Superbon's right high kick was there all night until it eventually caught Petrosyan flush, knocking Petrosyan completely out cold, what a nasty knockout.

why is there NO discussion on brain injury in MMA at all? these athletes are humans, just like boxers and football players......

It's discussed all the time, besides are you aware what the general objective of the sport is???
This is a new "exciting" sport, unlike century-old boxing or other contact sport where one athlete aims to do the opponent harm in order to win. This is at most 20 years-old. By the time few of these guys are able to walk or speak properly, about another 35 years will need to have passed by. But there's no doubt about it, when most of these guys inter their late 50s to early 60s, very few of them would be able to get up on their own or talk properly.
They all scream one-punch and you're completely out is better or less damaging than many punches using thicker gloves like it is in boxing, but that's not necessarily true. Cushion almost always is better than non-cushion or less cushion. When you take so many hard blows hard enough to render your brain to literally shut down, it means the impacts are too damaging for the brain to continue; so if it doesn't shut down, it likely will be permanently damaged. But if you keep subjecting your head to such blows, damage likely will be irreversible.
It's discussed all the time. But in general, mma is safer in terms of brain damage than boxing and football even though it looks brutal.

Some are MMA fights, which allow ground and pound. Others are Muay Thai or Kickboxing fights, and those have knockdown counts like in boxing. ONE FC is known for having multiple rule sets

Looking at referees wearing masks it's time we stopped taking risks with a fighter's health and started always mandating fighters be triple jabbed and all fights sanctioned only if the rules state they're all to be full`mask-wearing matches, and the fighters only fight using extra thick groin protection, and have a bandaid strategically placed on each buttcheek just in case they get their butts kicked...
What? ~ It's all about the fighter's health isn't it? ;-)
