I feel the same for Jennifer! I didn't knew her personally, but when she passed, for me was like loose a beloved friend and a special person. She had so much that I related too. In honor of her, I'll try to read a book by Wilkie Collins. My TBR this year is He knew he was right by Anthony Trollope and Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell Happy Victober ❤
In some ways I’m surprised by how much Jennifer’s loss has hit me, even all of these months later. She just was a very special person and I think her spirit just really showed in all she did. ‘He Knew He Was Right’ is such a frustratingly good time 😂. Hope you enjoy your month!
Yay you're back great to see u 🤗 I hope you love Romola (such a great choice for the prompt) It was a challenging read for me but i absolutely loved it. Im watching TIOBEarnest (my first OW) & possibly another radio play. Totally get it with the life stuff. Happy Victober Tori 💞😊
every time i think of jennifer it hits me again. this is a great tbr! ive not read any proper classics this year, theyve not been appealing to me as much recently. good luck with all your books :)
Great to see you! Planning to read Great Expectations, The Return of the Native, and Cranford. Hope I get to some others as well! Sounds like you have some very good selections! Hope you have a terrific Victober!
Great to see you Tori! I thought you might come back when Victober was close 👏The Thomas Hardy collection sounds really interesting and I think I’ve heard good things about The Law and the Lady. I really enjoyed Little Dorrit and am currently reading and enjoying The Doctor’s Wife. Hope you enjoy your Victober reading whatever you manage to get to!
Jennifer said she would have liked 'The Law and the Lady' better if the back hadn't given her a spoiler. I've possibly got that lined up in remembrance of her too. Hopefully a short story for Alice as well, I was subscribed to them both, they're greatly missed.
Thanks for the info! Thankfully I didn’t read the back of my copy 😅. They truly were such wonderful people. I’m glad the hosts were inspired to have the bonus prompt this year. Hope your month is a success!
Welcome back - there's no better time to return than the beginning of Victober! I'm in the middle of Trollope's 'Barchester Towers' at the moment and I'll count finishing that off as part of my Victober activity. There might not be much more as my wife had cardiac surgery yesterday and it wasn't entirely successful, so she's now facing further surgery, which is yet to be scheduled. Nothing immediately life-threatening or anything but still a worry for us both. Of course there's a possibility that a little extra reading will take my mind off things and I might be able to slip in another Victorian volume, but in reality it's likely the Trollope will be my lot for Victober this year. I hope you enjoy the Wilkie Collins - I read 'The Woman in White' as my first Wilkie Collins last year and enjoyed it so much that I'm looking forward to trying another of his works ... I guess 'The Moonstone" would be the obvious choice. But do let us all know how you get on with 'The Law And The Lady' as I've seen that recommended on some other BookTube channels. Thanks for sharing your update - kind regards, Brian.
‘Barchester Towers’ is definitely an interesting read and Trollope’s writing is always a joy. I’m sorry about your wife’s situation. I hope the next surgery goes well. My thoughts (and prayers if you’re ok with that) are definitely with you both. Hope Victober brings some distraction and joy. ❤️
Lovely to see you 💜 I read the law and the lady last year and loved it.. Romula is now on my shelves so I look forward to hearing what you think of it 😊
Welcome back! George Bernard Shaw is a good playwright. Jennifer's videos are always a balm to the bookish soul--watch them if you can, and enjoy Victober.🧡🎃
Do read the Doctors Wife. It is good. It has a few similiar things like Madame Bovery but she is not Isabelle is not sensual like Madame Bovary. The benefits of novel reading plays a part. It is not a sensation novel like a lot of Braddon's boods are. The Literary Princess did a George Elliot read. She did a few videos on Romela. She really liked the book. Watch her videos on it.
Thanks for the video recs for Romola! I definitely will want to get as many perspectives on it as possible. And good to know a bit more about The Doctors Wife. I wondered how much it related to Madame Bovary.

Thank you! I hope you do too! You have a solid list. Return of the Native is my favorite of those three but the other two definitely are great reads!

I thought I remembered someone reading ‘The Law and the Lady’ last year and loving it! Hopefully I feel the same. Good to connect with you again!❤️
So glad to see you back! I am reading Little Dorrit myself! I hope you get to this one since I would be interested in hearing what you think of it.
Good to be back! Hopefully I can get to it! It would be fun to share thoughts!
