDM
Great content, new sub here!
1:27 A TB of RAM? That doesn’t sound right, or even possible. Are you sure?
I think he meant 64 gb RAM and 1 TB SSD
@ yeah. I know. I was being facetious.
Thanks for the video. I'm cheaper. The week they launched the M4 mini I bought my first Mac. It's a 2015 MacBook Pro i7 Radeon running every music DAW just fine. My PC is a Dell Optiplex 9020. Cheap man.
what is that device that stopps your buzz?
Tight shirt Terry 😅. Did you hear Floss calling you out for a charity boxing match?
Yeah 😂😂😂. That’s my dawg
hahaha three things I need to mention, other then that, good video post. 1/. Try less Caffeine Bro! Unless, you were regulated to a certain amount of time for your video it sounds like you are rushing to tell us what you wanted to say! 2/. Peace and Chicken grease? LOL you got me rolling on the floor with that one. 3/. You stumbled with the amount of Ram you have, you don't have 1 TB of Ram, maybe 1 TB of Storage? hahaha
This video was very helpful. Seriously considering jumping away from Windows to Mac. I’ve been looking hard at this same Mac Mini.
Bless up
1:56 amen
I think you took a big L by only getting the 24GB of RAM.
Most of the tests I've seen with this thing are showing at 16 gigs are actually fine for most tasks. 24 is probably enough for him. Apple uses unified memory slightly differently and you have to remember the previous base model was only 8 gigs.
Looked hard at these, then built myself a PC with the ryzen 7800xt in a mini itx case. Pretty nice!
Why would you put your computer to sleep rather than shut it off and reboot it? I've been in IT for over four decades, and trust me, EVERY device works better after reboot. No device works worse after a reboot, absolutely NONE. And they boot so quickly. So why not reboot every day?
I have my macbook since 2014
I have never shut it off, and till this day, it is working absolutely fantastic.
Does it really matter if it works? I’m in IT as well. I work with Linux servers that are only shutdown when there are issues. I work with workstations that if they are ever shutdown it has to be logged and I have to be there to input the bitlocker password at startup.
"four decades"
@@cliffordmcgraw8444 As is standard in the real world of computers. @jnoreman is just missing a lot.
@ of course I know what it is, Danny boy. And obviously isn’t working well for him in some cases. And it doesn’t work particularly well for many people. Is it against your religion? Have you ever tried rebooting on a regular basis? Oh please don’t…
I’m do some video editing 4k so is it good?
