- I would like to say what a privilege & honor it has been for me to once again cover this nest. Last May 2018, a young sub adult who would later be called Shadow, arrived and began to woo Jackie. He successfully won her heart & we got to see the the culmination of their bonding - two beautiful eaglets - Simba & Cookie, hatching & growing stronger under their care.
Shadow excelled at being a first time Dad & Jackie herself only a second time Mom, worked alongside him to help raise their new family. Our hearts are rich & overflowing with so many beautiful memories watching the babies interact together - but then tears were shed over the passing of Cookie who died from hypothermia when a late springtime storm passed through the area.
Simba grew strong & fledged at 100 days old as we all cheered him on!
To Simba - May the wind always be beneath your wings, may you soar high & fly free and maybe one day, return again to your natal nest area & raise a family of your own. Godspeed Simba! ♥♥♥
~~ I would like to thank all the many viewers & eagle lovers from the bottom of my heart - who have followed Shadow, Jackie, Simba & Cookie this season with me! I hope you enjoy the video I created and that it touches your heart.

It has been an honor and a privilege to have been part of this incredible journey. Oh what joy and tears they have brought us. We will forever be grateful for Jackie, Shadow, Simba & Cookie. Such heartfelt memories I will always cherish. Shadow being a first time dad did an incredible job. Mom sure loved her babies. Truly the Glory of God shines and spreads his love to all of us. What a remarkable year we have had starting with our young sub adult Shadow showing up out of the blue and taking a liking to the nest and to an older woman!! He set out to win her heart and he accomplished that goal!! And what a great family they made with Cookie & Simba ♥♥♥ I so wish that Cookie had not died!! That was so heartbreaking to watch. Simba also grieved for Cookie and was protective of his body for a long time. Now Cookie will always be a part of this nest as Simba goes out to live the life he was destined to live! Lady Hawk, I finally got to watch your entire tribute! I had not watched this nest from the beginning because as a newbie, I was enraptured by the Trio Eagles. When that cam shut down, I found you all. Cookie had already passed, and I didn’t realize how big he already was! I’m so sorry about that loss-what a blow to all of you who were there at the beginning. This tribute is so moving and beautiful. Thank you 1000000 Xs! That year was my first time watching an eagle nest. I didn’t know how to navigate anything and mostly viewed the chat section to learn. I didn’t even know the eaglets names then. I I had no idea that I would ever become so attached to this amazing eagle family! Jackie and Shadow are great parents!

Awe LH, what a beautiful sweet video that is. Seeing our sweet Cookie was extra special. It’s been such a joy to see our Simba grow up and watch all his antics, watch his adorable hissy fits, his amazing relationship with his Mom and then his fledge in his own time. I know he’s still around doing what he has to do to get prepared for his journey with Mom, but boy I sure miss seeing our little man everyday. I pray when he leaves he will always have a full crop, God watches, protects him wrapping his loving arms around him keeping him safe, he meets many friends along the way, he stays out of trouble and fights and that he always knows his way home to where Mom and Dad is. He want be able to stay at home, but they will want to know he is safe and ok. Safe travels Simba and you have a whole lot of Aunts & Uncles that love you bunches little man that will be thinking and praying for you daily. Most of all Mommy, Daddy & God your creator loves you, now go and be the amazing eagle you were born to be. 💜🙏🏻🦅💜

I'm speechless LH. So much passion and heart was put into this. I loved seeing a young Shadow and Jackie court each other all over again. I know it wasn't easy to include Cookie's footage either around the 6min mark with "the dance" which brought some emotions back out for me and a tear💧. We will always remember you Cookie💔💙. Following up this footage with Simba's dance was smart to brighten the mood💛. Your end song choice was perfect, just perfect to showcase Simbas milestones. Stunning collection of final scaps and footage to take us out and that end scap is amazing. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to this season and making it the best it could possibly be for all of us💞💞🌷💞💞. We love you Simba and our hearts go with you on your journey💙.

I'd forgotten just how young Shadow looked when he first started dating Jackie.
I remember the year before when Jackie was known as Mrs BB. She had a hard and lonely time for a while. It's a good thing Shadow came along. 💕
I'm glad Simba is banded so hopefully we'll see him return to the area in the future with a nest of his own.

Beautiful and touching tribute! I really cried when I saw Shadow lovingly preening Cookie's and Simba's beaks and areas around the face - Sweet Shadow. Jackie - the determined and great mom.
Angel Cookie will always be missed - Simba placed the little sprig of dead pine leaves (he and Cookie once played with) on top of Cookie's remains the day he fledged. Lady Hawk, thank you so much for all the amazing videos and your educational comments. This was my first experience watching eagles and, as my questions have clearly shown, I knew nothing about these magnificent birds. I have now, after these few months, learned so much from the videos, from your comments and from your generous responses to my question and questions from other viewers. I want you to know that the most important lesson that I have learned is that nature is beautiful and yet so fragile. We must take good care of our planet and of every living being with whom we share it. Watching these videos after a day commuting in noisy traffic and locked up in an office for 10 hours, became my return to nature. I will miss Simba's voice, but all that really matters is that, after all the effort that the parents have put in, Simba lives a long and productive live. Thank you for sharing these videos and your knowledge. You have made a difference.

Lady Hawk...You have so beautifully captured a story of an eagle family that have warmed our hearts this season:) Shadow and Mom, against all odds, bonded together and stayed together thru love and tragedy. And, yes..an eagle can lay an egg on snow. LOL Mom is one strong female eagle and Shadow...so handsome! Your tribute to this eagle family will always remain a special moment in my heart, forever! SoCal Eagle you are the very first person I talked to (so to speak) when I met this gorgeous family. I remember passing by and reading the chat that you and few others were having a few weeks before they arrived and were only making sporadic visits. You all were watching, waiting and hoping for sneak peeks. I had no idea that the nest was in a tree. I thought it was on a cliff. I finally built up the courage to say hello and asked you where I could read about the history of the nest so when I came back I would be able to hold a ‘somewhat’ intelligent conversation...I continued to pop in and still didn’t catch a peek at either of them. Shortly after they were here, they were staying and so was I.. Next came the eggs and the rest is history... If it wasn’t for your kindness I would have kept going and I can’t thank you enough. This family is truly something else...

Hi SoCal Eagle - thank you so much my friend!!! I miss the days of our old unmoderated chat when we got to share our thoughts on this eagle family. You have been here with me each step of the way as we saw Shadow arrive and change the whole dynamic on the nest! I really enjoyed our "As the nest turns" episodes being truly excited as the future of this eagle couple! The first time we saw Shadow attempting to mate with Mom was a turning point because I knew eggs were going come this year!! I was so proud of Shadow!!! ♥♥♥ We had many smiles and tears but through it all Simba thrived and is now out there taking on the world! Thanks for sharing the journey with me my friend!! See you round the nests!!

Simba i hope hes safe and one day have a family of his own and be a great parent like the ones he and Cookie has. See how the parents change is so wonderful to watch. Lady Hawk, I dont know how you do these season ending videos. I had tears starting right out with the early pictures of Shadow. He has matured to a beautiful Eagle and one of the most loving and caring Fathers I have ever seen. The way he looked at those babies was something indescribable. It was pure Love, Joy, and Pride all rolled into one look. I surely hope that Shadow and Jackie will come back to this nest next year and lay their eggs a little later. It would be nice if both babies could survive. I was more than a little concerned when Cookie passed. Simba was also a little sick but was able to get better. I could tell he was really missing Cookie and it wasn't until he fledged that he finally wasn't so protective of Cookie's body. Simba turned out great and I dont think he was as much of a "brat" as Stormy. I don't know if Stormy has been seen recently and I wonder if he stayed in the area and if so would Simba stay in the area as well ?? So I am making a "toast" to all the people that watch this nest, it has been a great year and hopefully we will have another one next year. To all of you, A Big Hug and Thanks, especially to Lady Hawk !! Remember the season at SWFL will be here before you know it. See y'all around !!! 🦅❤🦅
