Thanks for your in-depth and heartfelt reaction TM, it's one of the best Western reactions to Voice of Baceprot (Bah-che-prot) I've come across! To me, this band has so much more of an impact if you understand the context of who they are, where they came from, what they believe, what they've had to endure, and what they are doing. They are truly setting precedent and forging a new path for Muslim women (reaching the world stage in rock/metal), as well as helping to normalize what has been demonized in the West for far too long, altering the way that certain parts of the world see a certain demographic. You don't change the world simply by looking at it, you change it through the way you choose to live in it. The path they have chosen to take is a difficult one, but you can't have an easy, comfortable life if you want to change things. I am not a religious person, but this band has resonated with me so deeply because of what's in their hearts/souls, a desire for equality, safety and opportunity for all people! There's an excellent short visualizer for this song that helps convey the feeling even more: th-cam.com/users/shortsFr3_PJ7Xk8M Lyrics here: Why today, many perceptions have become toxic? Why today, many people wear religion to kill the music? I feel like I am fallin', washed down, swallowed by the crowd I'm not the criminal I'm not the enemy I just wanna sing a song to show my soul I'm not the corruptor I'm not the enemy I just wanna sing a song to show my soul God, allow me please to play music x 4 Why today, many perceptions have become toxic? Why today, idealizations are abusing our mind? I feel like I'm falling down, in the deep hole of hatred I'm not the criminal I'm not the enemy I just wanna sing a song to show my soul I'm not the corruptor I'm not the enemy I just wanna sing a song to show my soul God, allow me please to play music x 4
Thank you for such kind words and the lyrics as well. I've been doing a little more digging since I've watched this and I'm starting to get a clearer picture of the meaning in the lyrics. I'm glad you are touched deeply by the message and their perserverence as well. I will be checking out more for sure.
You are absolutely RIGHT in your perception ... The multiple means that they are represent of lots of people (read : women or girls) around the world who got bad and really bad treatment from society ... You can see from all of their original lyric songs ...
Thank you so much for the clarification. I'm glad I went back a second time to make sense of it. First time reactions are so hard because you miss so much, but this definitely needed a second look.
Nyala api dalam simbolis menggambarkan semangat yang berkobar dengan api kecil memberikan penerangan dan kehangatan bukan menghanguskan dan meluluh lantahkan.
These girls were told by the radical elements in their country to not play music, much less metal music. So... they do a cover of "Killing in the Name of" and scream, "Fuck you! I won't do what you tell me." Tiny little girls and ferocious beasts all at the same time.
Body of a mouse but the roar of a lion, these girls. That Rennes concert (Killing..") Is absolutely world-shattering, capable of being the anthem of a worldwide muslimah revolution.
Fantastic band. Tom Morello is a big fan. Also, check out their song 'PMS' (doesn't mean what most people seem to expect). Another strong expression of their desire for equal freedom for all, and great melody and vocal harmonies.

Yes, of course music in the Muslim religion is makruh which means if you leave music it will be much better, but if it will run music it's okay but of course with certain limitations, and you should know that in our country all kinds of music are not prohibited, but if you look at messages from vob, in fact they are trying to convey a message to the views of some people who see their hijab clothes and play metal music, because metal music in among ordinary people in some of our villages it is often regarded as satanic music,

Thanks for the question. That's part of what I am doing with my channel. I am getting back into music. In particular metal music, but all sorts of music and exposing myself to different acts from all over. I gave up on music quite a bit about 20 years ago. I have been primarily listening to the same stuff that I grew up on. I got so put off by how soulless a lot of music was becoming that I just checked out some new bands here and there, but mostly listened to stuff I was familiar with from my youth and retro style pop and rock and metal. One of the goals with my channel is to re-spark a flame for music and get excited about it again. Weirdly, the spark started with K-pop because I stopped giving pop music a chance after the early 90's, but I started checking out K-pop and it reminds me of what American pop and culture used to be, to a degree. The same with metal acts and rock acts from other countries. They make me think of what music used to be like in America. I think the torch of authentic expression through music has been passed along to so many other countries and I never realized it because I stopped giving new bands and groups a chance. It's exciting to see that other countries have taken some western influenced music and completely evolved to higher levels.
Please, react to the Japanese rock female band "Dorodoro (it means "Muddy")..with the song "Shi" (means "Death"). Look for this: ドロドロ 「し。」 PS - the MV is not what you might think..the lyrics are about "meaning of life, what's my purpose"...existential stuff like these.
@@the_talking_muffin I wanted to put the direct TH-cam link to that music video but almost everytime I do that in a comment, I can't see it after a short time...and do not know if the others can see it too.
That Wikipedia you read in the beginning is weird. Their native language is Sundanese, yes. But most of their songs are in Indonesian or Indonesian mix with English. I never heard of them singing Sundanese. FYI: Indonesia is national language, and everyone has to learn it. Sundanese is one of 700+ local/ethnic languages in Indonesia. We use Indonesian to make sure everyone understands, so it used in education, news, legal work, formal speeches, etc. We use local/ethnic language only with family/friends/basically people who understands said language and in informal situation.
Thank you for this! For those of us trying to learn more about Indonesia and VOB, it all really helps! Question - then for those of us using a computer translator, what should we choose, Indonesian or Sundanese?
@@bw1342 in this case Indonesian. But if for whatever reason it doesn't give English translation, then try Sundanese. I'm Indonesian, but of different ethnic group. My ethnic language is different from VOB. Had they sing in Sundanese, I would need a translator too..
I went to the official website and went to Wikipedia. I believe the Sundanese did indeed come from Wikipedia. I think I am going to have to abandon Wikipedia for info. Thank you for letting me know and I will try to get official website info from now on.
"God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music". This single came after the personnel consisting of three veiled women experienced a bit of intolerance in the environment. Criticism and stigma came and went from all directions and almost made them want to give up on the music scene in 2016. "The more we try to avoid criticism, distanced himself, it became even more vicious, it provoked us to fight even more outspokenly," VoB vocalist and guitarist Firdda Marsya Kurnia said in an official statement. "We want people listening to this song to be more tolerant of other people. God does not belong to just one person or a group of people," said Marsya. "So, everyone has the right to recreation, and the responsibility for their creation is given by God," Marsya continued❤ and if you want to know more about how the VOB members journey and struggle in making music, I suggest you to check out _*VOB Live at PENNY LANE*_. there you can see a special interview session for VOB members [english translation]
Try VOB on penny lane there more information about their long and sad story of VOB . Please sir... Do if you want more know , just like went you say VOB break a barrier, and discrimination . Terima kasih=thank you
This lyrics emphasizes to the kind of the metal music, which is connected to satanic attitude... and I assume many religions reluctant. Here in Indonesia, many female singers are free to sing other kind of music, such as pop, dangdut, jazz, etc.

PS - the MV is not what you might think..the lyrics are about "meaning of life, what's my purpose"...existential stuff like these.
That was a little hard to find, but I found it and I've saved it in my list. Thank you so much for the suggestion and the comment!
@@the_talking_muffin I wanted to put the direct TH-cam link to that music video but almost everytime I do that in a comment, I can't see it after a short time...and do not know if the others can see it too.
VoB 🤘🤘🔥🔥
@@Si_nengatcha Ok, thank you 🙏 (terima kasih)! I'm understanding more now!
I went to the official website and went to Wikipedia. I believe the Sundanese did indeed come from Wikipedia. I think I am going to have to abandon Wikipedia for info. Thank you for letting me know and I will try to get official website info from now on.
@@bw1342 you're welcome
God, allow them {please} to play music in Saudi and Iran
"God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music". This single came after the personnel consisting of three veiled women experienced a bit of intolerance in the environment.
Criticism and stigma came and went from all directions and almost made them want to give up on the music scene in 2016.
"The more we try to avoid criticism, distanced himself, it became even more vicious, it provoked us to fight even more outspokenly,"
VoB vocalist and guitarist Firdda Marsya Kurnia said in an official statement.
"We want people listening to this song to be more tolerant of other people. God does not belong to just one person or a group of people," said Marsya.
"So, everyone has the right to recreation, and the responsibility for their creation is given by God," Marsya continued❤
and if you want to know more about how the VOB members journey and struggle in making music, I suggest you to check out _*VOB Live at PENNY LANE*_.

Thankyou Muffin 👍🤘

This lyrics emphasizes to the kind of the metal music, which is connected to satanic attitude... and I assume many religions reluctant. Here in Indonesia, many female singers are free to sing other kind of music, such as pop, dangdut, jazz, etc.
