Excellent video filming Phil 👍😉 Incredible weekend it has been to go to fantastic steam railways. I went to the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway yesterday and they ran a GWR Pannier tank & Class 25 in action.
Thanks Philip. Yes great scenery all the way along the railway. Canals too ,with some fascinating feats of engineering in the area, horse shoe falls and the nearby Pontcysillte aqueduct! ( I had to look up the name and spelling again) ;-)
Crackin' goodd video and well presented. I have been to this railwaay many times as well as most other preserved lines, Many of my video's are on my you tube site if you are interested. I'm 82 now and cant drive over a 100 miles to these events. Thanks .
Train departing Carrog for Llangollen correctly passes two signals for it's own journey, (Carrog's Home and then it's Starter), but in doing so passes two signals 'pulled off' for a train from the opposite direction; approaching Carrog ....? Same thing for the next train entering Carrog, which also passes two signals showing clear for the opposition direction.......! This is not good signalling practice. I am surprised that this is permitted. Not only is this giving loco crews the wrong information at this location.......it is also permitting confusion at other locations. The interlocking at Carrog Signal Box should not allow this........ James Hennighan Yorkshire, England
It's probably switched out if it's not needed for crossing trains, with the drivers having the token for the section from Glyndrfrdwy, or however you spell it, and the signals set straight into the up platform
It's not switched out........there is clearly a signalman operating the box...... The signal at the platform end is clearly shown at danger when the loco runs round......AND.......when it stops prior to running back into the platform, (a move which is signalled by one of the three shunting signals), both signals approaching Carrog from Llangollen are at danger. Their is clearly something amiss with the operation and interlocking at Carrog..........or a particular signalman at Carrog is not operating the box as he should.
@@jameshennighan8193 Can I suggest you don't make assumptions if you don't know what the operating arrangements are there? The Railway Inspectorate would never allow anything that was unsafe to be included in the workings, the interlocking - or the signalman! The interlocking on the frame is arranged to allow the box to be worked as a ground frame during the time it's switched out. As all us railwaymen are taught - NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING!

Many thanks, glad you can, at least, still enjoy the railways through youtube. I will take a look at yours.
Does anybody know any production (movie) filmed on this line?
No, but I'm sure there must be

Yes I noticed that James. They seemed to be set like that most of the day.

The box IS switched out. The guard is operating the frame for the run-round.
