- RARE! 1986 Gleaner R6 comes to the farm - Southern Iowa Harvest 2022
In this video a neighbor and his Gleaner R6 harvest the last few patches of soybean crop for me. Andrew and I get a run of tile installed and we harvest some disappointing corn on the weaker ground.

As someone who has grownup working on a friends farm in the 1980’s and 90’s, I really appreciate the footage of the older equipment. Brought back quite a few fond memories of riding in that stuff. It’s refreshing to see that equipment still running strong!

Love the older stuff. If someone was to offer me a free brand new top of the line combine or one from the 70's or 80's , I'd take the old one without hesitation. Great video as always.

Well I guess Andrew and I unfortunately have something in common,this old part time laborer watches other farmers😢. I must say Ben I love your selection in plaid jackets,nice and catchy. Funny you have to leave corn and they have already cleaned out so much,I know winter feed. Thanks to all !!
Watching you patch that auger brought back memories, I ran a grain elevator for 25 years and my best friend for patching leaks was duck tape and inner tubes.
Need some of that rubber around. Probably time for a new tube. Maybe new auger

Good video , I would think the tile plow pulls better after some rain . Clarke county got around 3 " of rain 2 days ago . The ground was so dry it is soaking it in fast .

I grew up in independence mo, where these were built and my best friends dad worked at the plant. I remember seeing these get rolled out of the plant.

I'm not an electrician and never played one on TH-cam, but I can reverse the rotation of a 3 phase motor real easy. You just switch 2 of the 3 leads around. 😎 A good electrician would have checked that when he got it wired up!

I got a 4020 SHOP MANUAL from IT MANUALS as a ''mistake'' the other half said THAT WAS NO MISTAKE THATS OUR TRACTOR COMMING TO US ONE PART AT A TIME !!! (( our 100 acre woods with some land to farm and grow chuawawawawas, an ARMY OF CHUAWAWAWAS!!! ))

Folding 12 rows are heavy for road gear. Been a lot of cracked rims recently. Maybe a 8 row head would work.

@@iowANFarmer of course he does, there’s cornmeal in dog food! I work with dogs for a living & have 2 chocolate labs that eat anything they can get down their throats, whether it’s food or not. 😂I can’t set butter out on the counter & turn my back. The fat in it can cause pancreatitis(ask me how I know🙄)
When I was a kid in the 60s I had a neighbor with a Gleaner, it must have been 12ft. wide, and a 1932 Chevrolet truck with an old glove for a radiator cap. I was driving the truck and not driving good enough, I got ahead or behind and the wheat spilled on the ground. This old guy named Chester stopped, scooped up the wheat in a pith helmet he was wearing, and threw it up over the side boards, into the old Chevrolet. He didn't believe in waste. That night I wish he'd have wasted more food at supper,cause it wasn't enough for me and I went to bed hungry. I had a cinnamon roll for dessert that was made with lard , and tasted like bacon. Hmmm, a long time ago.

Surprised the electrician(s) didn’t at least ‘bump’ the fan enough to check rotation. Only time I don’t check rotation of motors, when wiring grain bins, would be if there’s no power to the site yet, and that’s rarely happened.
There was no power at the site yet.
