Thanks Austin. Great to hear the compliments on THM. I've been paying for a sub for a while, but have to dig in more and get my legs under me. Thanks!!!
It’s so interesting to hear from you Austin! I am preparing like crazy to to take CISSP before it gets expire in April and CompTIA security plus before it is expired in July. Your story is absolutely motivating me a lot. Thanks for your video!
It’s definitely more than possible. I’m proud of you. I love when people like you showing it possible. I’ve done this before. In my start it took me only 3 months to do 15 certs and people talk against it. You’ve set yourself up well
@@thewordens3965 minimum 5. There were a few certs I did wishing a day (AWS CCP was 6 hours of my life, AZ900 was 4 hours, Linux Essentials was 8, HDI CSR shouldn’t count it was 45 minutes, ITIL foundation was 6 hours… and other than the rest days I didn’t really study much… that was my June 2022)
@@Ed-wy2od from what I’ve seen around the entire program takes about 960 hours you can kinda calculate when you’d graduate based on the amount of hours a day you put in. I saw someone put in 14-16 hours a day and he graduated in 10 weeks
I think doing the hands on portion after obtaining the cert is also fine. I use these theocratical multiple choice certs as the knowledge I need to understand the hands on portion afterwards. At the end of the day, just the cert alone won’t get you the job, you have to prove to the employer you have practical hands on skills to do the job, so what I’m saying is you have to eventually get hands on experience regardless.
For the A+ certifications, what material did you study for the test ? That’s what I’m on right now and it seems there’s a surplus of information out there I want to utilize the best sources.
I was thinking of doing certs on my own then going back to school and using those to check off the degree classes. Does that sound like a good idea or would it be better to enroll at WGU first and get vouchers from their classes?
You should be established to a point where you are able to freely start hackthebox. For example, if your chances of getting a pentesting job are very unlikely in the next 3 years of study, maybe go for the fundamentals and get to a point where you can level up. Thats the situation im in. I wan to do pen testing and learn pentesting but i have an entire bachelors and many certifications that i need to get before i can even really think about getting a pentesting job.
