I got me a depth master 8ft rod for medium down rigging . I’m tryna run dipsys with spoons, with my new boat . I’m new to trolling fishing . In fact this would be my first time doing it. Tips appreciated
Would be targeting salmon and walleye
That will work just fine
Thanks for the video

Thank you for the tips.
You're welcome
I have spoken with the locals over in Algonac and the current isn't the same along the boardwalk as it is over in Port Huron. They have suggested use a 6 or 8oz sinker. I am not sure they are using spoons but maybe a crawler harness with a perch rig style set up but instead of using sneled hooks they set up a crawler harness with spinner maybe. Would you suggest using the same process for walleye where the river splits into 2 channels over where river splits around Harson's Island?
Yes current is alot slower down that way and I'd run crawlers on a 3 foot lead with just a simple hold long shank hook 3 feet off bottom no blades
Where can I get the Red eyed fire tiger brass back spoon
@@Rose-u1w5b I have a few
@@sparrsoutdoors I am looking to get one so I can try out your set up. Where can I go to buy one. 😁
@Rose-u1w5b Jay's Marine show them this video and tell them u need that spoon
@@sparrsoutdoors Thank you very much
They are out, do you have any other suggestions we want to go fishing this weekend in Port Huron on the St Clair river by the Black River? Also what is a good pole to use we just bought ugly sticks medium -heavy 8ft, but they don't seem strong enough to cast 2lbs, any suggestions?
Used to fish for walleye like this right by the water treatment plant and police station.. worked awesome.. good times. Caught a huge 32 once. I used red eyes or glow baits... It's awesome because while you're waiting for the bell to ring, you can jig with a open reel sheeps and whatever else might be swimming by. Make sure you change your seaweed every 30-45 minutes.. guaranteed this rig works!!! Spent many nights nailing them just like this...
Exactly. Thanks for watching. Glad u enjoyed the watch 💪💪🎣🎣
If I wouldn't have bought my boat I'd still be fishing this way. Very productive way of fishing for sure.
Yes sir. I have a boat and still fish the wall haha. I like to switch it up a bit keeps things not so same all the time
Nice informative video. Its coho and walleye time on the St .Clair River i cant wait! Keep up the great work!
Thanks you
I live right across the road from the boardwalk. Thanks for this, I'm down there all the time. Great video
I'm sure I'll see you there 🎣
I am using that rod your holding with the same reel from he same spot. I am using that, and whisker seekers FMJ heavy rod fast action and my trusty game fish boat series glass rod. I run 40 pound braid because it cuts through the current better less drag. I run a 20 pound mono line to my sinker from my three way swivel. I tie all sinker lines with the Palomar knot. All my leaders with spoons I tie a fisherman's knot. I run my sinker at 24" from bottom then I run my bead typically between 4 and 6 feet. Leaders are usually 18 to 20" I have caught fish from all of them leaders being 6" long to 36" long. But most production for me has been in the 18 to 20" range.
I just got done making my rod holders. I got some scrap 2" ID pipe from work for free and some angle iron for free. I then grabbed some c clamps for cheap and welded it all up I need to paint it now.
It'll all work. That rod I was holding is by far my least favorite..I like the old school Penn 209 American made with a beef stick rod or 320 gt Penn. The original. But yea different lead lengths for different scenarios but the leads I showed in this video is the go to catch fish every time deal .I'll be down there soon. Pulling the boat out tomorrow though so who knows lol
@@sparrsoutdoors same lol broom handle. I like a little play in the rod tip. Heading to the water now fishing until about 11-1130 then I gotta easter egg hunt. I'll be in the south lot by the bridge closest to the museum I'll have some cash for you.
@@ML-ks2lj u still down there I'm just waiting to pick my boat up
@@sparrsoutdoors no sorry on my way to wahdams township hall for the Easter egg hunt. I might be coming back down in a little while gotta run some more errands
@@ML-ks2lj no biggie holler at me on a live or something I gotta take this kid his stuff. I just got out of Jay's for their open house. Good sales

What size sinker on your slider?
Allen mentioned it. 1 oz down to a 1/2 oz works well
What pound test fluorocarbon leader for walleye and for salmon?
10-12
What is that spoon called and what size can you send a link where to buy them. Thank you great video
It's a daredevil evil eye
What weight is the spoon
1/5 oz
@Sparr's Outdoors what brand are these? Approximate length?
That's it no more questions
@@glw2554 evil eye by daredevil. 3 inch
Where are you river fishing at ?
Port Huron boardwalk area
Are you wall fishing around Edison Park or down south somewhere? Haven't tried this before but sounds like a good way and your video was great! Just happen to have a few heavy old catfish poles from my Ohio mississippi days, thx for all the tips!
Edison parkway and by the country building in port Huron 🎣🎣
Do you run differnt length leaders on your river rod set up if so do you run long one on top or bottom ?
Long one on top. Short one on bottom
@@sparrsoutdoors awsome thanks great video too
