What pritviraj chauhan did was absolute blunder. But even if he captured n killed ghori, there will some other turkic rule in future who would some how defeat some indian king n establish their Islamic empire. Bcz Islamic invaders kept invading india since 8th century, n indian kings kept repelling. So it was jus a matter of time when an indian king does a blunder n they win n conquer. Ghazni won several times but he didn't intended to rule.

Visionary in the sense that both islamic and christian kings/rulers converted a large number of people and forced them to join the army, these kings or rulers were never directly involved in battles, but they always had very huge armies which involved lakhs of converted muslims or converted christians.

He never forgave him, they fought twice at Tarain. He won the first one and after the first battle of Tarain, he chased Ghori for sometime to try to capture him, but the chase went on for more time as Ghori's horses were fast enough to avoid capture. Prithviraj stopped after sometime because if he continued chasing Ghori, he would pass the fort of Sirhind, and Sirhind was under Ghurid control. Had he continued long enough, he would be chasing an enemy while having enemy forces behind his back (Sirhind) and Ghori could trap him, so he decided to stop.
And from Prithviraj's point of view, it makes sense, he defeated an enemy, and that enemy is fleeing, he could chase and capture him, but it would put his army at risk and possibly lead him into a trap, so he stopped, and there was already tensions with other neighbours like the Chandelas, Paramaras etc.
People who say Prithviraj let Ghori free are trying to defame the Chauhan king.

He didn't let him go. He chased their retreated army for about 40 km and wounding and killing some of them. When Ghori saw his army losing he joined the battle and faced with one of Rajput warrior who was on Elephant. Muhammad threw spear at him breaking his teeth; in return that warrior attacked Muhammad with his own spear barely knocking him out and wounding siriously. But he was saved by one of his body gaurds and the body gaurd took him on his own horse and started to take him away from battle field. Seeing that whole army started to retreat. But Rajputs were unable to capture them due to their swift cavalry and mobile army. Due to Rajput's advantage of numbers and first strong charge and close combat expertise Ghori's swift and quick Turkish cavalry was unable to move and use its advantages because they were the one who holder Rajput's in center and managed withstand their strong charge. Also Ghori's force were unable to charge cannons too for same reason. He underestimated Rajput power and number.

Prithviraj never forgave Ghori coz he never captured him in the first place.... In the first battle of tarain the ferocity of the Rajput Attack shocked the Turkish army with many units starting to flee to salvage the situation Muhammad Ghori charged at Govindraja the governor of Delhi and Prithvirajs vassal and hurled a spear at him which broke the latter's teeth undeterred Govindraj hurled a massive javelin at Ghori which seriously wounded him and he was saved by one of his Khilji bodyguards who spirited him out of the battlefield. Pritviraja army then captured Bhatinda after a six month siege but soon Ghori returned and recaptured Bhatinda and then advanced on to Delhi culminating in the second battle of Tarain. Had Pritviraja captured Ghori he would surely have had him executed him like he did with his cousin Nagarjunas ( younger son of Pritvirajas Uncle Vighraraja who preceded Someshwar Chauhan Pritvirajas father and captured Delhi ) supporters when he revolted against pritviraja and took the fort of Gudapur . Pritviraja marched against his cousin besieged the fort and then defeated him. He had the rebels all beheaded and had their heads hung up on the battlements and gates of the Taragarh fort of Ajmer as a message for future rebels ...... so much so for forgiving and letting his enemies go!!!! I wish Mr Chavda had read and researched some real history instead of harping on a discredited tale of magnanimity and honour!!!

Truth is we don't know for sure, but what we do know is Prithvi Raj Chouhan in a year did increase his army and his territory and even tried tried to make Jai Singh (which too lost to Ghori later) his ally but failed. Historian say that he lost due to saddle (a technique of rotating cavalry) used by Ghori in the second battle. But Prithvi Raj Chouhan was a hero because he tried everything.

@nirlipta devi Khwaja Chisti whose majar is there in Ajmer he was the one who asked Sanyogita to convert and marry one of the Muslim generals. She refused and was tortured and raped by their army. This story is told by the Muslim Clerics of Ajmer Sharif Dargah. It is passed as folklore among them. They even write this story in the pamphlets distributed to people visiting the Dargah....

There's a Prithviraj Chouhan in all of us Hindus, at least in majority of us. We keep on repeating the same mistake again and again when we can't afford a single mistake in front these Mlechhas from the deserts of Arabia. The government of India is sending food to the Afghanistan right now. Like seriously? We gave away our ancestral lands of Pakistan and Bangladesh and let 9% Muslims stayed back in India. Why? Babri demolition led to riots all over country but did we Hindus do anything in response to Kashmiri Hindus Exodus? Hundreds of Temples demolished in Pakistan and Bangladesh in response to Babri but do we ever response to persecution of Hindus in Islamic countries?
