I hate hearing those words. Reason 1: I'm scared I'll offend them by messing up and making the drawing look strange. Reason 2: I hate having the person loom over me and stare while I draw. Reason 3: It gets annoying having them say "pLeasSssse?" whenever I tell them "No".
I really want to do art school and be an animator. I asked my mom about how she would feel if I went to art school, and she told me about how I'll be broke all the time and yelled at me for about half an hour...Any advice from older artists out there?
Go to an art school or school with a good art program as an undeclared major and work a part time job as well for the first year or two. The first year or so of college will have you taking basic classes no matter what you end up majoring in so it's a good idea to take both some basic classes and some art classes before declaring a major. I say work part time too because it will prove to your mom (and yourself) that you would be able to support yourself through your endeavors and hopefully that will show her you are serious and she'll help support you. If she decides to not support you the work will also help you have enough money to start supporting yourself. Edit: also you can take school slowly. You don't have to do a full course load each semester. You can do two or three classes per term and yes you'll end up being in school longer, but it will be a lot easier to manage than like six or eight classes and a job and adjusting to life as an adult. Not sure if this is an option at like, ivy league schools, but it is at most schools. Also you could take a gap year between high school and college and spend that year studying art at a community college where it's super cheap because you could then transfer those credits to a more expensive school and skip the basic classes because you already have credit in them from an other source if that makes any sense. Also, depending on where you live there may be free or dirt cheap day long courses or seminars or things of that nature that you can go to to just improve your skills and knowledge if you're more interested in developing skills than necessarily getting an art degree.
Alex Angel OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I was honestly trying to think of what to do for in the future because I want to be either a professional artist or writer but my family kept turning down my decision saying things like "that won't provide enough money for you" and what not. Thank you so much for this, I'll screenshot it.
dandelionromxce 121 Why dont you learn basics art and if your parents doesnt support you its ok cuz peoples and your friends can even support in school AND DONT BLAME YOUR MOM THATS YOUR WORK THATS WHAT YOU FEEL DONT GET FORCED BY YOUR PARENTS THATS WHAT YOU WANT
ugh I know. none of my relatives take me seriously, especially because one of my aunts three kids are all doctors of some sort, the other has two engineers, and two more boys who are totally going to invent something one day because they're so smart, my sister the psychologist, and me. My aunts and parents and cousins all think it's a phase.... that I should grow out of soon "before its too late"
Zaleath I only have ever had someone discouraged me once. it was about a year after I started drawing and my mom told me that I should stick with music because I was really good at music.... she feels horrible about that now even though it's only been a year
Things i hate: 1. When people see me draw in class they randomly get my notebook and draws on it and RUINS THE FRICKING MY DRAWING. Can't I just make my own drawing WITHOUT anyone drawing on it 2. When my classmates say "can you draw for me!" and I agree then later when I finished the drawing she later adds a SMOL detail and writes on the side "made by _______ and junia" and In my mind say "BOI you barely draw anything"
When everyone in your art class knows you're an artist and the teacher makes everyone draw something and the whole class, in one movement, slowly cranes their heads around and stares deep into your soul EDIT: the worst part is that you're not even good at that medium or subject so your art comes out trash and everyone's disappointed in you
I'm in love with the black haired snape-hoodie Complete opposite of your first hoodie character who represents the euphoric part of an artist Wanne see more of the new member! I also love all the effort you put in every part of the videos. Amazing job Robin :) Always making it 10 percent different

Yup thats my story!....That happend last year ago😂
Oh hoodie, you encompass everything I am truly deep inside. How comfy your hooded head must be, how warm your ears and how snuggly your insulating hoodie material. How I wish to be always shrouded in soft hoodie material of a neutral and always acceptable grey.
All of these I can relate, I'm 12 and I've mastered drawing (in my opinion), and one thing is that I don't have a steady hand so I erase the page like 10 times

I had a "Snape" teacher. I was 5 years old when the teacher assigned us "draw what you think the future looks like" and I was like well I don't know. And I had these birds on the front of my pencilcase so I drew those. The teacher came up to me and said I did the assignment wrong. "The future is not filled with nature but with robots and technology" she took my drawing while I said that maybe the future is full of nature, she couldn't know. I was proud of my drawing. She ripped it and threw it away before handing me a new paper.
Miranda Cole ...What?...WHAT!? What if it's so far in the future that humanity has gone extinct and nature has reclaimed the planet and the piece of art is a mortality piece that is meant to represent that time will go on like it always has when we're gone and eventually all memory of our species and our accomplishments will be washed away! I'm joking, of course, but for all your teacher knew that could've been your intention, lol.
those people don't know how to educate children correctly. ripping a child's drawing is something you should never ever do. i can understand if you're traumatized, i would totally be.
That free art requests cannot be true enough. I've got like more than 10 of these requests saying 'Hey my birthdays coming up!' or ' Hey when are you giving my a free painting hahaha'. And that fake laugh at the end of their sentence as of it makes everything okay. 😠
Teddy Kelly With the way hoodie was talking in the example it was like they were suddenly business partners, except only hoodie was on board with that idea.
I drew a random guy and I was finishing of in class when someone snatched it off me and showed everyone how good it is and he asked me to draw one that looks exactly the same. Like, how do you expect me to find time for that AND make it look the same?
UGH YES- its not only with teachers, too! i once had a notebook with alot of nude and nsfw of my oc’s, guess what happened? teacher found it, didn’t admit it was mine-
Im easily distracted so i use music. Not because it inspires me but because the wires with my headphones shackle me down and I can't escape to look outside :(
More struggles for young artists: 1) You are looking through the internet like crazy to see how to draw videos but loose confidence. 2) People keep on saying how good your drawings are way too much when I didn't even do well for myself. (Don't get me wrong; it's very nice that they compliment!) 3) Having to use $2.00 pencils that don't even work without sharpeners, graphite pencils, paper or erasers. 4) Having an urge to do doodles well at school when you're bored. 5) When you send pictures your drawings SIGNED to somebody if you have a device (THAT IS FAKE AND USES PEOPLE) and then they start pretending that that drawing was theirs and they edit the picture, erase the signature, send it to more people saying it's theirs, use it to try and get into art things for selected students and try to convince the teacher it's THEIR drawing to get in. (then you realise they're fake)
I know you're never really done learning when it comes to art, but it has been about 4 years since i've been focusing on art as a major part in my life, and within those 4 years i still feel as if i haven't made much growth/progress with my creativity or mindset. I spend more time stressing out about why i can't draw as good as someone else or beating myself up for not being able to tune out the negative thoughts about my work. If i make a new piece of work, I'm pretty proud of it until i post it or see other artist's work, then i get discouraged again. It's probably mainly my low self esteem that causes all this, but it makes it super difficult mentally to just sit down and do art, even if i have music or a video on in the background. Just thought i would share how my art journey has been so far since i know i'm not the only one struggling with low art confidence. Thank you for reading if you took the time c:
If one is distracted then he/she should take a break and draw after rest. Drawing straight for hours without resting diminishes the end quality. Take some time off & come back later when you have the mood
I can draw people pretty well, everyone keeps saying its the hardest but I've been drawing humanoid things for 11 years so it's easy for me. Head, legs, hair, face, arms, the body, etc...I can draw. However, there is ONE weakness that I have... *HANDS FREAKING HANDS. Like why is so hard to draw the things we literally use and see everyday, especially while we're drawing? Don't you just find that ironic?*
I get really uncomfortable when my friends ask me to draw stuff for them that I drew before. Usually it's just simple stuff but I get terrified that's I'll accidentally draw it slightly different than the original one or a tiny bit wrong
Haahaha yeah as if there ARE ART SHOPS IN OUR COUNTRY ITS NOT LIKE THAT WE HAVE TO ORDER STUFF AND THE SHIPPING COSTS MORE THAN THE ACTUALL SUPPLY PFFT *NOT AT ALL*

I'm scared I'll offend them by messing up and making the drawing look strange.
Reason 2:
I hate having the person loom over me and stare while I draw.
Reason 3:
It gets annoying having them say "pLeasSssse?" whenever I tell them "No".
Alex Angel omg you’re so smart thank you 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ahhhh thank you! A lot of this is advice I got that was for students with chronic illness but adapted to this type of situation!
The adult discouragement part is too real, shit.
ugh I know. none of my relatives take me seriously, especially because one of my aunts three kids are all doctors of some sort, the other has two engineers, and two more boys who are totally going to invent something one day because they're so smart, my sister the psychologist, and me. My aunts and parents and cousins all think it's a phase.... that I should grow out of soon "before its too late"
Katya Le Oaf Ignore them Katya, do your thing :D
Zaleath I only have ever had someone discouraged me once. it was about a year after I started drawing and my mom told me that I should stick with music because I was really good at music.... she feels horrible about that now even though it's only been a year
Ooo, girl (or possible boy) I will.
Things i hate:
1. When people see me draw in class they randomly get my notebook and draws on it and RUINS THE FRICKING MY DRAWING. Can't I just make my own drawing WITHOUT anyone drawing on it
2. When my classmates say "can you draw for me!" and I agree then later when I finished the drawing she later adds a SMOL detail and writes on the side "made by _______ and junia" and In my mind say "BOI you barely draw anything"
When everyone in your art class knows you're an artist and the teacher makes everyone draw something and the whole class, in one movement, slowly cranes their heads around and stares deep into your soul
EDIT: the worst part is that you're not even good at that medium or subject so your art comes out trash and everyone's disappointed in you
So true
I can relate
True but I also get this in English class it's because its not our national language and I speak English alot (it has become apart of me)
Me Jen with grade in science class
It just happened to me an hour ago-
My friends: did you draw this?
Me: No, I've just been staring a somebody else's drawing for the past hour and a half
I'm in love with the black haired snape-hoodie
Complete opposite of your first hoodie character who represents the euphoric part of an artist
Wanne see more of the new member!
I also love all the effort you put in every part of the videos. Amazing job Robin :)
Always making it 10 percent different
so true :)
IKR? I need the hoodie
Lirey I also LOVE her necklace
I'm twelve and my only problems is zero time and zero money. And rest is just regular struggles like art block AND DIGITAL ARTVLOOKS NOTHING LIKE MY TRADITIONAL WORK

TashaBasha I'm 12 but I have those
Turns out I'm not the only one with these same problems
Same XD

Can you draw me?
“This phrase can make me unmotivated”
And when u draw something good people don't believe that u draw it
Dila Sahin SAME
Dila Sahin yes,Our teacher told us to draw a superhero that we want to be and I draw Wonderwoman and Im not gonna lie I did pretty good and I saw a drawing of superman thats like trash(Im sorry for my classmate but😂gonna be honest)the overall scorse was 45 and I got 44 and that superman trash drawing GOT 45!....THEN I WAS LIKE "TEACHER HOW COME I HAVE LOWER GRADES THAN THIS DRAWING?"(talking about the superman trash drawing) and my teacher was like"Honey I dont think you draw it its to good to be drawn by you"and I was like"BUT TEACHER I DRAW THAT,R****(my seatmate) EVEN SAW IT" and my teacher said "Ok"....I was like wtf teacher???? ....BTW she didnt change the score😧...
Yup thats my story!....That happend last year ago😂
Dila Sahin *True.. and they wanted you to re-draw it....*
I know the pain D:
Dila Sahin yup😭😂
Oh hoodie, you encompass everything I am truly deep inside. How comfy your hooded head must be, how warm your ears and how snuggly your insulating hoodie material. How I wish to be always shrouded in soft hoodie material of a neutral and always acceptable grey.
WHO IS THIS NEW EVIL PROFESSOR HOODIE!! WE NEEED MOREEE
+Samantha Dederichs hahah I think you're right. I may keep um
All of these I can relate, I'm 12 and I've mastered drawing (in my opinion), and one thing is that I don't have a steady hand so I erase the page like 10 times
Said every 12 yrs kid who got interested in drawing after watching a few animes
Nobody can ever master anything, you can always improve. If you're at a acceptable level move on to painting, but, art is more about the fun of it
DoRsA N thats mean im 12 and draw alot and i like it im not the best but not the worst either i have never drawn anime maybe once or twice
My drawing is awful, but I can relate too.
@@dorsan7888 im 10 and i got inspiraition from my teacher

Best Projet ever
excuse me *what?*
Miranda Cole oh i feel you 😭(sorry for bad english i am from croatia)
Miranda Cole ...What?...WHAT!?
What if it's so far in the future that humanity has gone extinct and nature has reclaimed the planet and the piece of art is a mortality piece that is meant to represent that time will go on like it always has when we're gone and eventually all memory of our species and our accomplishments will be washed away! I'm joking, of course, but for all your teacher knew that could've been your intention, lol.
What the Fuck I want to fight this teacher
Mira stupid teachers cant guess what is art
those people don't know how to educate children correctly. ripping a child's drawing is something you should never ever do. i can understand if you're traumatized, i would totally be.
"Dose she have a fidget spinner in that pocket?"

That free art requests cannot be true enough. I've got like more than 10 of these requests saying 'Hey my birthdays coming up!' or ' Hey when are you giving my a free painting hahaha'. And that fake laugh at the end of their sentence as of it makes everything okay. 😠
Teddy Kelly "can you draw this for me?" Then I look at how much effort I'll have to do to GIVE away my drawing and then I avoid the person forever.
Teddy Kelly people are just nice to me when they say “Your drawings are not that bad.” I wish someday someone would actually want free art from me.
Me on my math test: **Paints the Mona Lisa**
Me at my art class: **Draws a stick man**
My art teacher: Wow! She’s good!
I have literally gotten compliments on my stick figure drawings
@@basicallyblobbity4226 why did you have to remind me that this comment exists 😔
My favorite is when you forget your sketchbook in class and you friccen teacher looks in to to see who's it is, and sees EVERYTHINH
UGH YES- its not only with teachers, too! i once had a notebook with alot of nude and nsfw of my oc’s, guess what happened? teacher found it, didn’t admit it was mine-
Im easily distracted so i use music. Not because it inspires me but because the wires with my headphones shackle me down and I can't escape to look outside :(
that is genius but also kinda scary at the same time XD You're gud
I just use music for inspiration and whatever I feel the song means I’ll draw it in a picture.
honestly I'm hopeless at art but still love watching your videos lol
So true! I *DIED* AT THE HARRY POTTER INSPIRED ONE!
Julia Sophia IKR
RIGHT.. the character gave me snape vibes..
More struggles for young artists:
1) You are looking through the internet like crazy to see how to draw videos but loose confidence.
2) People keep on saying how good your drawings are way too much when I didn't even do well for myself. (Don't get me wrong; it's very nice that they compliment!)
3) Having to use $2.00 pencils that don't even work without sharpeners, graphite pencils, paper or erasers.
I just realized that those apartments are like right next to my house 🤔

Yup i always use my break time to dance like theres no days for tommorooww...
I get the question from my best friend
“Hey could you draw this for me”
You need to do a realistic painting of hoodies face on her face
Me: make a really good drawing on a random paper.
5 minutes later: me when i try to draw this again on my schetchbook
Also me: WTF IS THAT??
I just want you to know that you're my favourite artist TH-camr ❤️

Once when my teacher was playing a song and me and my friends were doodling at the back she screamed 'STOPNDRAWING YOUR ANIMES' at us.
Svetlana Ivanova XD "STAHP DRAWING UR ANIMEEESSS!!1!"
Svetlana Ivanova my teacher can't pronounce anime
Young artist problems not being able to draw the creepy/wired stuff you want too without being questioned
Emmalee The unicorn Yes
I hate it when someone asks me to draw something for them.
"Art is never done, only abandoned." -Leonardo Da Vinci
If one is distracted then he/she should take a break and draw after rest.
Drawing straight for hours without resting diminishes the end quality.
Take some time off & come back later when you have the mood
i cant believe she played harry potter while i was drawing HERMINIE GRANGER
Hermione
I can draw people pretty well, everyone keeps saying its the hardest but I've been drawing humanoid things for 11 years so it's easy for me. Head, legs, hair, face, arms, the body, etc...I can draw. However, there is ONE weakness that I have...
*HANDS FREAKING HANDS. Like why is so hard to draw the things we literally use and see everyday, especially while we're drawing? Don't you just find that ironic?*
the art supplies one doesn't bother me bc I wait until Christmas or my art teacher gives me some art supplies

Yakkaina Eiji What I do to encourage myself for that is redrawing old art, because it’ll look closer to what I wanted it to look like
Same. I keep thinking, “Oh, if I keep envisioning it, maybe I can replicate what I see”, but most of the time, it doesn’t work.
when i was in 3d grade i had a list with all my classmates in order to draw. It was fun but i didnt have time to finish it in time for summer break XD

That guy reminded me of shape 😂 Plus you played the Harry Potter song 😁
I hate when people ask me to draw them or make a pic for them bc they either take credit or just give it away randomly.... Or when ppl just take my sketchbook and draw in it/ watch me draw 😑
