      Wes, I wonder if part of your slope in the floor was poured that way on purpose to facilitate your floor drain system? However, it would appear - at least around the perimeter- that slab was poured directly on the topsoil with no perimeter beam work. Hence, these subsidence of the concrete due to soil compaction. Most likely? I think you did the best you could with limited investment.

    Wes, my uncle told me that the mimosa tree in front of their house needed trimmed. His wife, my aunt, went to work, and my uncle went to work. When she came home, the tree was gone. She asked him, " I thought you were just going to trim it". He said he trimmed it at the ground. The reason for the " trim" was that he got tired of cleaning out the gutters, and getting rid of all the new trees.

  • @falksweden
    @falksweden ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As a viewer and subscriber to a lot of similar channels I recognise a "trend". When channels grow some of them tend to buy better and more expensive gear, putting a lot more time into editing and trying to be more "professional" and almost always it just makes the channel worse, not better, and what attracted viewers from the start gets lost in that process. It's youtube. It's ok to just slap it together. It's the content and personalities that makes it great, not the production value.
    When people are saying they want more, longer and better I think "better" doesn't mean production quality and time consuming editing. Don't feel the pressure to be something you aren't and become a youtube "product". Just be yourself and once in a while film it to let people watch Wes work :)

  • @briangreen9677
    @briangreen9677 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    Wes, I've been watching your channel now for quite some time and I've learned a lot from you. I don't have a shop, I don't have a house, I just have an RV and a 1999 F-250 that has never failed me in 263,000. For reasons I can't understand, watching you repair things is calming and therapeutic to me, which probably has you rolling your eyes because of all the colorful language you likely have to edit out, but it's true.
    If I had a couple quarters to rub together I'd join up on your Patreon, but I'm sure that of your 231,000 subscribers, several of them have Franklins burning a hole in their wallet and can send them out your way. I hope the increased revenue will allow you to find an editor who you can just hand all your footage to and say "Good Luck. You'll need it!" There are a lot of those sorts of people out there if you look around. Getting one you can trust, well, that's likely another matter.
    Regardless, keep up the great work and I'm happy to see the shop getting some much needed TLC. Take care, and know that you're appreciated.

    Hi Wes. Just wanted to chime in and say I appreciate your content. I’ve learned a lot and appreciate how much effort it takes to put these together when a week of work and taking care of the family is a high hurdle by itself. Looking forward to following along with whatever path you choose.

    That’s very satisfying seeing the concrete squeeze out the exterior spaces you dig out. Kind of like taking a big deuce. 😜

    Mortske suggested I drop in. After watching this Saving The Shop presentation...my thoughts are, You may want to add rain gutters on your building to direct the water behind your building away from the perimeter.

    It is always interesting! I am glad when you do not stick to just fixing vehicles. I like how you explain things and your thinking process. I also enjoy that you are a human and have human problems like us all. It is nice that you include Mrs. Wes and Mini Wes and of course Max. I enjoy your stories as I was also a field service engineer for an automation manufacturer and would fly all over and get production lines back running. Thank You for your time and experiences.

    Hey Wes 👋, good to see you finally fix the floor. Then, some landscaping. But you got it done with out to much of a headache . I really hope you don't give up on the videos. You are one of the few who still explains what you are doing. And they are interesting and good content. Hopefully, you're able to figure things out.
    Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend 👋

    Glad you got your shop in a better spot, Wes! I laughed out loud at your ‘indoctrination’ comment. I will definitely support you on patreon! The work you do and the things you share are worth, well… sharing. Looking forward to seeing another video.

    I have watched you open up a vehicle pcm and solder something which takes incredible confidence and skill. Then I see you landscape and i immediately get heartburn😂. Entertaining and somewhat educational as always 👍

    As one voice among many, I’ll say that I support whichever choice you make. But if I’m asked for an opinion, I will say without hesitation that I enjoy your content and always look forward to more - short or long, from repairing lathes to saving your shop. You keep it real, and I and 99.9% of your audience respect you enormously for that, but I think I can see that making videos has a way of wearing you down; between the time and effort expenditure and the negative commenters, it sounds like a raw deal sometimes.
    As for the latter issue; looking from the outside in, I rarely see anything but support of you and your channel. The naysayers can watch something else; I don’t care about them and neither should you.

    Wes I believe I happened upon your channel some 5 or 6 years ago now (while still at college). I have to say that not only have I learned a lot from you, but I have also gained an appreciation for tractors and other heavy equipment i never had before watching yout channel. Not to mention you put me on to another favorite of mine in Diesel Creek, as well as that leading into Hamiltonville farms. Also in the daily mess that is life. Your videos have always provided a bit of an escape into something familar. Like hanging out with an old buddy. Please dont feel you have to push yourself beyond your means just for the sake of content. I for one prefer quality over quanity. If you need to have a set schedule and dial it way back on the videos then i for one say do it. But just know that whenever things seem futile. Or think youre not doing good enough. Just know that you've made such a postive impact on not only myself but tons of others through this channel. Take care of yourself, and keep on keeping on 👌
