This is what separates Vlad from the other platforms and interviews. This is dope work, the intro is fire and have the sisters representing their brother very well.
These interviews with JMB's sisters is some of Vlad's best work. JMB was an enigma to the world, but his sisters knew who he really was. I'm so happy they're sharing their memories of him with us.
I saw a doc about him and in his dark times he gave a friend a painting and the friend said “he gave me a painting and I sold it like a weirdo. Man I regret that.” Whatever money he got then obviously skyrocketed now but the friendship was probably priceless.
His story sounds so current. Does anyone else get that? He really did not have a blueprint to this. He just went off his own creativity, vision, and intellect.
I feel that’s how it is presented. We may never know he’s passed, Andy has passed, and his immediate family doesn’t seem to know his art trajectory well or care to share if they do know. Something inspired him, I’m my opinion but we have to leave it to the imagination
They don’t seem to know him “well”. They are too pre occupied with trying to protect intricate details than sharing valuable new information about Jean. Man this is sad. Vlad knows more about their family than them…
What a significant interview towards African-American creators towards a voice that we are still echoing…. This should be a lesson towards Yesterdays problems on towards a solving this issue..⏰🧠
Vlad, I hope you asked about the paintings Jean-Michel gave to Madonna, and how he got them back from her when they broke up. I can’t recall if he got them all back from her.
This is very informative. I never knew at the time he was alive he was celebrated. Unfortunately, all we hear he was an artist and we hear about his demise. Vlad is asking the important questions
That's why I'm so happy that entire yellow cab industry in NY collapsed. As a New Yorker Pre Uber (Early 2000s) you still couldn't get a cab. Those bastards lost millions on those yellow cab licenses (medallions) when uber moved in. I think one sold for 1 million just before Uber hit. By the time Uber moved in you couldn't pay anyone to wipe their ass with those medallions. I know it was a technological revolution, but I still call it Karma.
As much as i hate Uber and Lyft the yellow cab industry in New York was the worst. A person of color had to jump thru many hoops to catch a taxi. They’d always have the not in service light on and drive past you. Or if they did stop, they’d ask you questions from a slightly opened passenger window before they let you in. No sympathy here for yellow taxi’s
This upon many events in our culture shows us that we have the power to control what is given to us, our creativity, and nobody else can possess what we own… knowledge of self beyond everything is the corner stone towards a peoples foundational progress⏰🧠
I knew one of his sisters growing up in Flatbush the father use to be very hard on her Janine their father use to kick her out she use to get beat up by her boyfriend on linden blvd the father use to kick them out I don’t know why she don’t kept it 100 it’s still people from from Flatbush that remember the truth I’m glad they were able to live off his legacy but the kids went through hell we from Brooklyn and he got decoratored after death they didn’t treat Haitian people well in Brooklyn way back than Janine was living on the lame most of the time I’m glad Janine got it together she was really a nice girl them Willis people she was around dogged her out that whole family was off
No disrespect to his legacy but Haitian parents didn’t play and the wanted to be outside all I know is after death that father made him a legend smart man after putting them kids through hell I will never forget Janine plenty of times my friend use to rescue her and she faced homelessness things were way different one thing about Haitian kids they won’t put their family down even if they were cruel to them that’s the moral of the story they should do a documentary on their family life cause them older kids ain’t have it easy
I knew that father was causing more havoc on this family than they led into. He’s the reason Jean ran away and that the mother ended up need psychiatric care.
I knew it was something. I’m not surprised by the sugarcoating. Many Haitians are well known for doing this. Won’t say a bad word yet suffered so much.
They probably don’t follow VLAD and understand that the interviews dig into the whole past and bring it around to a lesson in the end. Dictating the questions made me lose interest quick. All of our great idols had trials and tribulations. Why avoid discussing it?
Vlad may be an instigator or agitator with those who allow it, but I also have to give him credit for the diversity of people he has started to interview over the last few years.

Vlad dope asf for interviewing these beautiful women, basquiats sisters. WOW bro. this is really dope.
Having sister(s) is such a blessing. You can hear the love they have for their brother in their voices. 🤎
This is my first experience ever hearing of this brother. Now I know
Started with this video (part 2) Going back to watch part 1. These 2 women are amazing.
5:27 damn let them talk bruh 😭
This is beautiful 🤎 please keep these kind of interviews going vlad!

Basquiat influenced so many artist. Even now. I see his style in so many painted works.
Routinely conducting interesting interviews with interesting folks from left field is what stays elevating Vlad's brand.
Not gonna lie Vlad you outdid yourself with this one 👍
Good music in the back ground...jazzy blues in the start. Nice touch Vlad. 👌

He took them and painted em black
Vlad stop cutting them off and let them tell their damn story.
I like the interviews with two guests, you get in the moment corrections of misremembered information
Great interview. I didn’t even know Basquiat had siblings! They weren’t mentioned in either the movie nor the documentaries that I’ve seen.
I might wait until this whole interview is posted because this is a good one

Wow thanks 🙏 I never knew who he was you’re a cool guy too🙏😇💙🪽thanks beautiful story🖌️🖼️
These two very dignified, unassuming ladies are probably passed on the street everyday without anyone knowing who they are and what they know.
Grey, Michael Holman, fab 5 Freddy need to be in that conversation
I want to enjoy this interview, but I’m distracted by the porno music. Waiting for Vlad to bring them a pizza.
I agree. Turn the background music off.
It’s jazz & probably the music he listened 2 .. His sister’s probably requested it , it sets a tone … I think this what u hear in da exhibition…
Great production

Yeah I can see how immigrants might not have an understanding of the African American cultural arts at first sight. We had a very rebellious spirit
