- Part 1: Mt. Sneffels via Blue Lakes overnight.
The first video of Three in my 'reunion tour' series, where I hike mountains that I have hiked in the past. Mt. Sneffels, Wetterhorn Peak, and Uncompaghre Peak.
Mt. Sneffels was my 35th Colorado 14er, and definitely one of my favorites! So beautiful! Probably why this video is almost 30 minutes long!
Part 2: Wetterhorn Peak at Sunset
Part 3: Uncompaghre Peak at Sunrise
Shot on my Sony A1 + Sony 20mm f/1.8G + Sony 50mm f/2.5G
Edited in Final Cut Pro X
Color Graded with Phantom A7sIII LUTS and Final Cut color tools

I LOVE how you documented this hike! It honestly felt like I was on the trail while watching this, and this is honestly the best video I have ever seen pieced together when it comes to adventures like this.
Thanks so much! Glad all of my extra work on the video is worth it!
Your videos make me nostalgic for adventures yet to happen--can't wait for summer to experience some more 14er fun :) Thanks for the videos Kevin!
That’s an amazing way to put it, thanks so much! Glad people enjoy!
Thanks for the video and doing the work to show me what climbing this is going to look like. I'm glad people like you film the whole thing...I'd hate to get up there and have to back down. I'm going to look for that campsite on my way up.
No problem, glad you like the videos! Its such a great spot to camp, definitely worth the extra elevation gain over camping at the lake!
I don't know what it is about it, but the field of flowers in the dark, and the whole early morning sequence seems so surreal. Really beautiful scenery
Really glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing production and a beautiful hike. Awesome video dude.
Nicely done!!! This is a well produced video, brings back memories of my hike up Blue Lakes Trail in an attempt to summit Sneffels. We camped and then headed up only to run into thunderstorms and hail, had to turn around. Looking forward to avenging ourselves! Thank you for this wonderful production!
Thanks so much, glad
You enjoyed it! That basically sounds like my first experience on sneffels too, I got turned around by a massive thunderstorm!
This was so well done. And so much respect for adding on those miles going back and forth for your camera! Hoping to do this one this summer!
Thanks so much! It definitely adds some
Time and distance, but it’s not too bad!
Amazing very beautiful ❤️❤️
Beautiful Video Kevin!
Cool video Kevin, you got lots of nice shots of Sneffels!
Thanks! It helps that the mountain is so darn photogenic!
A beautiful and very well constructed video, but . . . The incessant music neither increases nor enhances the beauty of the video, and it's almost non-stop. The bit from 24:20 - 24:35 is, for me at least, the best part of vid because it's just you and the intensely breathtaking surroundings. Scenery this magnificent doesn't have to have a soundtrack. If this sounds overly critical then I apologize because it is in all other aspects perfect. Cheers!
Just found your channel! great work man, And your almost at 1k subs!!
Amazing video. Makes me want to pack up right now and head there myself. How did you seem to have the mountain to yourself?
@@EricontheTrail thanks! Getting up early and going in the middle of the week helps a lot to avoid crowds.
Awesome video! Planning on doing this next weekend. Are there good spots to camp closer to Upper Blue Lake? Or do you just recommend camping at the Lower Blue Lake?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! As far as camp spots, there are a couple places, but they are pretty exposed if a storm rolls down the valley. It literally took me like 8 minutes to get from my campsite at tree line to the upper blue lake, so not super far.
This looks like an expensive production video. Nicely done and edited. Music is also very relaxing. What time/hour did you started your hike from the Blue Lakes trail? I might copy your idea and camp overnight since my goal is Mt Sneffels. Thanks again man!
Thanks! Glad you like it! I started at about 3 or 4 pm the previous day if I remember correctly. It is definitely one of the nicest camping spots I have camped, so I would recommend that!
Hi Kevin, just had to comment on your remarkable video. I'm going to attempt Sneffels this Oct if the weather permits and I've watched quite a few videos on the mountain and yours is definitely superior, very well done in every aspect.
Just out of curiosity, how much time would you say you put into the production of the video? Not the filming, just putting everything together? You have inspired me to try making more serious videos like this.
Thanks, I really appreciate it! Sneffels is definitely one of my favorites, especially from the blue lakes side. As far as the production time goes, this one is a bit weird since it was my first ever video I edited with Final Cut Pro after switching from premiere, so there was a bit of extra time taken on this one while learning. Still, I think the edit took maybe 15 hours tops?
Great production, if you don’t mind, what camera do you use while hiking? Do you use ND filters? Thank you!
Thanks so much! For this video I used the Sony A1, Sony 20mm f/1.8G, and Sony 50mm f/2.5g, both with ND filters to control exposure.
@@KevinFedde Thank you so much for your reply. I know you shoot log and was wondering if you have your white balance to auto due to constant changing weather patterns?
@@davisone76 I set my white balance manually to a kelvin value and change it as needed, not too hard!
@@KevinFedde You have a great eye sir. Keep it up. For most, it’s hard to keep track of everything that you do, for me, just trying to make it through a hike is hard lol. Major props
Do you need permit to hike there?
@@TheDu567 Didn’t need a permit when I did this a couple years ago!
What tent were you using?
I was using the ZPacks Hexamid Pocket Tarp with doors with a net tent by Mountain Laurel Designs inside! Super lightweight, and I’ve been using it for a couple years now!
Great work on the video! What profile do you like to film in? SLOG?
@@MichaelRichards983 Thanks! I have been shooting in SLog 3, very happy with the latitude out of it.
@@KevinFedde You’re doing a great job with the grading; Slog3 footage often has that ‘Slog’ look but you nailed it.
@@MichaelRichards983 Thanks so much! I was worried about the color since this was literally my first video I edited using Final Cut Pro (I used to be on premiere) and I'm not as used to Final Cuts color grading features as I am with Lumetri. So thats super good to hear!
