    This is wonderful to see. Granted nobody should be deified and thought of as an ideal for all time. Aikido has evolved a lot since then, sometimes not for the better. Sometimes it is for the better.

    Thanks for posting this! I train at Aikikai Hombu and it is a bit sad to see that at lot of what O'Sensei did is no longer being taught/done there on a regular basis (Aiki ken/jo, O'Sensei's warm up/Ki exercises, etc...).

    One Great Person can make such a difference .... yet millions of mediocre die and are forgotten!

    ppl r prone to judge what not they understand n doubt what cant b seen...aiki in essence is mindsight n spirituality..physical is secondary..as d sayin goes : the devil only need break ur mind n ur done forever...aikido can in someway or another help in this situation..what is important is spiritual cultivation..all else is secondary nature

    To access the spiritual side of life 1st master its physical side, that's what O Sensei is saying...prove me wrong O Sensei! hahaha

    Where on earth did you get this rare historical footage from?

    • @sensam6155
      @sensam6155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ''rare historical footage''? Chill, dude. It's from the 1960's, not the early 1800's. You can watch Bruce Lee shows and movies from the same time period!

      um, two decades ago i did buy this on videotape. i think it was the great Stanley Pranin with his Aiki-something that made some historical footage available on vhs videotape. it was just for sale.

    Aikido is not EGO fight. If you want to beat the crap out of somebody use box. Aikido is for cultivation of the spirit in the body and cultivating the wisdom of the spirit into the body so that winning is existant without fighting it is only for masters of heart not for bullies it is for spiritual people from the beginning and peplewith so many years refined in experience on fighting that they understood that fighting is not the ultimate goal but balance. Aikido leads there.

    Aikido will never be effective, even if it is a master, because the attacks made by the Ukes are IRREAL. NO AGGRESSOR WOULD TAKE YOU AWAY FROM THE DOLL, WHILE THIS REMAINS AT THE HEIGHT OF THE THIGH. In Aikido you can see how the Ukes are running towards Tori without any intention or offensive action, like blows, that would be the logical thing in a combat situation. When you are in a fight against a violent aggressor and you will not cooperate and where you play the physique, you do not have your hands fallen to the height of the thighs. I assure you (and I say it from personal experience) that when you have been punched, those who leave your jaw dancing and you have jumped a couple of teeth, the next you will raise your hands adopting some kind of guard of combat. The "attacks" (if you can call them that) of the ukes are unreal. No one in their right mind would attack in the way they do.
    This Aikido is very nice to see, but it is a fantasy to believe that they are situations that occur in real combat.

      Thats odd. Sokaku Takeda occasionally during his travels would on purpose walk in rural areas with robbersand other thugs. After each such walk, the locals noticed there were no more robbers. Sokaku Takeda would have practised his martial art and finished them off. Foor good.
      Shioda a student of Morihei, would also practise his martial art in local places, although non lethal only fighting.
      Morihei himself, has been instructor of Japanese police, navy, army, etc.
      There is no question at all if aikido "works", my friend. It is just you dont understand it.
      You see Andy Warhol, and its just a silly Soupcan for you, and you ventilate your ignorance telling that "my little sister can paint better"and "its not real art."
      Please educate yourself before opening your mouth.
