I currently own an 02 Z06. The only suspension upgrades I have done is install C6 z06 shocks and poly bushings on the sway bars. What a difference that made. I rebuilt the suspension of a 92 vette that I recently sold before I bought my 02. I put new upper and lower ball joints, bilstein shocks, Continental Extreme Contact tires, tied rods and replaced all the bushings with poly bushings. When I was done that car handled and drove amazing. When I got my 02 z06 it had more body roll than I was used to. After the shocks, poly sway bar bushings and a new set of Continental Extreme Contacts my 02 handles and drives how I like it!
You did a superb job breaking this tutorial down into easy to understand segments. I appreciate the pressing demonstration using the utmost control not to over compress the bushing. I'll watch this again right before I tackle this with my C6...

Like to know your impressions of driving it afterwards, especially any changes to handling, ride quality, noise reduction, etc. Do you plan to keep the C6 Z06 shocks forever? Hi, thanks for the great tutorial. I’m doing the same thing on my C6. I have a question for you. On the upper control arms, the pins have holes that one side that is oblong one side that is round. Which way do the slaughtered holes face? Towards the front of the car? Or towards the rear of the car? I think I may have installed mine incorrectly. Thank you so much.
A month ago I went down this path on my 98 c5. Planned on doing the poly kit but when I got in there I decided to do it all, poly bushings, inner/outer tie rods, ball joints, swaybar links, and coil overs at all 4 corners to be done with it all at once. It was a job but worth it. You’ve avoided the worst part, grinding off old rubber bushings. Moog components are a nice upgrade but they don’t make inner tie rod for the rear. Had to go back with oem. Anybody know of a better option out there?
After a year how are the poly bushings doing? Any noise? Many people recommend drilling and tapping for a grease zerk to help with lubrication since so many get squeaks after going to a poly bushing. I'm considering Delrin since it seems to be a better self lubricating option
@@mycorvettelife how were you able to press in the rear lower control arm bushings since they are one piece? I was able to get the shock mount one in, but not the rest. You just cut to them being done.
@@TheRealGhostK22 - I just finished installing the AFE (PFADT) poly kit for the aluminum frame C6Z / ZR1 and wow what a job! You may be able to get the one piece rear lower bushings in the a-arm but they probably won’t slide into the slot in the frame easily. Do a test fit in the frame of the rear lower bushings with inner sleeves in place before pressing them into the a-arm and see if they perfectly fit in the frame. If they do not have at least 2mm of side to side clearance, they will most likely be impossible to squeeze in the slot in the frame. I got the one piece rears in with a small amount of motor oil on the tapered lip and I set the bushing on my rubber floor mat and stepped on the a-arm. After I got the one piece installed with the sleeves pressed in, I found out that the bushing had elongated in the bore and no amount of compression would allow it to fit in the frame. I cut it in half, very carefully, with a hack saw while it was sandwiched in my vise and sanded it down with a hand held belt sander inverted on my work bench. Keep sanding until you have a 1/8” - 3/16” gap right in the middle. It’ll slide right into the frame and will still have plenty of poly for the pin/sleeve to ride on. Totally worth the $$$ and effort to do this! It really woke up the car!
@@natez0690 thanks for the reply, buddy! I got them installed a few weeks ago, but haven't driven the car yet. The few one piece bushings fought with me on the rear lower control arms, but other than that they were smooth sailing. I had to compress the two forward most ones on the rear lower control arms to get them to slide into the subframe. Haven't tried the front yet, lol.

Chris, have you thought about installing zerk fittings in the links so silicon lube can get lubrication periodically?

Why would you not show the instal on the rear lower control arms? That’s the only reason I watched this video.
Because there is nothing to show. They just slide in. Same as the front.

They are fine. Although I don’t put a ton of miles on the car.
How did you get the arms so shiny? I know there's a coating and I was hesitant on wire wheeling or sand blasting them..
