    Jamie taught us this a few years back on angles. Immediately after old school deckhands were yelling at my dad 64 years old to stop pointing rod at fish screening at him. 185lber decked in 10 minutes. This technique works.

    great info as always ,Phil would be nice, if you have a little segment on showing some different setups for spj, like for yellows, rockfish etc.

    one can use the flat rod technique with any rod, I learned it from one of the old timer long range guys (forgot the gentleman's name) but deck hands often lose their shit when you are doing it! Trying to tell people that the drag the fish feels is from the reel, not the rod, can cause bar fights...
