Jon! We demand this becomes a full playthrough! I'd love to see you play through the entirety of RE4, especially with all the new additions & changes this remake brings. Also; you can just shoot the dynamite in their hands whilst they're holding it to make them explode rather than shooting to stagger them until it goes off. You also don't always have to stab enemies after round-house kicking them if you see they've already dropped loot indicating they're dead. You'll see a prompt to stab them if they're not dead-dead.
In terms of the kick killing most of the time, for me at least it rarely seems to actually kill and just gives some breathing room for whatever you do next(shoot, stab, reload, etc). Only real way to know it kills though is the squelch sound though from what I played in taking a generous 20 hour full playthough(lot's of trying to 100% it) on standard.
The bolt thrower is more valuable than most players of the old game realize. It's not a main combat weapon, but it's great at clearing out an enemy or two to allow you more sneaky routes through some of the more complex areas, and the re-usable ammo means you aren't burning through resources while exploring for more resources.
that beginning was lowkey amazing though, the atmosphere and ambiance, the new area that immediately thrust you into unfamiliar territory, the immediate headthing which immediately brings a sense of panick because youre so not ready for that, the immediate realization that you now have like 4 bullets. and then even after the intro the immediate opportunity for stealth, the snide new almost 'we knew what youre up to' window, the cow man. the way they animated the pitchfork charge. in so many ways they made it clear you may know the general beats, some things may be more convienent or easier but you are not safe and i legit gasped at several moments here
Watching this right after his original RE4 run is such a joy, especially when you see Jon's old strategy of getting the shotgun > Running into the holdout room no longer works. Seeing him turn around and notice an new window in there was a beautiful moment. Capcom totally knew what they were doing XD
I hope this becomes a full gameplay! I never played the original, but i watched my sisters play them, so it's still endearing to me. I hope to see more from you!
Idk what Jon is on about. The lesson I learned was shoot in the leg (not the head lol), they stumble, give em a kick, liberally apply knife until they bubble. Also there is something just perfect about the bear trap placements it seems. I finished a request from the merchant, Leon screamed "YES!" and before he'd finished that breath, I walked into a bear trap elemayo.
You have to be VERY precise with your shots in this game, especially on Standard difficulty! It takes a bit of time to get used to the combat but once you get it, it's fine!
I feel you Jon, at the end there. There is something off about it. For me personally, I think it's the combat. The combat, somehow feels more clunky and awkward than the original. I think part of it is Leon's weirdly heavy and weighty movement, though on top of that I also think the aiming just feels awkward at times. And the greatest sin they committed with this remake was, absolutely, the fact that the shotgun no longer really works as the, 'I win against this mob' button. The fact the shotgun can't knock down 10+ Ganados with one blast anymore hurts my soul, deeply. It also hurts me that buying capacity upgrades for an empty weapon no longer gives you a full magazine of free ammo. I don't know why they removed that, it was a cool and neat trick. It makes me sad.
I’m waiting for the game in which you play the detective investigating the murder of a whole village of “innocent” people… because Leon is causing more murders than a bus full of seriel killers.
Resident Evil Stealth is just cursed. They have perfectly normal, reasonable lives then this wise-cracking serial killer in a bomber jacket stabs them. Like, That wasn't an ambush, there were just some dudes talking and you shot one, then went on a stabbing rampage.
I love how I think to myself that just stuffing any old gems into a necklace with no regard for aesthetics would hurt me, and literally *right* after that I find out that there's a system rewarding you for putting in gems in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.
I like the audio glitch that happens with the merchant where he sounds super robotic and just like Princess Leah in Return of the Jedi when she poses as a bounty hunter to rescue Han.
Everyone I've seen play this have all said the same, at the same moment "Say the line, say the line. Is he going to say the line? He needs to say the...There it is! Yes!!!" Having never played any of the games, I love how much some very little things mean to so many.
I am looking forward to the next part of this. THis feels like the type of game I wouldn't really like playing myself, but it's very entertaining watching someone else play it.
Has anyone told Jon you can parry melee attacks now? INCLUDING THE MOTHER FING CHAIN SAW! I don't know HOW you parry a Chain saw with m95 Combat knife but hay, THAT IS BADASS!
Jon, the most efficient way to deal with beartraps is not taking the time to watch the whole trap animation, its just poking it with your knife at zero cost. That being said, I formerly request a series of this. Finished it today and it was a lot of fun. Starting professional mode, and its kicking my ass
Repost huh? That just means we get to watch Jon get chainsawed again in the remake. The game looks incredibly amazing! I haven't played the original before, but I've seen enough to know that it's a great game. So this remake is already incredible.
Man, once you know what the game wants you to do the opening village assault is amazing. But until you figure it out it just feels like your playing the game wrong and don’t know what to do.
After jumping headfirst into Hardcore...yeah, they figured out how to make this "survival" horror again. That's how you remake a perfect game. I'm armed with grenades, shotgun, magnum....and I'm still on edge cause all the enemies are a true threat.
I am not saying I play Fallout 4 too much but when Jon got the guy that caused the rocks falling, I thought, 'Jon, he had a machete, an upgrade from the knife, loot the body'. Jon makes these games fun to watch and almost makes me want to play them. I know it's a couple years too soon for a new F4 run, but any chance of a new Civ6 run with all the new leaders?
RE4 was a strange one for me. I loved the originals, played RE1/Directors Cut enough to make my own speed running guides for both characters. I loved RE2 and Nemesis as a "filling out" and continuation of that story. I found Code Veronica X a bit clunky, honestly, but still a superb title. RE4... I guess I wasn't keen on the action bent, and the camera change. I played it once through only. It was fantastic, sure, but it did not bring me back again and again like its predecessors had done. So I do not remember a lot of RE4, I mostly remember Ada's mission honestly, and that damn crocodile boss you fight while on a rowing boat.
No relationship at all to RE. But even i remember there was quite a bit noise about it at the time being very actiony. Interesting how time can make controversies into nostalgia. And how even time has no chance in hell to get me to play a shooter-like with a controller (7:35) . I wonder if it's worth taking a look now. Unlike in the other remakes they blunted of a lot of edges only a (nostalgic) mother could love. And that includes very much inventory Tetris and the annoying save system and controls and UI and completely idiotic door system... I guess that is blasphemy and about all, REAL fans loved about the pure remasters.
I do appreciate you cutting out the girl getting brutally killed at the very beginning of the opening cutscene. I saw that on someone else's stream of this game and it was... pretty brutal.
Well, some of the stuff you parry in game... But it's a gameplay thing, not a realism thing. Durability allows them to add grab counters and finishing downed foes without having it be too powerful, because it uses resources.
So back before this came out, a streamer I mod for played the original and my thought was it would be cool if they played with Leon knowing Spanish because it feels more than a bit incompetent to send him to rural Spain on his own if he doesn't speak the local language. So have Leon speak Spanish, but it's American High School level Mexican Spanish while everyone in the village speaks like Catalan or Basque.
I can't wait for the day that Capcom realizes that people know that when they don't have weapons there safe.... then decide to mess with players and make them attackable BEFORE they give them weapons just to up the tension that much more going forward lol
In case you were curious, this is the second version of this video - the original was unlisted due to a small audio error.
I clipped the mysterious stranger part to show my friend and can still access the "secret unlisted video"
I'll never forget the unlisted version, RIP small audio error. you will be saved in a secret playlist of mine to be never viewed
Well time to watch it again to help it in the almighty algorithm
I thought I heard a small blip in the previous one. I just thought my headphones were going faulty.
Poor thing had to buy the Pit DLC.

The last one definitely isn´t the case. But most of the time I see a prompt to finish them off quickly.

@@johnyshadow That's what I meant, apologies for the confusion, I could've worded it a lot better. I'll edit it now. Thanks!
I want Jon to do this as a play through. Not a livestream series, but an actual play through.

Jon: "One new thing is Leon has learned a little bit about property law"
Leon: *proceeds to illegally enter a strangers home*
He apologized for entering, and asked if the resident had seen his escort. Not too bad on his part.

We 100% need an entire series or a series of livestreams of this game. We have to see Jon do a full playthrough of this game
8:15 My favorite thing that Jon does in videos sometimes is when he becomes a real estate agent.
I can tell you, the devs did their spanish homework at least.
Edit: Full playthrough please Jon.
Watching this right after his original RE4 run is such a joy, especially when you see Jon's old strategy of getting the shotgun > Running into the holdout room no longer works.
Seeing him turn around and notice an new window in there was a beautiful moment. Capcom totally knew what they were doing XD
What I love about Jon is no matter which game he plays, he never shies away from commenting on property designs or values
Did anyone else notice the moment at 32:22 when Jon accidentally shot a thrown axe out of the air without realising!? 😂
I hope this becomes a full gameplay! I never played the original, but i watched my sisters play them, so it's still endearing to me. I hope to see more from you!

I think a lot of the headshots not causing stagger is just bad accuracy Jon, you don't have Gamecube era hitboxes to compensate for dodgy aim anymore.
Went down here annoyed in the fight with the chainsaw dude. As half his shots are missing, and its annoy ing me so much 😂
If you were even a centimeter off you didn't get the hit. People are so quick to forget how it used to be.
You have to be VERY precise with your shots in this game, especially on Standard difficulty! It takes a bit of time to get used to the combat but once you get it, it's fine!
Jon has questionably bad aim in every game he plays.
No they definitely don't always stagger when shot in the head or leg sometimes they changed it in this
13:08 Jon seemed genuinely offended that the briefcase auto sort had the audacity to do things so chaotically.. I have to respect it
I feel you Jon, at the end there. There is something off about it. For me personally, I think it's the combat. The combat, somehow feels more clunky and awkward than the original. "Just a mouse" says john, while a creature the size of a small dog scurries past him xD The rats are freaking huge in this game.
I love Resi 4. It's basically the Metal Gear Solid of the horror world. Just Japanese camp and a bloody good time.
I love how I think to myself that just stuffing any old gems into a necklace with no regard for aesthetics would hurt me, and literally *right* after that I find out that there's a system rewarding you for putting in gems in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.

ohhh please jon give us a full series full of comparisons and leon's quips
rewatching this and looking at all the video titles really makes me appreciate the work and puns involved
The bolt thrower is arguably the most underrated and secretly powerful weapon.
Jon, a classics nerd, sees a minotaur: "THAT'S A COW MAN!"
It's less a minotaur than a guy wearing a cow's head, so I think "cow man" works better.
Jon freaking out over the auto sort is the best thing ive heard all day
Full playthrough please!
i do appreciate they used actual spanish voice actors this time

John, I think everyone would agree we need a full playthrough of this!
Playing on hardcore and protecting all the dear corvids. Never killed a bird in a RE game because I'm not a monster like Jon..
I love crows but I still cant resist all the loot from throwing a grenade into a group of them.

Seems the crows drop random loot. I watched a bit of a steam the other day and that first crow dropped some gunpowder instead of pesos
Wow, I cannot wait to watch this video for the very first time.
You don't need the knife to smash open barrels and crates. Leon kicks them open with an A.
I’m only about 6 minutes in and I assume the rest of the video is Jon futilely attempting to smash every barrel
i like how they kept Leons cheesyness in the remake :'D

We need a full playthrough Jon!
I would also love a full playthrough, please!

No more iron door safe room...
I really would love a full play through.
Make this a new series, please!
Did i miss that 4 piece ornate necklace or did i accidentally sell it? I certainly dont remember picking it up
